I forgot... no chain restaurants 12/20/2010

I received a gift certificate to Outback Steakhouse which I was very excited about. I had not been there in years and I am not big on chain restaurants. My experiences there before were good and the food was good. So, I was pretty excited to take my girlfriend there and have a good dinner. \r \r When we arrived the hostess greeted us and right away turned her attention to her colleague to finish what she was saying to her. Just kinda rude in general, but... whatever... that happens all the time anywhere you go. I felt that we could live. \r \r So anyway, the waitress is fantastic and is very responsive with everything. Everything is going well until... the steaks come out. Now for those that don't know, Outback Steakhouse is a steakhouse. To me that means that their specialty is steak. So the first steak (my girlfriend's) comes out and it is ""well done"" instead of the medium that she had ordered. My girlfriend explains this to the waitress and the waitress happily agrees to take it back. We wait the 10 min it takes for the new one and it comes out. The manager brings the steak out and watches my girlfriend cut into the steak to make certain it is prepared correctly. It was, so we tell him everything is great. He proceeds to only look at me the entire time and tells me if we need anything just to let him know. He does not really address or acknowledge my girlfriend. I thought he was professional and very nice about everything, but it did somewhat piss my girlfriend off. \r \r She takes a bite of her steak, and does not like the Teryaki sauce they have marinated the steak in. I give her the ""give me a break look"" and she suggests that I try it. I do. I don't think vinegar and sugar counts as Teryaki sauce, but maybe we are just too picky. I agree with my girlfriend and tell her it does not taste good. \r \r The waitress comes back and we embarassingly explain the situation. We both agree that the steak is not good. She looks at us like, ""Oh well"". I tell her that we will pay for it and she accepts. We did not contact the manager or gripe. I don't want to go back period. They gave us excellent service but did not seem to care if we came back. It was in the actions. The waitress even had the nerve to say, ""Sorry.... come back next time and we will be better"". What?!? Really? So she even admits that it will be better next time suggesting that it was no good herself. \r \r I felt picky here, but... shouldn't a steak, a ""Steak"" be good? I forgot... we are talking about he Mcdonald's of steak houses. Next time I get a gift card to a place like this, I will go sell it at the place to a die hard chain restaurant lover for 1/4 of what it was worth. Maybe I would just give it away instead of wasting my time to drive all the way there. I don't know. I know this. I will never return to an Outback Steakhouse ever again. more

The Littleton location by SW Plaza Mall is solid 6/27/2009

Over the years the Outback on Wadsworth is consistently great in all aspects. Great food, good service, clean. The people who operate this location have always done a great job. Pros: consistent food and service Cons: some long waits more

Fresh Food, Great drinks, Unbelievable Service 4/13/2008

I've eaten at outback many times and it never ceases to amaze me how good the food is. They will make anything how you ask them and they have an awesome happy hour. I usually don't eat salads out but theirs is so fresh and crisp and doesn't make me ill later. Their Chargrilled Ribeye is one of the best flavored stakes I've had in my life, seriously. Pros: Awesome food, good drinks, fast service, good kids items Cons: Sometimes a long wait but they have call ahead seating. more

We go here for the hostesses. 2/4/2003

Please this is a cliche to end all cliches. It's so cliche that you end up wanting to talk in an Australian accent just to make it less so. Due to the long wait and popularity (and therefore lack of originality) they wisely hire, hot nubile young hostesses. They dont smile as much as they should, but they are well shaped and please to the eye... which is important in an age when men can't enjoy a good chunk of nearly raw beef without someone mentioning a colon. more

G'day, G'deal! 1/13/2003

We've been eating at Outback at least three times a month for two years. That says it all. Great food, consistent quality, great value, great service. more

Worthy 1/12/2003

Perhaps because this place is a chain, my expectations were not that high when my family visited. But I found their steaks to be better than expected, and overall the experience was a good one. The quality of the food didn't blow our minds, but the variety, and especially the choices for kids made this a steakhouse that a family can visit. Not too expensive, and no real ambience to speak of, but worth a visit. NOT, however, a place that makes steaks anywhere near the quality of a Brook's or a Ruth's Chris. Pros: Food, Prices, Family-Friendly more

Disappointed 1/3/2003

On chain resturants, the quality of the food and service probably vary from place to place. We have tried this restuarant on 2 different occasions and the food was nothing to rave about but the cost was higher than most steak restuarants and had a long wait. Cons: Expensive, Crowded, food fair more

No thanks 12/19/2002

There are a lot of steakhouses that I would go to before the Outback. more

You've GOT to be kidding! 12/10/2002

Outback Steakhouse rated above Ruth's Chris or Brooks? What are people in this city used to eating anyway? I have lived in Denver all my life and listened to the city being refered to as an overgrown cowtown, a cultural wasteland and an oasis of bad cuisine. I seeing a chain store like Outback rated highly on the ten best steakhouses list makes me wonder if all of Denver's bad press might be well deserved. At least Outback's food isn't quite as bad as the accents on their commercials! Perhaps if the local steakhouses painted their sirloins orange and blue? more

It's great mate 12/10/2002

Steaks are cooked to perfection, and i always take someone with me so we can share the onion bloom. Pros: great food, good service, good atmosphere Cons: crowded, expensive, poor parking more

Yummy steaks! 12/4/2002

I think Outback Steakhouse rates up there with the best in Denver (reasonably close, anyway) for a fraction of the cost of the more expensive restaurants. more

Worth the wait 12/3/2002

The Outback Steakhouse has a wonderful steak selection and many times that I have gone there for lunch or dinner I have found the place to be packed, seating is sometimes long, but it's worth the wait. The service is great and the people there make you feel right at home in a general way. I would recommend this to many people for an inexpensive place to dine out. Pros: Good value, Great service, Worth the wait Cons: Lengthy seating time, Crowded, Not enough seating more

Poor food 11/7/2002

Steaks are poor quality for price and everything is very spicy. more

Here's The Beef! 10/24/2002

I had the best steak I ever had at Outback Steakhouse. Pros: Not too expensive, Parking is ok, spacious Cons: Not enough sides, more authentic stuff more

Another Chain 9/20/2002

Outback has lost its appeal simply because there is one on every street coner. The food is gross and serve lacks in every way. more

Succumb to the Outback 9/17/2002

I've been to the Outback only once. You see, as a loyal patron of Lone*Star, I was very unwilling to change locations for my steak consumption. But, since I went with a large group, I had no choice but to succumb to the peer pressure, and go to Outback. Let me just say this: Crikes! I'm glad I succumbed! I had the Prime Rib, and let me tell you, I have yet to taste anything else that could match this juicy, flavorful goodness. Plus, the Bloomin' Onion was excellent. Major, major props to The Outback! Pros: great food, great service, within a budget Cons: crowded more

Outback - No way! 8/30/2002

Anybody who thinks Outback is one of the best steaks in Denver needs to have their head examined. The steaks are not top quality, and the seasoning they use is nothing but salt. It's nothing more than some mediocre, run of the mill chain restaurant. If you want a good steak, go to Del Frisco or Brooks and find out what steak (not to mention the outstanding service) is all about. more

Yummy 8/13/2002

We went to Outback all the time in Fl and when we moved out here there was only 1 in town and far away.... sad... now we have one down the road and I love it... great steak (and other food) for the price. more
