This small, friendly restaurant has the best deal in town: between 5:30 and 6:30 PM, you get an appetizer, dinner and dessert for $32. Considering that the entree I had my eye on alone cost $30, this is a steal. They were pushing the elk, but I am not much of a game person, so I ordered the tournedos of beef, which was stuffed with pinenuts, goat cheese and truffle oil, wrapped in bacon and finished with an excellent sauce. That's a lot of flavors in one dish, but the total effect was nirvana. The meat was perfectly cooked, and the accompaniments complemented the dish. (I ate everything -- unusual for me -- and used the bread to sop up every last bit of the delicious sauce. An appetizer of sweetbreads and mushrooms in another succulent sauce was just as good, and a very good creme brulee finished the experience. My only quibble -- a minor one -- is that their selection of beers was a bit limited. Still, when I came back the next day, the excellent hostess remembered exactly what I had and asked if I'd like it again. Flavor, service and value -- gotta love it.
Pros: superb Early Bird deal 7 days a week, friendly & efficient staff
Cons: limited beers
