Love it! 1/8/2012

I can't speak for everything at the store, but their mini cupcakes and cheese cakes are awesome. I have never had any problems. Once we came in and we wanted mini cupcakes and they were out so we bought the regular size. Even though those were good, those were just too big and became too much...we are sticking to the mini one's since then. more

Will never do that again! 12/10/2011

My ovens died and I was waiting for the repairman. I am a great ""from scratch"" home baker but I was in a bind for an important family birthday party event. Ooh La La is all the rave and a very cute place. The huge expensive cake I purchased was beautiful! However.....I could not believe what I was seeing when I cut the first piece for the party in front of my guests. The layers were burned. I would have never frosted such layers and wish I had my money back. The cake was so dry it could hardly be eaten. Most of it went in the trash from the plates of my guests and I tossed the remaining cake when I cleaned up. What a waste of money and what a terrible experience. My homemade would have been so nice and in fact, I had cake recently at a friend's house from HEB. I so wish I had gone there.....I will never go back to be ripped off again at Ooh La La! more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! 9/14/2011

Honestly, we've ordered from OOH LA LA before and we've had great experiences from them but after today's experience, I'll be surprised if our office ever orders from there again! We order 8 dozen cupcakes to send to our clients to show our appreciation so we ordered from OOH LA LA two days in advance for pick-up; we picked up the cupcakes this morning and everyone was very nice, they opened one box to show us the product which looked as it should; we didn't feel the need to have to go through ALL of the boxes to check for quality since we've never had an issue with their cupcakes before. Once we got back to the office, 6 out of the 8 dozens that was ordered were ruined because of the way the boxes/holders were set up. The box and cupcake seperator are two seperate pieces and the seperator did not show adequate to hold up the cupcakes. 6 dozen cupcakes were fallen over in their boxes, icing falling off; we could not present these cupcakes to our clients. Not only would these cupcakes reflect on us, OOH LA LA would also be getting marketing, how would it reflect on them? We contacted OOH LA LA back and explained to them about what had happened to see if they're able to help fix the problem. The manager was very nice and explained that she could refund us or give us 6 dozens new cupcakes (what they currently had in store). I opted to get 6 dozen new cupcakes because we needed to send them to our clients today. The manager later informed us that they would only be able to provide us with 3 new dozens today and 3 on another day, because they've gotten a lot of complaints today about the same situation happening to other customers; we agreed and sent our receptionist to pick the new cupcakes. After agreeing to providing us with 3 dozens today and 3 dozens for another day, the manager called us back to inform us that the OWNER stated that once the cupcake leaves their shop it's out of their hands and that they will only be able to give us 1 more dozen, not 3 as promised. Once the new batch of cupcakes were brought back to our office, it was as they were this morning. flopped over because of the unsturdy holders. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with OOH LA LA and I'm very unhappy with how the situation was handled by the OWNER. Even the manager stated that MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS made the same complaints today. I don't believe our company was being unreasonable, after spending $300+ on cupcakes that weren't presentable. It should have been handled differently from the owner instead shrugging it off and stating ""once it's out of our store, it's out of our hands""; that is just a horrible way to do business. more

Poor Customer Service 5/23/2011

We are new to Katy and I've heard a lot of nice things about the bakery. I visited the store for the first time on Saturday with my 9-yr daughter. She was very excited about ordering cupcakes to bring to school on Wed morning for her B-day party. We purchased a half dozen full-sized cupcakes to try them out. I told the employee that I would be calling on Monday to place a pick up order for Tues night (24 mini cupcakes). When I called on Monday, I was told that no order could be placed because a 2-day lead time is required for any order. The employee who answered the phone was not helpful, just following the rules. Does it make sense that you need to place your order on Sat for a Tuesday evening pick up that is so small??? Needless to say my little one will be very disappointed. more

OOH La EECK!!! 4/26/2011

I am new to the Katy area, and I can't tell you how much I wanted to like this place. The curb appeal was enough to draw me in, and the atmosphere is adorable, for lack of a better word. Is it then, to much to ask for delectable, delicious desserts? Apparently so, because the quality was below average. The lemon bar my mom ordered was actually ""tough""..hard to cut with a fork, and lacked that tartness that you would expect. My daughters cupcake was dry and flavorless, and the icing left a chemical taste in my mouth. My coconut cream pie was pretty good, though, so I give credit where credit is due. This place has so much surface appeal, but it's what's inside that counts!!! PLEASE Ooh La La, step it up!! I would pay the price for a yummy cup cake. I hope this place improves. more

Beautiful location and store 12/31/2010

I had heard great applause for this bakery/coffee shop. I stopped in for some cup cakes since they seem to be a topic of delight. The shop was very clean and appealing. The cakes in the case looked very good. I purchased 3 cup cakes at a cost of $9.50. To be honest I was not impressed with the cupcakes. the flavor was all in the icing not the cake portion. I quickly came to the conclusion that I would on a return trip try the coffee and maybe a slice of cake. I had very delicious (almost outstanding) cup cakes at Kroger's bakery. For the $9.50 I spent for 3 cupcakes, Kroger would give me more than half dozen. With all the rage in cupcake talk on TV and around town I expected something I could say was WOW!. I can't say wow because its not true, and I won't tell untruths to be cool. $3.00 for one of these cup cakes is a mugging. I look forward to tasting a cup of coffee and a slice of cake soon. more

Fabulous Cake 11/4/2010

I ordered a yellow-butter cake with choc cream cheese frosting. It was moist and delicious. Everyone was asking for more cake at the party! This is my new go-to pastry place. Thanks! more

Cupcakes are dry and hard 9/18/2010

I used to be a big fan of this place, but recently their quality has gone downhill. Their cupcakes, while as pretty as ever, are so dry and hard. At $3 a cupcake, that is just unacceptable. When this first happened to me a few months ago, I thought I just got a bad cupcake, but now 4 times in a row it has happened...dry, overpriced cupcakes every time, in a variety of flavors. I see on their reviews that other customers have been experiencing the same disappointment, which is such a shame given that they used to be pretty good. What happened?! The store's decor is so cute, and the staff has always been very friendly and helpful. But...is it too much to ask for a MOIST cupcake?! I don't know what the problem is with their recipe (or maybe they are freezing the cupcakes, which can cause dryness/hardness), but I really hope they fix the problem and can go back to making great cupcakes! Until I start hearing better things about their cupcakes again, I will not be wasting my money on them anymore. I will say that their cheesecake is still amazing, though! I ended up having half of my husband's key lime cheesecake because my cupcake was inedible! Their cheesecake is wonderful. Ooh La La, if you're reading these reviews, PLEASE no more hard, dry cupcakes! more

Do Not Eat Here! You Can Bake Better Out of a Box at Home 8/29/2010

Unfortunately, there aren't many bakeries west of hwy 6 for people living in Katy. So when I asked around, everyone recommended Ooh La La. More like Ooh La Don't! I purchased a slice of cake and a slice of pie. And I've had cupcakes ordered from Ooh La La at a friend's party. The cakes are dry and tasteless and the texture leads me to believe that the owner uses a boxed mix. The ""Red Velvet"" cupcake did not have cream cheese frosting but a white, sweet pseudo-frosting that tasted like it came from a grocery store bakery. The chocolate cake was lacking in chocolate flavor. The only thing good about the oreo pie were the oreos. Bottom line, this bakery makes their items overly sweet to compensate for a lack of flavor. While their portions are large, why spend the money (and the calories) on something you could buy at the grocery store down the street for cheaper. Sadly, Katy-ites don't have many options for bakeries so this place serves junk and flourishes. more

3rd Time Not a Charm! 7/20/2010

My 2 cousins live nearby & have raved about this place since it opened. The first time I went in there I tried a cupcake and was very unimpressed! It was so dry! The cupcakes are also huge so you think you?re getting a big dessert for your money, but after one bite I didn?t want the rest. Plus, there?s so much cake it?s impossible to get a good cake-to-frosting ratio. At my cousins? urging, I gave the place a second try on another visit. I tried what I think they call cake truffles, but what I have always refer to as cake balls. Again, I was disappointed. I love to bake and have made better cupcakes and cake balls using boxed cake mixes & frosting from a can! The 3rd chance for this place came when I helped my cousin pick up the pre-ordered cupcakes for my other cousin?s bridal shower. The order was incorrect and after dealing with a very rude woman behind the counter for about 10 mins we learned she was the owner and there was nothing she was willing to do to fix the problem. We ended up with a couple dozen horribly dry cupcakes that didn?t match our order. Thankfully, this summer, my cousins came to visit me out on the East coast, & I had the pleasure of taking them to real bakeries & cupcake shops. They both agreed they won?t be going back to this joint! Pros: The Brown and Pink Color Scheme is Cute Cons: Everything Else!!!! more

Not So Thrilled 7/7/2010

Since we don't have any bakeries to speak of in south Katy, I had high hopes for this one. It has many positives, but I'm a bit perplexed about the rave reviews. I find the cupcakes to be very dry, especially for the price. I'm not giving up on them, though. Perhaps they will read this and make the necessary changes. Pros: Cute shop, sweet staff, some good pastries Cons: Very dry, pricey cupcakes more

Death by Cupcake...Who would've thought?!?! 2/16/2010

Friday's Margaritaville, Saturday's Lemon Tart...Oh my! It doesn't get much better than this place! I ordered a dozen of these babies for a dinner party and many of my guest took their desert home because they wanted others to see it before they took a bite out of their lovely beauties!! The cupcakes and taste even better!! Make sure to try the Friday Margaritaville...it's a personal favorite of mine with it's real baked in tequila! YUM! Pros: Best cupcake flavors ever! Cons: $3.00 a cupcake? more

Well worth the drive!! 2/12/2010

Made the trek from Sugar Land to get some goodies for my sweetie, and dear friends. Easy to find, charming dessert shop! There was plenty of help who were polite, and I was waited on pretty quickly even tho the place was hopping! I strongly recommend this delightful shop! I bought a selection of cupcakes, tarts, and a cream puff (hubby's fave). Everything wonderful! Even the other customers were delightful!! Please come to Sugar Land!! Pros: Everything fresh and delicious! Cons: Too far from Sugar Land! more

Wonderful Desserts! 1/10/2010

This place is so great! I love to stop by for dessert with some friends in the evenings. They have some tables set up outside to enjoy the nice weather and inside the atmosphere is awesome! There are plenty of desserts to choose from and if you don't know what something is, just ask and they will tell you! The cookies are my favorite! They also make great smoothies and coffee drinks. This is definitely one of the best places to meet an old friend to catch up or just to stop in by yourself for a treat! Pros: great atmosphere, good customer service, fresh desserts, etc Cons: none! more

Best desserts in town 1/10/2010

I have been a loyal customer at Oh La La for a while now and I have to say that they are the best place in town for any type of dessert you are looking for. I have never bought anything that I didn't like there and never had anyone complain about this place. There is a reason there are so many 5 star reviews. Don't read the bad reviews, they obviously do not know what they are talking about. I regret that they had bad service but I just want to say that I have never been disappointed at Oh La La. Go out of your way 2 minutes to stop by this place and grab a piece of cake, muffins, cookies, coffee, etc. You will NOT regret it! Pros: Best italian cream cake Cons: nothing more

Still the Best 1/9/2010

I have been a customer at Ooh La La ever since it opened a couple years back. I have continued to be impressed with the quality, freshness and variety of their desserts. I have explored numerous other dessert shops (crave, Dessert Gallery, etc) but none come close to topping Ooh La La. I continue to trek far out to Katy just for the delicious desserts (I can never leave without a Chocolate Chewy cookie!), the pleasant atmosphere, and the service. As a response to recent reviews, I must say that I, myself, have never received less than attentive service from the Ooh La La staff. Both the front staff and the pastry chefs have always been very helpful. Moreover, the creative minds behind the menu at this top Houston dessert spot have never ceased to surprise and delight my taste buds, and the special orders they can do are phenomenal. I expect Ooh La La to be a stable of the Houston dessert scene for years to come, and hope that the rumors of expansion are true! Pros: Food, service, ambiance Cons: Wish it was more centrally located more

Indifferent 1/9/2010

this place is just adorable! everything looks so cute, the tables and chairs and the general atmosphere is so inviting. the cupcakes look really pretty and the other dessert items look pretty cute. however, i would have to say the taste is mediocre. not bad, but not great. anyway, the point of my post. all of these reviews below me seem extremely passionate about the art of the cupcake and this place in general. all the good ratings are so over the top only the owner or someone else who would benefit would write such things. furthermore, the bad ratings could only be written by a person who is allergic to dessert. the reviews on this site are crazy! the bottom line is that if you have a lot of extra money sitting around and are too lazy to bake for your own family, take them here. Pros: cute chairs & decor, cute looking cupcakes Cons: expensive...INSANE workstaff. more

Yummy desserts; Great experience always 1/7/2010

It's disturbing to read such strong negative reviews for a place that is so good. Why such anger about dessert? Pros: All good Cons: No cons more

A huge disappointment! 1/2/2010

I heard about ooh la la from a friend of mine and decided to give it a try early last week. Upon walking into the restaurant i was instantly impressed with the wonderful decor and atmosphere. I was so excited to eat the pretty cupcakes! Much to my disappointment, the pros stopped there. The staff was rude and clearly wanted to be elsewhere, I kept overhearing their discussion of parties and other things that were completely inappropriate for a business establishment! I ordered a fruit cheesecake and a latte. The cheesecake looked very pretty but it unfortunately tasted old and hard. It definitely did not taste like it was freshly baked or worth the price. I definitely will not be returning! Pros: Nicely decorated, convenient location Cons: Old food, unprofessional employees more
