P F Chang's China Bistro

I have been to a half dozen PF Changs over the years. I always consider them a great slightly high end Chinese food place. This is not your square boxes and bad decoration Chinese place. This is the Macaroni Grill of Chinese food. We had a bit of a wait, as we forgot it was family hour in Broomfield at 5:30 pm and we did not have reservations. I had an Asian Pear Mojito while waiting. Interesting and indicative of the fun drinks on their cocktail menu. They also have a good selection of wines by the glass. They do not have a wine list per se, but they have Opus One on the list if you really must have it. We have four fairly good Chinese food standards served family style for four people. The family style was nice, but they did not serve you, they only set it on the table. The Kung Pao chicken was odd in that is had no sauce to it, It was served completely dry. I thought that was weird. They have fried wonton bananas and ice cream for dessert. They were awesome. But I am partial to bananas and fried foods, so go figure. more

Flatiron Mall has an AMC 14 theater that is our usually movie house. We often want a quick (< 1 hr) meal before the movie and often feel like the McDonald's of Chinese - "PF Chang." It's good, extremely consistent, fast, and clean. This PF Chang's has a great waitstaff - always friendly, very efficient, and well schooled in the "here is how you prepare the hot spicy sauce" drill. There's nothing special here - which is part of what's nice - it's exactly what you'd expect from a PF Chang. more

P.F. Chang's is "always good, never great." It's extremely consistent - so no matter where you are - it's the same. The one at the Flatiron Mall is super clean with friendly service. It's usually light at lunch time if you go early enough (11:30) - rougher around 12:30. Dinner's are almost always a wait after 6pm due to the mall crowd. The food is spicy, salty, and the recipes are "American Chinese" (e.g. spun for our tastes rather than traditional.) Always good, never great. more
