Therapists/Receptionists not very helpful, Doctor...good 1/4/2011

This place is such a joke. If you don't have the right type of insurance nor a lot of money to pay, they will become nasty with you and won't be helpful. They are a money hungry clinic. I understand one must pay or have the right type of insurance, but there's a way you talk to people about that. You don't mistreat people with mental illness nor upset them. The receptionists are low lifes, their only making $9 an hour, so they will lie, misplace your papers, and give you the run-around. If your a woman who dress nice or is attractive, the female receptionists will get jealous if you look better then them, and then they really will give you the run around and give you mean looks. The therapist I had, Bettie Johnson, a black lady, seemed helpful, but will occupy your time talking money and insurance, I never got to complete one session with her, without interference, she's either back and forth on the phone, or talking money. There may be some good therapists there, but most aren't. Dr. Pope, the psychiatrist there, is an older man, who you will have to talk up loud to, he's good, but its hard to get in to see the psychiatrist. Oakland Psychological Clinic, like to hold medicine over your head, you have to see their therapist when they say, or no doctor. They don't care about your problems. It's either their way or no way. Not a good way to treat mental health patients. Mental health patients need to start posting reviews on the Internet to let people know about these places, maybe then these places will change how they run business. Mental health patients have rights and suppose to be respected and treated with dignity, if not, we can report these problems, there's a little blue book that every mental health patient gets that tells you your rights. Most mental health patients don't complain, so that's why so many mental health places disrespect us, use the power of the internet and writing reviews to voice your concerns and how you were treated, good or bad. more
