Not Impressed! 12/14/2005

The food was ok... I had the Mole Chicken, and I think it was too hot for my taste... I like spicy, but not when it is hot enough to take away from the flavor of the food... The rice was rather bland, but the beans were ok... The drink was the best part! I was VERY disappointed in the decor at this restaurant.... Dirty floors, tippy tables, and ripped chairs... Not a very impressive place I can tell you! The waitress was ok, but not really friendly... I will not be going back to this place...It is a hole in the wall for sure! My favorite lunch spot on Franklin 7/19/2004

This is my favorite place to each lunch within walking distance of UNC. I highly reccomend the Esa Bandeja lunch. It is delicous, filling, and not too expensive. I have been twice for dinner and the ambience is a bit nicer because the torches are out and music on some Saturdays. It is great in warmer months if you particularly enjoy eating outside outside. My Favorite Restaurant in Chapel Hill 8/14/2003

Great for lunch or dinner, Patio Loco has the most unique ""Mexican"" food I've ever had. (The cuisine is actually Southern Mexican/Latin American). The Fried Cassava (called Yucca at lunch) is my favorite side dish, but I can't even begin to decide on a favorite entree. This restaurant also has great vegetarian options, with roughly half the menu offering a choice of chicken, steak, or lentils in the various dishes. Don't miss the melted cheese with jalapeños as an appetizer for dipping! Pros: Vegetarian Options, Unique Food, Cassava/Yucca Cons: parking sometimes more

Crossing the Border... 7/20/2002

Patio Loco is a refreshing change of pace from other, more generic Mexican restaurants around. The food is fresh, our service was amazing, and the ambience made us feel like we were in Mexico (due in large part to the lack of A/C, but we got used to it). The daily special was delicious and reasonably priced, and the portion sizes are generous. Our food was ready in less than ten minutes, and our server regularly checked in with us.
