When they opened this restaurant, the food was good, the restaurant was clean and the service was efficient and friendly, that's why I kept coming back, specially since the kids liked it.\r The last time I was there the experience was terrible, the food didn't look or tasted fresh, it was more like microwave re-heated. I instructed everyone not to touch the tortilla chips since they were all broken down in small pieces like if they had been collected from leftover baskets from other tables. There was also a weird detergent-cleaner smell through the restaurant that didn't mix well with the food being served.\r The service was poor, from the greeters to the waiters, noone smiled, and it seem that they wanted to be anywhere else than in the restaurtant serving people, and it showed.\r There was a mix up in the order and the service was turtle slow, from the drinks to the food.\r Needeless to say the tip was small (TIPS=To Insure Proper Service), since this was definitively not proper service even for a franchise type of restaurant. This visit to this restaurant was on a Sunday afternoon around 1:00 pm with a half packed restaurant.\r They won't get me crossing this border again!!! more

On the Border used to be a pretty decent for a chain restaurant. It wasn't the best Mexican you'd have, but certainly not the worst either. As of late, it seems the place has gone completely downhill. My last two experiences have been beyond bad - problems with the food and cleanliness. Service was decent (exactly what you would expect from that type of restaurant). I'm not really sure what happened, but hopefully corporate management can turn this place around before it ends up like Bennigans. more

Needs a management overhawl 8/19/2006

Had to come back and edit this review. They have really taken a turn for the worse. My wife ordered the Big Borderito...and it came out in less than 2 minutes... no joke. It was also cold! Obviously, they just grabbed a burrito that someone returned and sent it our way. We also ordered tacos and they came out so soggy that they fell apart. The issue with the tacos happened at least 4 times between my first review and now. It's a shame because I really liked this place, but I won't be coming back any time soon.\r \r -----------2006---------------------------------------------------------I've only tried two chain mexican restaurants and have been satisfied with both(the other being Chevy's) It is true that they are not quite as tasty as some of the more authentic mexican restaurants, but the food is definitely not bad. The tacos are loaded with meat, the chicken enchiladas are tasty, and who doesn't like chips and salsa? If you want authentic Mexican food...take a trip to Cancun or Cozumel and you may try some. If you want cheap mexican cuisine and excellent margaritas, come here. Pros: Quick Seating, Good food on occassion Cons: Parking, Lack of consistency in Service and quality more

Same old thing 4/1/2006

If you're looking for a cool place to go have a couple of beers, munch on some chips with ""salsa"" and just have an average ""mexican"" dinner, this is your place. However, if you like the authentic tasty mexican food, you're better off driving a few more miles and going to any taqueria in homestead... They're just like Chevy's or any other americanized mexican food. Oh, and get ready to wait on line. Pros: Ambiance, Bar Cons: Food more

Mexican? 3/1/2006

I've tried this place on several occasions hoping for satisfaction and I must say that I gave up. On every visit, food was bland and seemed to be right out of the microwave. Service was nothing to brag about and most visits were not during peak hours. For this place to be considered #1 makes it obvious most folks in South Florida have never tasted real authentic Mexican cuisine. Pros: Seated quickly Cons: Food, Service, Taste more

Awesome 3/30/2005

The food was great and affordable. The ambiance was friendly and cheerful. Definitely a place I would bring my family and friends for get together or just me and my husband for a night of dining alone. Pros: good price, good food, good service more

More Chain Restauraunt Mexican 5/22/2004

This was a great disappointment. I'd always driven by to see its outdoor patio packed with people. Now I wonder why!! The food is mediocre at best--your typical suburban chain restaurant fare--and overpriced. Drinks are not much better, although they do have a decent beer selection. This restaurant is crammed into a strip mall with another popular chain restaurant, clothing stores, a diner, a Chuckie Cheese, so plan on paying for valet parking!!! Pros: Outdoor Patio Cons: , Crowded, Mediocre Food more

This place is horrible 3/1/2004

The staff is extremely rude, from the hostesses to the bartenders to the wait staff. The food is tasteless and I believe it comes frozen. You are better off driving to an authentic mexican restaurant in Homestead. Stay away from here!!!! Pros: NONE, NONE, NONE Cons: , STAFF, CROWDED more
