This is not a business that I trust. The owner also owns consignment shops in FL and I feel she saves the nicer items donated to sell there for a profit. Its a foundation also, not a non-profit. My friend wanted to rent a guest house on her property in Moss Creek. She told me that the owner of Off Island Thrift had very nice furniture pieces stashed in her garage and all around. She felt that she was selling these donated items on Craigslist for herself. I do see them always advertising on Craigslist for items to be donated. Her husband is an attorney who set up a foundation for her. I highly suspect that very little money (if any at all) truly goes to help those with cancer. She has been known to give people with cancer financial help, but they must pay her back. I have been in her store a few times and saw items with holes in them that she was selling for more than a thrift store should charge. Items had stains also. One wicker patio couch was over $100 and the leg was all torn up along with mediocre overpriced items. It's ridiculous. Someone that used to work for her told me she had 3 consignment stores in FL. It makes perfect sense to me as she must also keep the best designer clothing to be sold there for her profit. I am sorry, but I do not trust her or her business. It's horrible to use donations meant for those fighting cancer to help pad your pocket!
