Authentic Mexican food. Excellent service! 12/20/2007

My co-worker and I were in Pasadena for business and got hungry so we came to Paseo for a bite. Boy, did we get much more than that! We were promptly greeted by Alejandra, one of the managers (?) and sat close to the stage. The waitress was equally friendly and prompt. Not too many Mexican restaurants know how to make a mean ""michelada"", but I had the best one outside of Mexico at Paseo! and their food is truly authentic and delicious. Great portions; not too small or big, and very tasty, too! And to wrap up an excellent dining experience, we had Mariachi live entertainment. That's it ... I'm taking my mom there for her birthday! You must try this place. You'll love it! Pros: Live mariachi! tasty food! excellent service! great micheladas! Cons: not too easy to find, but worth looking... more

FINALLY- a Mexican food restaurant that's really mexican! 12/4/2007

I usually like the atmosphere of Mexican restaurants, but I LOVE the atmosphere at THIS Mexican restaurant! They actually have Mariachi's and waitresses dressed in traditional Folk gowns, which gives it a true cultural feel. I went on a Thursday night but the ambiance of the place felt like I was out on the town on a Saturday evening before ""last call"" enjoying fine dining. I had a fabulous Margarita; not the kind from a mix that they threw together with cheap tequila, but a salty and deliciously fresh-squeezed lime creation. The appetizer was just as great too. I had the Ceviche, which sounds like a typical appetizer and drink for a Mexican place, but this was something far from typical. Most places throw the canned seafood in a glass, with a twist of lemon that has been sitting out too long, then toss some dry cilantro on top, but this Ceviche was blended, fresh, and juicy. I was salavating! I then ate a homemade flour tortilla afterwards and wished I had order a dozen to take home. They were that good...thus I ended up ordering an entree eventhough I wasn't hungry. It was such a treat to see a genuine place in the middle of all the commercial hype at the Paseo. I especially liked that the owner (who greeted us personally) chose to make it a classy place and put the bar off to the side, this way you could choose to go for a drink with friends and still get the feel of the atmosphere or you could go on a date and sit in the middle of it all. Either way, it's a good time with lots of good flavors and run by good people. Pros: Not that expensive, lots of flavors & authentic Cons: That there aren't more places like this more
