I am so happy I stumbled upon this salon! After having my hair bleached out at a different salon couple days earlier (not the way i wanted it at all), I came to Olivierio desparate for help. I did not feel comfortable with my new hair at all. At first I was pleasantly surprised by the service- they were super nice and actually listened to what I disliked about my hair and what i wanted to get done. Then they offered a couple of professional solutions of how to fix it and reassured me that if i still don't like it, we'll fix it again. I ended up getting a trim and lowlights, which were very carefully and professionally done and made me look and feel a 100% more natural. I felt comfortable in my own skin again, and you know how important for a woman it is to be confident and feel attractive. Thank you Olivierio for giving me my confidence back! You will definately see me again! more

I was really impressed with this salon. I made a same-day appointment and walked right in an hour later. I got both a hair cut and highlights and was really pleased with the results. I've had terrible experiences with highlights that had not come out as I had wished, but when I went here they turned out perfectly- very tasteful. I was also given a student discount, so the price was incredibly fair. I've been recommending Oliverio to all of my friends since, especially those who are looking for a good salon near campus. The experience of those working there definitely shows. more

Great, quaint little spot. Staff was friendly–I talked to the nail technician about traveling, jobs, the economy–and to-the-point. I was lucky enough to have an appointment the day that the new fall nail colors arrived and found the perfect purply shade for my tootsies! Didn't feel like they were rushing me out of the shop for the next customer: A big plus. Will definitely return. more

"" ... and although he continually spouts off 'Now I don't share my opinion... this is a place to make people pretty, not share my opinions' .... he told me his uncomfortable opinions my entire pedicure.\r \r To top it off, the pedicure is a shotty makeshift chair with a foot bath that doesn't keep the water warm.\r \r I highly suggest that if you want a peaceful experience where someone does not berate you with their small-mindedness, you go somewhere else.""\r --as copied from another review.\r \r This is sooo true! \r \r I learned all about how some people don't take care of their feet and he was quite judgmental about them. Made me very uncomfortable and fearful of what he would think of me and my daughter...\r \r Also, the description of the salon as written on groupon is EXTREMELY misleading and does not give an accurate description of what you will encounter when you walk in. Had I not paid in advance I probably would have left. I booked pedicures for myself and my daughter at the same time, thinking that we would sit together while our feet would be made beautiful. Instead, we had to wait for each other since there is no facility to do two pedicures at one time. I cannot imagine paying the ""full"" price for this pedicure and feel ripped off at the discounted price -- will not go back, even though the owner offered us free pedicures and manicures if we wrote a good review. Not worth it at any price...\r \r We won't comment on the quality of the work. It is too upsetting.\r \r Big disappointment. more

Ron does amazing work! I have gotten much more expensive haircuts that don't compare to Ron's expertise. I also appreciate that he explains everything he does and even discusses with me different styles that could work with my hair. more

Although the wife of this operation is lovely, does a wonderful job on nails... the husband is very clear homophobic and although he continually spouts off ""Now I don't share my opinion... this is a place to make people pretty, not share my opinions"" .... he told me his uncomfortable opinions my entire pedicure. He also called the far left ""Nazis"" and ""Communists"", insinuating they're basically the same thing. To top it off, the pedicure is a shotty makeshift chair with a foot bath that doesn't keep the water warm. more

Mother/Daughter Mani/Pedi 5/19/2012

As a treat for my mother and I, before our family vacation to Las Vegas, I bought my mom and I each a Mani/Pedi at Oliverio Hair & Nails. This was my mother's first Mani/Pedi ever!We had a wonderful time relaxing, chatting, and our nails looked beautiful for our vacation! The owners were so sweet! We enjoyed the conversation we shared with them very much! And who would have known, they were able to share with us recommendations of things to do on our vacation. I will certainly be back to visit Oliverio again! more

very happy with my hair cut! 2/29/2012

My hair was in major need of a trim when I went in for my appointment. But Ron did a really great job at cleaning everything up. I'm usually a little nervous when people cut my bangs because they typically make them too short, but they are just right. The rest of my hair looks about ten times more healthy too! Over all, I enjoyed the atmosphere, service and conversation, and would recommend this to anyone looking for a great, reasonably priced hair cut! more

love my new look 9/19/2011

I recently got a cut and body wave here and love it.I have straight hair and wanted something different.Ron suggested a wave.So easy to style and care for. more

Worst experience for a hair cut 3/23/2011

I really don't want to give any star to this place. The guy named Ron is very rude and weird. Not professional at all. He is also a racialist. He has no confidence on his cutting skill. He even cannot finish my hair cutting. Worst experice for a hair cut in the United States. more

very quality, fast service, reasonable pricing 2/23/2010

Taunya is absolutely the BEST there is when it comes to waxing. I have been to other salons and other cities, and no one seems to have the experience that she does. It takes her half the time it takes anywhere else to get a waxing, (which also = less pain) and her price is unbeatable (the student discount is highly appreciated). She is very friendly, and confident in her work. Pros: experience Cons: sometimes a bit chilly more

Nice for men hair cut, friendly 10/17/2009

The guy, Ron, is friendly and you can ask for the way you want. The place is clean n nice also. My boyfriend n had the haircut today. Yes, he used scissors. I would say pretty decent hair saloon in Pittsburgh in terms of price and service received. Pros: friendly, decent haircut, caring +student discount Cons: - more

Good haircut 6/26/2009

Happy with the place Pros: Good work Cons: A little pricey more

perfect at cutting guys hair 5/15/2009

I'm a male college student and i've been coming here ever since my freshman year. he is simply amazing. he cuts with scissors (something supercuts won't do) i always leave happy...the one downer is the price... around 25 for a cut...but its worth it. no one does it better so I have no choice but to pay up. Pros: actually uses scissors at your request!!!! Cons: price more

Better than the bad reviews make it sound!! 4/24/2009

I just went for the first time and I love my cut. I have curly hair, which I think isn't that hard to cut, but I have had poor haircuts in the past (somewhere else). Ron was quiet at first but became friendlier as time went on. He listened to everything I like and don't like. He taught be about different Aveda products that would work for my hair, and let me pick which one I wanted to try. After looking at the reviews on here, I was nervous to go to Oliverio's but I was desperate!! Luckily, he gave me a really cute A-line cut. My hair is curly but thin and he made it look deceivingly full of volume!! My only complaint is that the salon could have nicer interior design. ($36 for a womens cut) Pros: Last Minute appointments and listens well!! Cons: Not the prettiest salon! more

love this small salon 7/20/2008

my husband and i just moved to pittsburgh and were looking for an aveda salon.we were both very happy with our haircuts.i also got highlights and waxing.the color looks great .my waxing was probably the fastest i have ever had, which is definately a plus.ron and tania are very friendly, very accomodating and ran on time.we will definately go back. Pros: great service more

Not Impressed 6/24/2008

I went here for highlights. I told him what I wanted and he suggested adding low lights as well. I agreed, but was frustrated because he didn't even use foils...he just let the dyed strands of hair sit on top of my other hair! I also got my hair cut. He thinned out my hair A LOT and didn't even ask me if that was ok. When I was finished my hair color looked almost exactly the same except for two blonde streaks and my hair cut looked limp. I went to ULTA in the waterfront to get it fixed and my stlyist said that there were ""specks"" of blonde all trough my lower layers of hair and that she could see the ""jagged"" scissor lines from where he thinned it. She told me it would take at least two more haircuts to fix this....NEVER AGAIN! Pros: cheap Cons: bad service, hair looks awful more

Good Job 6/16/2008

Ron was very kind and friendly. He cut my hair exactly the way I asked him to, and did a good job. The price was very reasonable and the student discount was great! more

Manicure at Oliverio's 12/15/2007

I got a manicure at Oliverio's recently, and for $12 +tip, I was very satisfied with the service. My appointment started ten minutes late (which I thought was strange because they asked me to come in 10 minutes before my original scheduled time), the process itself was quick. Taunya gives a very basic, efficient manicure, trim, file, buff, with one cream, primer/colour/top coat. This is probably not the ideal place to a full-on pamper me treatment; it IS the place to get in and out for that weekly mani-maintenance. The best thing about Oliverio's is the great selection of colours: pearls, blues, shimmery, sparkley, matte, dark-to-light, even copper and a shimmery olive green! Taunya really knows OPI's collections (of which there are many), so she'll be able to find your perfect colour. Pros: Great colour selection, efficient service Cons: No-frills basic mani more

Professional Hair Cut 10/17/2007

Ron is a very kind guy, and is a very professional hair designer.. He tries to fully satisfy his customer with the result of the haircut. No surprise why he has been in busines for 17 years. Pros: Near CMU, Cheaper for Students, Good Service more
