Orange County School of Dance

My teenage niece who visited from Europe and is in a competitive dance group there, found the one week dance camp to be both challenging and rewarding. She was immediately welcomed by all the students. And, she received professional and technical instruction at the most highest level. Miss Joanna, the owner and instructor, is a gifted teacher who has years of experience and is just a lovely person to work with. I am so glad I did not have to drive to NYC for this level of instruction. Thank you Miss Joanna and thank you to all the students. more

This school is the best in Orange County.. It is a professionally run, no-nonsense dance school. My daughter has been instructed here since she was 2 1/2 years old. She is now 11. She has been treated with warmth and love since the day she stepped into this school I have seen her grow as a dancer and that is a credit to no one but her and Ms. Joanna. more

Orange County School of Dance in Monroe, NY is a caring and amazing place where dancers of all ages can find a home and quality instruction. I am 45 and a retired professional dancer trained in classical ballet and who studied with Maria Tallchief, Bernice Holmes and was a member of the world class Hubbard Street Dance theatre for seven years. I still dance as much as I can, and I love to take Joanna's adult classes. In my experience, Joanna Markowitz is the only instructor in the lower Orange County area who offers quality, caring instruction. She has a wide dance vocabulary which includes ballet, modern, jazz, ballroom and a lot more if she had time in her busy schedule to share it with us. Although I do not have children myself, Joanna is the only teacher in the area that I would trust their dance training too. Above all, what makes Joanna the best teacher in the area is her caring and dedication to her students of all ages. more

I am the owner of Orange County School of Dance and am rebutting a negative review. This person claims I am not qualified to teach ballet when in fact I trained at Peabody Conservatory and was invited to join their Ballet Company in addition to training at American Ballet Theatre in NYC. I trained with Lynn Simonson in jazz, a well-renowned jazz instructor throughout NYC and Europe. I have won teaching awards on the state and national level, including the latest from the U.S. Commerce Department in Washington, D.C. for "Best of Monroe" in Dance Instruction and Schools. I think that qualifies me to teach ballet, modern and jazz. I also have excellent reviews in the New York Times, Village Voice and The Villager for my dance performance. She can view them if she wants to contact me. Please stop slandering me with vicious lies. I have a thriving business with over 500 dedicated students who can vouch for my expertise.
