Unethical AND Harrassing! 3/30/2010

I took in three garments for slight alterations and met with a man who took my measurements. My mistake was believing that he was honest, ethical or honorable in any way. There were no rates posted and I (wrongly!) assumed he would charge me the going rate. When I picked up my garments, he informed me that I owed him nearly $300! He did give me my clothing and the bill since he does not accept credit cards.. The next week, I sent him a check for nearly $200 which is well higher than the going rate and a fair price for the work he did. He has since sent me AND MY EMPLOYER harrassing letters. There are many great tailors in the area who earn customer loyalty. Not this one! more

Good quality work and fast 3/11/2009

Took my leather jacket in there Monday to get restitched around the pockets and internal pocket. Was quoted $35 which was good considering work was going to involve undoing the lining etc. The friendly guy there and told should be available Thursday but I got a call Tuesday saying it was ready. Work is great, can't tell the repair from the original stitching. Favourite jacket it back! Pros: Friendly guy, work was done in under 24 hours Cons: None for me more

Best Tailor now 12/2/2008

Nordstrom sent me to this tailor. And I loved it! Nordstrom knows what it's talking about. I had all kinds of specialty designer clothing (even fur!) done by this man. And they all turned out really good! Finally my stuff fit me like a glove. I don't really care how much it costs as long as the workmanship is good. I tried other cheaper places and their work were waaaay below average. Well worth the price. Although I don't think the price is too different from other tailoring shops in Bellevue. Pros: talented tailor Cons: not much parking more

Great Customer Service! 10/20/2008

I don't know what these other reviews are talking about but I have never had a bad experience at Pacific Alterations. In fact, I even recommended his work to my family and friends and know they have never had poor experiences either. His pricing is no more expensive than a tailor I used to go to in Issaquah! I have been using Pacific Alterations for about a year now. I trusted him with various clothes from work pants to my bride's maid dress. I will continue to recommend Pacific Alterations. Pros: Close to Bellevue Square, funny personality, great tailoring Cons: parking is scarce more

CRIMINAL! 1/22/2008

What this man is doing to his customers is illegal!I cannot understand how this man is still in business in Bellevue! Hopefully more and more people will report him and put him out of business! He preys on people who negelct to get a quote in writing and then jacks up the prices if you want your garments back. .... go somewhere else...anywhere! more

Royally Screwed! 1/14/2008

Avoid this place like the plague...seriously, this guy will rip you off! I cannot even begin to understand what he was thinking...he could have had all of our business had his prices and quality slightly approached reasonable. I'll never go back. Pros: Close to Bellevue Square Cons: Pretty much everything except location more

RIPPED OFF! 12/7/2007

After reading all the reviews on this site and after my experience this business should be shut down! I came in to have a dress shortened, I thought $30 max (straight hem, rayon fabric) and he charged me over a $100, said it was a special fabric? Since when is rayon a ""special"" fabric. Please take your garment elsewhere if you dont want to be ripped off. Also they do not take credit cards? Only cash and check, a little fishy in todays world of business??? I took another garment to the alterations place next door and they are great! Reasonale prices, they know what they are doing and you pay up front and no surprises! Cons: Dishonest and sleezy more

UNBELIEVABLE! 12/6/2007

DISHONEST! I took a basic black jacket in to get the sleeves shortened. A $20 charge, right?? I came back to a $100 fee!!!! Same old story...special fabric...""we should of called you""...looks better this way... Holy cow! I should have gotten a quote in writing. more

great work 10/19/2007

I certainly do not agree with any of the past reviews because I had a very positive experience at this place. People need to know that the prices in this place are comparable to others in the area. So they do not rip people off. i've had several of my jeans altered here and am very happy with the work. The man knows his field of expertise. I even had a sweater rewoven by him. And it was flawless. Not only that but contrary to what the reviews say, this guy is really very friendly. I definitely have found my tailor no doubt about it. I highly recommend this place if you really want good work done. Pros: expert work Cons: a little expensive but worth it more

HORRIBLE & RIPPED ME OFF! 4/12/2007

I am SHOCKED! I wish I would have read these reviews before going to this business. This man and his wife are running such a scam. Had 2 items altered, he quoted me around $60.00, came to pick them up and they were twice the amount. He was rude and nasty when I questioned him. I cannot believe that Bellevue has a business like this I am apalled. GO NEXT DOOR OR TO NORDSTROMS! more

RIPPED OFF!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE! 3/16/2007

If only I had read all the reviews on this website. VERBAL prices quoted at fitting were pretty average, however when I went to pick up my garments they cost was $400.00 well over what the around the $100.00 he quoted me initially. I was apalled but had no choice but to pay him. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS BUSINESS There are plenty of tailors that bank on repeat business and relationships not ripping people off and never seeing them again. I urge anyone who has been ripped off to file a claim at the appropriate consumer protection agency and hopefully get this person straight or make him close his business.and more

RIPPED OFF!! 3/16/2007

Just as the review I just read said: BE PREPARED TO BE RIPPED OFF! The owner of this business is shifty and dishonest. He quoted me average prices for altering a few garments and did not write the amounts on the receipt he gave me then when I came to pick them up the cost was more than DOUBLE! Using words like special seems and fabrics etc. I asked him why I was not told ahead of time that since a garment is so special the cost may be higher for the alteration then what he quoted; he replied ""you didnt ask""! I told him that I would not be returning and he said he didnt care. I had no choice but to pay him to get my clothing.I will be contacting the appropriate consumer protection agency & filing a claim. This is clearly the man's MO to charge basically whatever he wants regardless of what he says and if you want your garments back you have no choice but to pay it. He clearly doesn't care about repeat business because another poor soul will come along shortly! BEWARE READ THE OTHER REVIEWS! more

BEWARE! 8/26/2006

As the others have mentioned, prepared to be ripped off. I had two dresses altered and they originally quoted me about $200 per dress, and I ended up paying $300 for one dress and $450 for another. Because they were for my wedding, there was nothing I could do, I needed the dresses! In addition, they lost my original garment bag that had the matching wrap! more

Quoted me one price, charged me twice as much. 5/19/2006

This lady does really good work, I will give her that, but don't take her verbal price quotes at face value. She quoted me a price to have a skirt taken in and I ended up paying twice as much when I arrived to pay for it. If you do decide to go to her, make sure you get a price quote in writing and if you can't, go to a different place. If you do manage to get it in writing, tell her that if the alteration for what ever reason goes over the price quoted to call you before proceeding. Pros: Does good work Cons: schizo price quotes more

Always get a quote in Writing 5/15/2006

In April one of our bridesmaids dropped off her dress to be altered. The owner quoted her $68-$95 dollars to have the dress shortened and the top taken in. A month later we had to call the owner to see if the dress was in. When we went to pick up the dress she charged us $275.00 saying the material was hard to work with. After talking with her she dropped it down to $200.00 double her orginal estimate. Because the wedding is next week we paid the money. The next day I called to discuss the situation with her and asked her for the straps back since she never did attach them to the dress as requested. She lost the straps. She was not only rude but hung up on me. Cons: Rude more

Great finished product! 9/21/2005

I have taken my jeans here to be altered several times and definitely recommend it. There are very few places around here that know how to do an original hem on a pair of jeans. I actually had another alteration place in Bellevue try, and they screwed up an expensive brand new pair of my jeans. I brought them here, and she fixed them perfectly. You can't even see how the other place screwed up. The owner has always been extremely kind and helpful, but my only tip - bring cash or checks as they do not accept credit cards. Highly recommend! Pros: Quality, Service Cons: No Credit Cards more

Prepare to be Ripped OFF 7/9/2004

Bottom line, I was charged $160+tax to simply bring in the sides of my dress and hem up the bottom. It was my fault because I had assumed the owner would be fair in her rates, but when I went to pick up the dress, I was shocked! She had charged me $75 to bring in the sides, $60 to hem, and an additional $25 to add a zipper (that she added without telling me in advance). When I phoned her back in the afternoon, I told her that she had one unhappy customer..her response: ""I don't care! I have more than one! Good BYE!"" and hung up. Prepare to be ripped off! Pros: Easy access Cons: , Cheats, Unreasonable more
