The best pancakes in the world. My favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh!

Worst

Unfortunately, there's not that many options for the pancaking-loving populace of Pittsburgh (what with that IHOP that supposedly was coming in ""Spring 2010"" and is still. not. ...

Really not that good... 8/7/2006

I've been told that Pamela's is considered the best place(s) for breakfast in Pittsburgh, but there's one major strike against it. The coffee stinks. It's really quite awful. This was my experience when I went to the Squirrel Hill location and others have agreed with me when I have mentioned it. My hotcakes (banana chocolate chip, really a crepe) were pretty tasty, but a little greasy. I went on a Saturday, so it was also a long wait and very crowded. My party of 6 barely fit at our table and were constantly in the way of the waitress trying to make her way through. more

Pamela's has great food with bad decor 4/14/2006

Pamela's is the most popular breakfast restaurant in Oakland and surrounding areas. It is a funky, diner-like eatery that serves a delicious varieties of pancakes. The decor was recently redone at the Oakland (Forbes Ave) location and has large pictures with Warhol like 50's posters now. This changed the feel from a local diner to an ugly chain restaurant. The same terrific food remains. A caution to Pamela visitors: If you're going to visit on Saturday morning, be prepared to wait. more

Pamela's Restaurant 3/28/2006

Since there is always a line out the door on Saturday and Sunday mornings, I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I am not a big fan of Pamela's. It's the kind of greasy spoon that is good to go to for breakfast after a wild night on the town, but not much more than that. The portions are large, but, in my opinion, the prices are high for the type of food that is served - think omelettles, hash browns and toast. The service is adequate. Their lunches are ok. more

Best way to start a weekend 10/21/2005

Absolutely the best breakfast in Pittsburgh. My favorite one is the new location in the strip or Shadyside. Try the pancakes, omlette's and potatoes. Must try! more

very good food 9/22/2005

Pamela’s is THE place to go in Pittsburgh for breakfast. They are much renowned in local circles for the quality and good taste of their breakfast. They not only offer the usual breakfast foods such as eggs, and beacon, but also have specialties such as chocolate chip hot cakes which are very good. more

Pamela's--Overrated 9/15/2005

With the long lines every Saturday and Sunday morning, I really expected something special at Pamela's. Their breakfast is just normal, though. It's good but not worth the wait. Also (unless they've changed) they don't take credit cards which is very irritating. You'd get more or less the same food at Eat'n'Park or Denny's. more

Great Breakfast 9/3/2005

Their creeps are wonderful. The potatoes are great...however don't expect a fancy meal. Great breakfast foods but the service is choppy - it is what you would expect from a diner. However there is always a line on a Saturday and or Sunday morning...so be prepared to wait. It is a first come first serve basis. Good food for a good price - one of the best breakfast places in Pittsburgh. more
