MMM!! great county cooking 5/30/2009

Pam's is the best place to get a good Southern breakfast. The waitstaff are extremely friendly. It's definitely old school inside, and it's a little sketchy how it's attached to The Goat (bar), but for me it just adds charm to this wonderful hidden treasure. Eat here and leave happy--you should probably go for a run after wards because you're guaranteed to stuff yourself (but not put a hurting on your wallet). The prices are a lot more reasonable the Farmer's Market Restaurant and the food is a lot better! Pros: Knocks the Farmer's Mkt Restaurant out of the water Cons: Location more

PAM's is finger lickin' good! 2/19/2009

I've been to Pam's several times and I'm so glad I discovered it. If you are a Southern girl or gal and need some of your Momma's or Grandma's cooking, but can get to them - Pam's is the place to go! The food is always fresh and tastes great. I always leave a happy customer each time I visit. more

Wonderful every time 12/5/2008

My husband found Pam's a couple of years ago and we've been loyal customers ever since. The food is always outstanding and the people who work there are very friendly. They have THE BEST country cooking in the area. You have to try the bbq chicken! Wonderful, wonderful! Pros: Great food, good value, friendly service Cons: Get there early (by noon at the latest) or you may run into crowds more

Best country cooking in the immediate Triangle area 11/25/2008

The poster below was misled if he/she was looking for soul food. This particular establishment specializes in "country cooking" which is slightly different from soul food. You'll find pork chops, roast beef&gravy, beef tips w/ rice, bbq chicken, fried fish, and a whole host of veggies like homemade mashed potatoes, collard greens, yams, limas, green beans, etc. Everything here is made from scratch, from the biscuits and hushpuppies to the gravy for the roast beef and mashed potatoes to the OUTSTANDING banana pudding (on thurs. and fri.) - nothing is from cans (like K&W Cafeteria for example). This place is far better, and I drive from Durham every week just to eat here because it's worth it. You can get a meat + 2 veggies + tea here for 7 dollars and change. The price-to-value ratio is unbeatable. This place has grown on me over time. If you go in expecting a "Sunday's best" meal, you might be disappointed. I have an adage for my two favorite southern places in this area - Joyce and Family in Fuquay-Varina or Old Place in Bear Creek, NC is what you'd expect your grandma to make for lunch on Sunday; Pam's is what you'd expect her to make for lunch on Thursday. Pros: simple but good made-from-scratch country cooking Cons: not the best if you're counting calories or watching your arteries more

DON'T DO IT, U WILL REGRET IT...UNLESS U WANT TO COMMIT SUICIDE! 11/25/2008

A colleague and I wanted to go to a restaurant with soul food. Another colleague suggested Pam's Farmhouse Restaurant! Well after scrolling through the other comments, I'm not sure who in the world gave them 5 stars b/c this place don't deserve 1 star. When we got there we were given menus. Apparently we didn't go on the right day b/c the menus did not have any soul food listed. They had parts of soul food such as collard greens, baked chicken and beef tips etc....but was lacking what I call soul food, meat loaf, chicken & dumplings, cabbage, mash potatoes, macaroni & cheese, sweet potatoes, banana pudding etc. Now, even though they did not have this things didn't totally ruin the experience....we just had to save soul food for another day. After debating what I was going to order due to the choices I was given, I finally decide to get breakfast food. Because we got our food to go, it wasn't until we got back and realize the portion size and the quality in taste! Someone made a comment saying it's home made cooking......I totally disagree....I can cook some home cooked meals that taste way better than that....and put some soul to it. It was terrible and heck NO, I'm not going back! For those that tempt to go....be prepared....b/c not only will you experience bad tasting food.....you'll also experience high bld pressure, cholesterol, and possibly diabetes....that's just my personal opinion.....the next time I will choose K&W Cafeteria! Pros: You may laugh-twilite zone Cons: You'll have the case of a serious mudd! more
