Do not let them pack your leftovers 3/4/2010

I used to love going to this restaurant for the authentic chinese food. On my most recent visit however, I heard the server drop my leftovers on her way to the kitchen. She then came out telling me that they are cooking me a new one for me to take home. However, within 1 minute, the takeout box came out. I asked the server how the takeout came out so fast if she had dropped my food. She promised me that it was newly cooked and they are just quick to stir up the dish. SHE WAS LYING! When I reheated the food the next day, there were still bits of the broken plate in it! I am never going back again after this incident! Their food tastes great, but PACK YOUR OWN LEFTOVERS!!! Pros: Taste good Cons: Inconsiderate more

Best sushi in Pittsburgh and least expensive! 12/12/2008

There seems to be a rule in Pittsburgh: the more expensive the sushi, the worse it is. For example, Nakama in South Side is the priciest and worst around. Orient Kitchen, however, is not only the cheapest I've found, but also, BY FAR the best quality sushi I think I've tried in this city. The rolls are large and very very fresh (there are even live fish swimming in tanks in the restaurant). The spot is small and very cozy, not pretentious which is fantastic and just downright quality. Try the sashimi - under 2 bucks and outta sight! Hot and sour soup is great, too! Pros: BEST sushi EVER!!! Cons: none!! more

authentic Chinese food 11/3/2008

Food is good, authentic Cantonese food, with a sushi bar. Big menu to choose from, like all real Chinese restaurants do. The biggest selection of seafood in Pittsburgh and their steam LIVE fish is great--and it is the only restaurant where you can find live fish in Pittsburgh. more

Incredible food & service! 3/14/2005

I read the other reviews for this restaurant, and I had to wonder if the other reviewers were talking about the same place. My boyfriend & I go here at least twice a month and we have never had bad service. In fact, they couldn't be nicer. I love all of their food, particularly the sushi. The dining area is always filled with asian customers, which can only attest to the authentic quality of their food. Be prepared to wait for a table on a Friday or Saturday night. Pros: service, food, sushi more

bad experience 5/16/2003

I am a student at University of Pittsburgh. Since this restaurant is very close to my school & apartment. I have been there for a couple of times and had terrible experience there. Frankly, the food is good but the service is not so friendly. After that, I went to ""Lucky"" instead. Although a little bit far away, the food is authentic (Real Chinese flavor if you prefer) and service is much more better. Pros: parking Cons: service no good more

O.K. food vs. Worst Service 4/27/2003

If you are looking for some Chinese dishes with a little bit different flavor, go there. If you are looking for both food and service, forget about it. Unless you order considerable dishes and pay satisfying tips, you can see they can smile. Otherwise, you will see how their attitudes spoil your appetite no matter how the fortune cookie says. The suggestion is going there no more than twice. Make your own judgement. Pros: good parking Cons: bad service more

Great Food 4/26/2003

This is the best authentic chinese restaurant in pittsburgh. I pity the ""gwi-lo"" (chinese equivalent word for ""gringo"") who reviewed the restaurant, trying only dishes like general tso's and orange beef, and giving it a meager rating of 7.x. If you have a few bucks to drop, try ordering the steamed fish. The salt-baked squid is also great. If you know what you're ordering, the food outweighs any imperfections with the restaurant that you may find. Pros: Food, Food, Food more
