Outback Durham

Had a wonderful dinner at Outback tonight. The service was excellent, was very impressed by the teamwork of the staff throughout the entire dinner. The food was very good. Salad was fresh, crisp and chilled. The prime rib was cooked perfectly served with au jus and I asked for and quickly received a delicious creamy horseradish. The cheesecake was divine! And the price was great too! Very affordable for a retired couple. We will be going back often. Thanks to Kristen, Shawn and Tracey for a lovely experience. more

same old same old. I tried it for the second time (1st time about 10 years ago in NJ), and the food is just about boring. I just don't like/want to have dinner at a restaurant that serves food with not much flavor, taste and isn't original and exciting. As for the staff, I encountered two servers talking talking and still talking and couldn't get their attention for an actual five minutes (which to the average person it may have seemed like 10 minutes).. So yeah the staff it seems are all dating each other or has in the past. Unprofessional to say the least. I've learned my lesson (again) I just can't eat at the chain restaurants!\r \r How about some independants! Please. The service was terrible. Both times that my family went we waited over 1 1/2 hours to be seated even when we called ahead. We were told they over booked the second time we went. They seem to have a total disrespect for those who have called ahead. I even saw people who came in after us get seated first. I had two children with me and by the time we were seated they were starving and exhausted from the wait. We have not been back since this experience. I do not recommend it for this reason. We just ate at outback this weekend. Given all the positive things we have heard about this place being one of the better ""chain"" restaurants around, our experience was a complete letdown. The appetizer of bloomin' onion was ok, if not a little greasy. Service was poor. Waiter was not knowledgable about the menu, had to get hold of, and had to be asked constantly for drink refills. For the main courses, our porterhouse (special of the day mind you) was average. Our cut of meat was not very tender and a tad overseasoned. Worse still our ""steamed"" vegetables were served raw. Naturally, we sent it back, and were served another bowl of vege which looked as though it had been microwaved...just to make sure I guess. Lamb chops were nothing to crow about either. Overall, don't let the long wait times and crowded parking lot fool you. This place really isn't worth a visit. Pros: Can't think of any Cons: The Food and Service! more

Outback is probably one of the finest places to eat in the Durham area. Any one who puts a negative review of this place usually has their head stuck in their rear cause this place is great! Food, atmosphere and service is awesome... more

My husband and I go here frequently and we have always had an excellant dinner. I would suggest using the call ahead feature. The service is wonderful. Outback Special steak is great and the sweet potato option (vs baked potatoes or fries) is out of this world. The grilled shrimp on the barbie is soooo good. The Filet (queens cut) was tough, The Caesar salad dressing was SO salty. The Onion BLOOM was very Greasy. This rating is Times two as My date thought so also ! Cons: NO Parking, Louzy Food, Very Noisy more

I cannot fathom the infatuation people in this area seem to have with Outback Steakhouse. Everything there tastes the same, from the fish to the steaks, because they put this heinous ""Outback"" seasoning on EVERYTHING. Service is pretty bad too. I am tired of walking in to a restaurant and being served by snooty, uncaring hostesses, waitstaff, and management. Outback dining has never been a particularly good experience. i was pleasantly surprised by the food and service quality at outback. i am not partial to chain restaurants and usually avoid them. I am glad we made an exception in this case. the awesome blossom is actually very good. the higher end steaks were of great quality and cooked exactly the way i asked for. our waiter was knowledgable, attentive and pleasant. i will return!
