Having become addicted to massages, I've come to expect a certain kind of ambiance from day spas. They're supposed to be shiny, full of artfully arranged plants, and the new age music never seems to end. Therefore the Pamper House surprised me a little. It is, literally, in a house. As you come in the front door you have to peer into a room or two before finding the receptionist. Turns out she's back in the area where the kitchen is supposed to be. We had to wait for her to show up before we could fill out our paper work... maybe she was making the beds.
I was eight months pregnant when I tried Pamper House. The massage was good, although I was distracted by the sounds of the cars coming from the streets, which the CD she was playing couldn't quite cover. She was very considerate of me, though, I was quite comfortable and had no problems with the way the massage was done.
I ended up waiting while my husband had his massage done. It was a good thirty or forty minutes before they were finished, so I had enough time in the tiny waiting room to really notice that the seats weren't very comfortable, the reading material was all outdated, and the crack in the wall may mean that they have some issues with their foundation. I had to go looking for water, and no one asked me if I needed anything.
Massage is expensive and I feel like you're paying for the experience at the spa as well as the massage itself. In that light the Pamper House really wasn't worth it, even though I had no problems with the actual massage itself.
