Peak Athletics

I was with this program for several years, both on the outside as a parent of an athlete and on the inside (on staff), and this program is as professional as you can find in Colorado. The coaches do care about their athletes, and they are very competitive in their team program. Classes are designed to teach first and be fun after, but I believe that is deliberate. Although not without a problem or two, I woulldn't hesitate to endorse this program. To reduce any problems, make sure you do your part: Talk to your coach about any concerns; Read and understand the rules and expectations; Make sure you have an email and phone number on file so your coach can reach you. more

I can't comment on the competition level, as my daughter was in recreational gymnastics. She started Peak when she was 4 months shy of turning 7, and was there nearly 2 years before we had to move out of state. As far as lessons, I couldn't give it a higher praise. If your child is looking at competitive level gymnastics and cheerleading, Peak is the place to go. We researched the only 5 facilities around our new house, and while the one she goes to now is very good, it still isn't the quality that Peak was. Our daughter was in intermediate at Peak before she left, and at the new facility was promptly moved to advanced due to the skills she was taught at Peak. Her new instructors have been very impressed, and routinely have her show various skills to the rest of the class. Peak gave her this foundation. If I had anything negative to say about Peak it would be how busy it can get. There were times we couldn't even find a place to sit, and would have to sit on the floor during her practices to watch. Any classes after 5pm are chaos. I guess that's a good thing. If it wasn't a good facility, it wouldn't be so busy, right? Lol. Also, the prices are a bit high. We literally pay almost half the tuition at her new facility than we did at Peak. But again, this has to do with quality. You want good instruction, you're going to pay for it. more

Good: What the kids are taught seems to be based on progressive skills - they build upon what came earlier. The coaches seem to care about the kids - both attitude and safety. Nice facility - pleasant and friendly staff (see below). Bad: Price is a little high, but they seem to give value for the money. I met the owner a few weeks ago - after 3 years. Not cool - the guy I thought was the owner was helpful, friendly, nice & would go out of his way to help anyone... they say he quit and they hired another person who is better. (she's not - that's why I met the owner was to complain about this new manager who is a real nasty character!) Anyway - the manager is a problem.. Improvements: Replace the manager & bring back Dan, or someone just like him who cares about the customer and the kids. Bring back the coffee shop - it's only open at night!. Other: Generally a nice place.. more

I knew who David was, and am surprised to read that he is no longer at the gym. He helped me get caught up when my husband was out of work, and he helped others when they needed to change classes or didn't like an instructor. He's what kept me at this gym. Maybe the owner had a good reason for him to leave or maybe he left for a better job. I wish him luck - maybe he'll be back some day. more

I've tried other gyms in the area, and Peak seems to have their act together. Good coaches who care about the kids - a plan and curriculum that teaches to USAG standards in both pre-school (age 2 to 6) & recreation classes (7 & up).Occasionally they have coaches who leave or call in, but they seem to have back-up teachers who try to keep the classes consistent, and know what they are doing. A few years ago they had some coaches who were bad news - but those folks are gone now & "teaching" at another gym. The owners are in the gym regularly - not every day, but they are not absentee owners like in other gyms. I know their competitive program had some turnover and some problems, but the folks they have today are top notch, and plan to stay for a long time (or so they tell me). They don't push the kids past their capability, and offer levels for almost everyone who wants to compete. They have USAG teams from Level 4 to Level 9, and offer a nice competitive league called "EAGLES" that isn't quite so intense. My girls are not going to the Olympics, but they have fun in class and hope to make the team someday soon. They also offer Cheer & Dance if that's your bag. In Cheer, they are one of the top gyms in the state, and getting stronger in Dance and Gymnastics almost daily. South of metro Denver, this is the place to be! more

Great place for gymnastics and dance for all ages. Lots of schedules and times for different age groups. The recreational gymnast can go here all the way up to competitive. Professional, well trained staff. Also, parties where parents do little or nothing! more
