Do they compare the meter with their record. In case of emergency clients can not reach the company. I was given a ticket while car was paid for 10 hours rate $ 14.00 I would call...

We parked in the lot at 7th and Market South and were about to pay at the self-service station when we were approached by an African-American male, mid 40s, in a security jacket. ...

I received a $30.00 ""ticket"" after paying the required amount, placing ticket on my dash. Crooks! more

I agree with the rest of the negative reviews. I was issued an unjustified and unfair $30 'ticket' from one of their Hillcrest lots. Avoid this sketchy parking company at all costs! I strongly suggest complaining to the Better Business Bureau. Needless to say I will not be giving into this scam. more

Frauds. I got a $30 ""ticket"" in the lot where I park EVERY DAY for work. I pay every day. Why would I suddenly decide not to? How can I possibly prove I paid? Do I have to record the act of folding my bill and pushing it into their box every day? more

What a piece of crap company. I was in Blicks on India St / parked in their parking lot. When I came out I had a $30 parking ticket. Time stamp 1 minute before my register receipt time stamp...and the reason for the ticket is ""not an active customer of the store"". I was 1 of 3 people in the store at the time. So now I get to fight a parking ticket ... more

On 4/15/2012 I parked at the Pernicanos parking lot in Hillcrest. I paid for one hour and was gone 40 minutes. When I got back to my car I had a $30 parking fee notice stating that the ?Permit was not Visible?. more

Abusive employees 12/22/2011

I park in one of their lots each week. I am in a RV and i park there to give me a close spot, while i set up for a local farmer's market. Last week when i parked I went to say hi to a friend who is also a vendor at the market. Then came back to my RV to get money to pay the meter. I always pay the meter. When i got out to head to the pay station, the guy, his name is Angel, was walking toward me with his clipboard. I said hello and asked him if i could just give him the money. He said, ""you need to pay when you park, not when you see me!"" I told him what i just wrote, said i was going to pay, he became very verbally abusive and told me that, ""you homeless people never pay!"" I said, ""seriously... I pay every week. Have you ever written me a ticket? Have you ever seen my motor home here without paying. Just because i am in a motor home is not a good reason to be mean and abusive. You speak with an accent, are obviously dark skinned, do you like it when people judge you by your looks or speech. It is not OK for you to be mean to me just because you are mad at someone else in a motor home. He continued to be abusive and condescending. I asked for the number to speak to his manager. I have called the offices twice, once each day to speak to a manager but no one calls back. This company obviously does not care about its customers. Unfortunately i need to park in their lots once each week. But I would caution others, the company does not care about right or wrong, discrimination, or abuse. They only want their money. So sad! more

Great experience 12/9/2011

So I have hear a lot of bad reviews on the Parking Company of America and was extremely skeptical about doing business with them. I work for a construction business and we utilize their parking for our workers. I guess they were having issues were people were walking around passing out tickets for paid spaces that the car owners thought were real tickets and were paying them. These car owners were getting upset at Parking Company of America when it has nothing to do with them. It was a scam, and local police have been trying to stop this for the past few months. Simple solution: Don't pay them and read the fine print. Other than that the only thing that bugged me a little was the fact that they hardly ever answer the phone. For the most part they are good about quick turn around calls, but really that is the only thing that got me. The company is going to be doing a name change and a few other company changes, including online options for payments and so on. Hoping that the administrative aspect will improve as well. One thing that was MADE ME VERY PLEASED was when I called them to let them know that I didn't receive the parking passes until 8 days into the month (passes are from the 1st of the month to the last day of that month.) and I felt like I got ripped off for the 8 days. I didn't even make a fuss about it and she gave me a refund for the following month for the 8 days that were missed. And just for the record, the reason it did not get to me on time was because there was an old mailing address on our check and that's what they used as our mailing address. So technically it was out fault and they still credited me the 8 days. All and all I think that this company has gotten a bad rap. I have had a fairly easy experience with them and will continue to business with them in the future. more

Fake and Wrong Ticket. 6/1/2011

Do they compare the meter with their record. In case of emergency clients can not reach the company. I was given a ticket while car was paid for 10 hours rate $ 14.00 I would call police department and consumer dept of San Diego for this stupid act and fraud of collecting the money. and giving a false ticket. I understand if someone not had a ticket taken throu the meter than you should collect the money. I will peruse this case to department of consumer and city counselor on this issue as police station. by calling and filing a form. I hope city should take this notice ASAP. more

No need to pay these fake tickets. 5/19/2011

I received one of their so-called tickets after 35 minutes after paying for an hour. I don't know why they issue tickets before they are due, but it seems to be a pattern. THESE ARE NOT REAL TICKETS. if you look at the small print, it says that they are not a ticket issued by any official govt agency. This is a sick way to try to scam money off of people who are worried about the DMV and don't read the fine print. more

Incompetent or scam? 4/29/2011

I parked in San Diego and paid the meter machine for 1 hour. I returned 20 minutes later and there was an official looking $30.00 ""ticket"" on my car. I took pictures of my car, parked in the right spot, ticket on dash, and time on ticket. I returned to the establishment where I had done business to inquire about what to do. One of their employees told me that it had happened to him a couple weeks earlier. I then went back to the parking spot and there was a girl there with the same issue. I called the number (during business hours) and of course got a recording. As I looked into this, I did notice that the ticket is labeled at the bottom as ""This is not a parking ticket. This is not issued by the police or any government agency."" They make it very easy to pay by including a SASE, and I am sure there are some people willing to just pay instead of going through the trouble of fighting it. Not me. Whomever employee number 17961 is (printed on ticket), they need to learn to read or tell time or both. more

Beware of fake parking attendants 2/11/2011

We parked in the lot at 7th and Market South and were about to pay at the self-service station when we were approached by an African-American male, mid 40s, in a security jacket. He said he was the parking attendant and we should pay him, so we gave him our $4 and got a numbered ticket to place on the dashboard. When we came back 2 hours later (it was supposed to be for up to 10 hours), there was a $30 fee due notice on the windshield. No phone number, just a PO box to send the fine. more

Feelin' like a fool 2/4/2011

So, I kinda feel like an idiot... Parked my car in the lot at 7th & Market, it was nice, open, well lit so I decided it was the better option in that area. I get out pay the rate and walked off to the restaurant to meet my friends. Later on, when I arrived to my car I find that there's a ticket on my windshield....needless to say...I went BALLISTIC! Called the company 3 times only to find out they're closed on the weekend! Monday morning I get a call back from a lady and I'm still fuming, although its out of character for me, I start screaming and when I finally let the lady speak....find out I was supposed to display my receipt on the dashboard. I felt like the biggest douche, is taken the receipt with me in my pocket and here I was yelling at this nice lady. I faxed her the copy of my receipt and she was nice enough to take care of it anyway. And that is why I am here....sharing this embarrassing story because I had to try to make it up to her. Sorry, nice lady! more

Never had a problem... 10/20/2009

I've been purchasing monthly parking from Parking Company of America for the past 5 years and I have never had a problem. Their customer service has been awesome with me and they've always helped me out with any questions I may have. They have locations all over San Diego and I use them a lot, especially in downtown and PB area. Pros: Convenient locations, low parking rates. Cons: Parking stall size more

Fraudulant Company 10/2/2009

My wife went into Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Ocean Beach to pick up her prescription. She parked in Rite Aid lot, there were no meters, just marked spaces. She came out after 10 minutes and had what appeared to be a city issued parking ticket on the window. She came home and wrote a check thinking it would go on her record if not paid. Upon more research we found out it is a fake ticket made and printed by Parking Co of America. My wife was in the store for 10 minutes. This is a scam perpitrated by Parking co of America and Rite Aid. The company gets 50% of the income for the tickets and the balance goes back to Rite Aid. There are several other stores doing the same thing. We have spent $18,000 over two years to Rite Aid for our medications. I'm transfering our prescriptions elsewhere tomorrow. The City Attorney needs to investigate this scam. Many people are just sending in money thinking its a city issued citation. I called the police and two officers responded and made a report which I'm sure will be filed and never read again. Cons: Use extortion to get your money more

I received a PARKING FEE NOTICE on 7/20 at 9:36 a.m. Pros: STUPID Cons: They hire people who can't read more

Got a ticket? NO WORRIES! 5/27/2009

Do not worry if you get a ticket from these idiots! You don't have to pay. This ticket will never go on any government database. That's why it says ""This is not a parking ticket. This notice is not issued by the police of any government agency."" They are required by law to put this notice on the bottom of every ticket (I've been practicing law for 35 years now). If you get a ticket, don't pay... the only way they could try to get the money from you is to take you to small claims court... do you know how many tickets they give out in a day?!!! They would never go through the trouble! So enjoy free parking now my friends... and watch the clowns as the hand out fake parking tickets!!! I suggest paying your ticket with monopoly money! Pros: Not a government agency... Free Parking!!! more
