Stop - Don't Leave Your Shoes Here 11/11/2008

I always had great experiences at Odessa but learned the hard way that it is under new ownership. Four words for you: expensive, unreliable, careless and rude. After being told that it would cost $50 to repair the heals of a pair of stiletto boots - these same boots were not even ready the day AFTER my slip said they would be ready. Upon arrival to pick up the boots - the zipper had been broken in their process. They told me it would be three days before they could fix their mistake. They did not apologize or offer a refund and refused a refund under my plea. This was a few days ago and today, for the first time, I am wearing the boots....after walking in them no further than around my office - the entire heel (just a kitten heal on a very well made pair of boots) snapped off completely....it has to be related to their careless work. When I tried to express my dissatisfaction (calmly) - the employee got in my face and said, ""will you shut up and let me talk."" Not so great customer service to go with not so great work. p.s. - turns out my co-worker had a similar nightmare last week. Cons: Service, Quality of Work and Pricing more

You Should Know First 8/22/2008

I found out that Oddessa Shoe Repair is under different ownership. The two locations that are very good is the one in natick, on route 9 and Downtown Crossing in the old Pie Alley. Pros: The price is the best Cons: Boston is a small location more

Horribly rude 5/19/2008

I went in to have a pair of shoes stitched...one had a small rip in the patent leather. I was having the other one done as a precaution. The shoes are navy blue. First the clerk told me that he could do it, but he only had black thread and it would be sewn on the outside. He looked annoyed when I asked if I could see the thread next to the shoe to determine what it would look like. He allowed me to come back to where the thread was all set up, and sitting right below the machine was a spool of navy thread. When I asked if he could use that he said, ""Oh. I forgot I had that."" The repair would cost $10, and he said he would need the money up front. When I pointed to the sign directly above my head that said ""Orders over $10 require a 50% deposit"", he said ""Oh yeah, I need to take that sign down. It still needs to be paid up front."" It was then that I asked him why he was being so unpleasant....the body language, the tone, the unwillingness to be somewhat accommodating to a paying customer was annoying, though, unfortunately, not surprising. Needless to say, I walked out with my shoes in my bag and will find somewhere else to spend my hard earned money. Cons: rude staff more

Avoid as a plague 12/10/2007

The vendor is really mean. The service is overpriced and non-dependable. I dropped off my shoes at 9 am. That was a very simple repair which usually takes no more than 15 min. But when I came at 6 pm to pick up my order the guy even did not start working on my order. No apologies were offered. more

Shoe Repair 12/4/2006

I saw the bad reviews this place was getting but one of my picky co-workers takes her shoes here and so I gave a try. He charged me $50 for 3 pairs of shoes to have new heel rubber on all three and a new sole on one pair. That may seem steep to some, but average compared to what I paid on Broad Street and at a little place on Washington St., near Downtown Crossing ( I had to go back to both because of poor workmanship). The guy at Odessa was very kurt with his customers and I saw a woman who was acting like an idiot, be treated like an idiot. Hey, I thought it was reasonable at the time. Anyway, the workmanship was excellent and the shoes were ready a day early. This is the only place I've been able to recommend. Pros: Quality work, average price. more

really bad experience 7/11/2006

i was appalled at the rudeness of the attending clerk. i chose them for the convenience and probably paid way to much for the repair - i'll never go back. more

TERRIBLE- DO NOT GO THERE 2/27/2006

I was charged 15.00 to have two tiny heel lifts put on a pair of dress boots. Two weeks later the staple poked through the heel on one boot and the heel slid off the other boot. I brought them back and they were repaired while I waited. Two days later the same heel came off and was torn. The guy at Odessa told me that the heels were worn and would need to be replaced!! He insisted that the heels were glued- they were not. I asked him if he really felt that I should expect to have the heels replaced every two weeks? He asked me how long I thought they should last. I told him I thought he was giving me a bunch of jive and that I would never come back there. TERRIBLE!!! Over priced and poor workmanship. more

Horrible. a RIP OFF!!!! Unprofessional 7/20/2005

I brought in 4 pairs of shoes to just have a rubber pad added to the bottom of the soles and he charged me 35 for EACH pair. amounting to $140 total. I told him that was insance and he said he'd give me a discount. He proceed to give me a 1% discount. I was shocked. I said, this is unacceptable, I always get my shoes done in Cambridge or even NYC and I was never charged this amount. He acts like a sly sales man. Horrible. Will NEVER EVER go back. Cons: RIP-OFF, DISHONEST, BAD more
