Don't be deceived by the appearance of this place. It looks homey and rustic, but the service, the price of the food and the food in general are atrocious.The waitress was unconcerned with our needs and appeared to be caught up in her own drama. The price of the food was ridiculous, especially for what we got. My hamburger was cold over cooked and tasteless. McDonalds would have been a better choice all the way around. After reading other reviews I see I'm not the only one who had an awful experience here. My advice to people traveling through the Columbia Gorge is beware and avoid this place.....not a fan!!!! more

We've been stopping at the Pacific Crest Pub for the last three years as we travel to Portland. Read recent reviews about the poor service but we have had courteous servers and delicious food. The menu has improved with great choices from something light to a hardy pizza or sandwich. The pizza sauce and crusts are made on premise and are fresh and tasty. The interior has been remodeled and is very clean, cozy and inviting. We recommend to all of our friends who travel past Cascade Locks on their way to Portland. more

We chose to stop for lunch at this place after a hike nearby. It looks great and has lots of windows and roadhouse decor. The menu reads OK too. I asked for a burger done medium, got a lecture on what the health department requires, and was served a burger that was thin, hard, dry and tasted as if it had been on the grill since the day before. For $8.00 I expect a decent burger. \r \r Waitress a little self-oriented. It was about 70 degrees outside & I was in shorts and sweatshirt. When I told the waitress that I was cold from the A/C blowing directly on me, she replied that she was comfortable, maybe due to her work! We had just walked about 10 miles, half of it uphill so we too had good circulation. I moved across the table into the lee of my husband to stay warm.\r \r The horseradish is good and well priced at $5 the jar. My suggestion is that the rest of the food get up to that level of value for price and match the decor. The beer selection looked good; why not make the non-alcoholic drink selections good too, like a natural root beer and freshly steeped rather than powdered iced tea? The waitress was unfriendly... You have to pay to split a meal. The benches were uncomfortable. I would of much rather went to Subway... Pros: The food was OK Cons: The prices were big for what they offered more

This place is a joke. My buddy talked me into going here because we were in the area and we were both hungry. I was not impressed. The owners think way to highly of themselves and not very highly of others. I think if you look like money they might treat you better than if you don't. This is the second time i have been here and the service is just as awful as the fist time. I will not be back and I will be telling everyone Who will hear me to stay away or suffer the terrible service that is The Pacific Crest Pub. Pros: can't think of one Cons: too many to list more

Don't stop at any restaurants in Cascade Locks, especially the Pacific Crest Pub, or the Charburger!\r The Pacific Crest Pub looks fun, but they don't deliver on the quality or quantity of food. I got a canned chicken asian salad, with poor taste and little or no dressing, and old cabbage. Hubby tried a reuben, that consisted of 2 slices of cold bread, literally a squirt of maio and a tablespoon of sauerkraut, and meat in the center of the sandwich, not reaching the outer edges of the bread. Like most I head out to the Columbia Gorge to hike and sightsee, but it’s always nice to find a spot to grab a bite to eat. The menu at the Pacific Crest Pub is your basic restaurant fare like sandwiches, burgers, pizza and other entrees. Many have a gorge theme to them like a pizza with smoked salmon that I had, it sounds strange but I found it to be really tasty. The pub itself had a rustic quality to it but was well kept. I liked that there was a main eating area that was well suited for a family meal and a back area with some lotto games and a back bar if you wanted. I was surprised to read about complaints about the staff, as they seemed pleasant enough to me. In any case I would recommend giving the Pacific Crest Pub a try if you find yourself needing to take a quick break from the beautiful gorge. more

Wow, where to start....\r \r This place was once ran by a great couple who was always there for the community. They stayed open late, poured the beer heartily, had GREAT pizza and sandwiches. The service was awesome, not overdone or fake, just country goodness. To give you an idea, I probably spent nearly a thousand dollars a month on beer and food both to go and dine in. Basically this was my 'Go To' place to unwind and enjoy. I had no idea how dark the days where ahead for this little pub. New owners took over as the old owners retired. I was optimistic about the change. It didnt take long and all the old staff had left with the exception of one server who among the laundry list of bad habits include a piercing chronic laughter that shakes the walls.\r The pizza I ordered to go after the initial transition literally looked and tasted like a young child had prepared it. The beer taps became excessively guarded by a staff more concerned with the possibility of OLCC making a suprise visit than making a jovial and comfortable enviornment. Its just plain bad. I have given the crew there a dozen chances or more to show improvement with no luck at all. I think perhaps the new owners would have been more suited selling life insurance than beer and pub grub. Dont go, Just forget it, try the 'Cascade Inn' for food and beer or even 'Char Burger'. Stop by the local grocery store, gas station, or post office and ask the locals how the service is at the Pacific Crest Pub. I, and many other locals I have heard from, have experienced not only iffy quality on the food, but absolutely AWFUL service from the staff and the very owners themselves. I felt compelled to write a review to warn others and in doing so found the warnings from other locals already posted - only to be followed by raving reviews that sound as though they have come from the mouths (or I guess fingertips) of the owners - no doubt trying to save face in the wake of the ugly truth coming out. That truth is that the food is okay - on a lucky day - but the service... Oh the service.... the service is THE WORST I believe I have ever experienced in my life. In a failing economy, wouldn't it be in their best interest to be thankful to those of us who are here locally, who would've been happy to support them? Well, I guess not. Hey owners! Play fair! I've eaten at Pacific Crest Pub a bunch of times and have always enjoyed it. I do hikes in the Gorge whenever possible and love finishing them off here. They have a great menu that includes hot sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, and really tasty salmon chowder. I'm a big fan of their beer selection too. Its hard not to try them all!\r The staff has always been very fun and courteous with my friends and I. \r The place looks better and better every time I go in there. The owners have done a lot of work to the building, including a great outdoor covered patio in the back. \r All in all this is a great place and would recommend it to everyone! more

My wife and I travel through the beautiful Columbia River Gorge to visit our daughter and our new grand baby on a regular basis. I like to find interesting places to stop along our travels. We love to find those little hole in the wall places and that is what we thought we found when we came a cross the Pacific Crest Pub & Hostel.\r \r Boy was i wrong. I'm a retired executive and my entire career I have have believed in the importance of good customer service. This is something frankly that the Pacific Crest Pub & Hostel doesn't have. The food was ok and the atmosphere was nice, but the people were rude the bartender was incredibly inconsiderate to my wife...it upsets me to think about it again.\r \r I will be telling my friends, who travel through the area,not to go here and i hope the people who read this don't go here either. My wife and I were offended!!!! Cons: Poor customer service. more

I eat at the pub about once a week, and the service is good. It's really cleaned up and the pizza is awesome. more

I have traveled back and forth through the gorge on my Harley for years and have always stopped in Cascade Locks to enjoy a great beer and great pizza at the pub. However on my last trip I was disappointed to find that there are new owners and they have not upheld the standards that were put in place by the old owners, not to mention the prices were considerably higher. My pizza was cold and the staff was far less than friendly. A sad realization for a guy who expected to walk in and find a great and familiar place. I waited a ridiculously long time to get my food and finally when I asked, it was determined that my ticket had been lost and so my pizza wasn't even started yet. When I did finally get it - and this is a long time in - It was cold in the middle. I was so disappointed that I didn't even eat it, but left and went down the road for (what turned out to be a great) burger at the drive in. I'll keep my road trips through the gorge, but I won't be stopping back in at the pub. Save your money and go somewhere else. You can get a good burger right down the road and the people there are much friendlier anyway. Pros: not a one Cons: cold food, unfriendly service, over priced, rude management more
