Keep Dr. Chua he's the greatest...Dr. Chua is the greatest! He performed a miracle on me,I am Bipolar 1 and and always had severe depression where I slept for weeks and tried so many antidepressant for 13 years and gave up till I met him He fixed it! He fixed what I thought never could be fixed and then I asked him to do another miracle and fix my energy level and he did,i had no energy but now I do,I'm alive again,I'm so glad I met Dr. Chua.and my last psychiatrist retired so I had to find another one and I met the greatest! more

Delays, judgement and belittling. 2/1/2012

I have used Nystrom and Assoicates Twice for therapy and will never use them again. The first time was in 2010 for bereavment issues. The therapist would sit in the sessions and brush her hair and pass gas. I decided to give them again try in late 2011 as I was going through some anxiety issues. The therapist was always running 10-20 minutes lated belittled my diet and exercise goals (10 inches and 10 pounds in one month with just changing my diet and exercising) which she recommended to me to help with my anxiety. Then she got upset at me because I did not like the book Boundries and found it unhelpful for me. She often would use terms like copdependent to label me (though all of my family and friends were in disagreement) and when I told her I found these lables to be offensive she told me this was my problem. She also made me buy a therapy book and told me to look through it but never told me what specifically to do with it. I will not be going back. more

Found little time spent with patient 11/29/2011

I found Nystrom to be far more interested in generating revenue than helping my son. I timed my son's time in the appointments. They averaged 12 minutes. The bills averaged approximately $200.00. Furthermore, I found Nytrom's customer service represntatives to be aggressive and rude. Their montra was if the doctor lists a service you will be charged. When pressed, they acknowledge there is no way to verify the service was provided. I recommended considering other options, unless you think paying $200.00 for 12 minutes, without any way to know if the service you are being billed for is being provided is acceptable. more

Great Office!!! 2/11/2011

Friendly staff, great therapists, and free parking! It seems like any service related to mental health or chemical/addiction treatment is all under one roof. Nice to be able to go to one place! And they have in-home therapy! more

Great service 8/4/2009

I've been going here for 6 months now and the service is great. The front desk staff is very friendly and my Dr. is extremely helpful! Thanks, Nystrom & Associates!!! Pros: easy parking & friendly staff, more

Nystrom has saved my family 4/2/2009

I don't know why so many people left negative reviews on here? I absolutely loved the service I received! three members of my direct family have gone to Nystroms and I have referred many friend and co-workers there. I spoke with the nices person to set up my first appointment and the parking there was great! I was referred to see a doctor for medication while I was receiving therapy. It's great that Nystrom has so many services under one roof so I didn't have to run all over town...The other two people on my family went for chemical dependency counseling and DBT. They were very flexible and willing to work with my family to alwyas get us in for appointments around the same time so we could all be there together as a family. Thank you Nystrom and Associates for your help!!! Pros: Ease of making an appointment, parking, service is friendly. Cons: nothing. Nystrom truly helped my family more

All The Good Ones Leave 7/18/2008

I can't say I would recommend this facility. I had been going here for over a year. During that time I was forced to switch providers on three seperate occassions due to those providers leaving. More recently the last 5 appointments I made caused problems. The first was cancelled the day before. The second was cancelled that same morning. During the third I actually drove out there only to find they had scheduled me with the wrong provider entirely an could do nothing for it. Then my recent provider leaves and they don't even see fit to contact their clients- VERY disappointing! I made an appointment with a new provider who then sees fit to go an refuse me service due to -my- late cancellation. This is the exact reason ""Christian"" companies have problems- the large amount of hypocrisy. I WILL NEVER go here and strongly suggest you think twice as well. While a few of the providers give great service, they also have a high chance of leaving mysteriously. Pros: Generally Good Service Providers Cons: Unreliable, Long Wait Times (10-30 minutes on average) more

Don't go here for help! 3/10/2008

I have never been so disappointed in a clinic. Never returned phone calls, never returned my letters, voice mail box was always full, screwed up on numerous occassions with billing. They called to remind me for my appointment. They obviously have my phone number. The day of the appointment it snowed so they closed and didn't even bother to call. I would not recommend going to this facility. It is obvious they only care about money and not helping others. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. more

Don't expect much 2/11/2008

I went to Nystrom and Associates for medication management. I had not seen my provider for quite awhile because I had switched jobs and was waiting for my insurance to come current. I went to my pharmacy to get a medication refill and was told that they had recieved a fax denying my refill from N&A - when I asked why they just stated that it was denied. (I was not aware that w/out an appointment, I would be refused medication.) N&A was an hour away from my workplace, so I called a closer provider and made an appt. Now anyone who's ever seen a psychiatrist knows that it takes forever to get in!! I got the earliest appt I could with a new Dr and called the old one's office and explained the situation leaving a message asking for one more refill so that I didn't have to deal with withdrawal symptoms. (The earliest appt I could find was 1 month away so the new Dr's office told me to call N&A and ask for one more refill as a professional courtesy until I could be seen.) \r At this point I had gone about 4 days without medication - not a good thing because I was getting more depressed and dizzy by the minute. The next day, I finally got a message on my way home from work denying me meds unless I made an appt @ N&A. They also said that according to their records I must not have been taking my medication consistently (not true - got the Rx from them before the other one ran out just to avoid this sort of thing!) They also told me that I couldn't see someone at their office for several weeks meaning a total w/drawl from my meds and half a day off of work to be seen in their office. On top of all this, they had recently charged me $800 over what I owed for past services causing me to have to use my lunch hour to fight with them and the insurance company to get it corrected! Argh!!! \r Never, ever again. Extremely unprofessional and dangerous to let a client withdraw from anti-depressants. Being a Mental Health Counselor myself, I would never recommend them. Pros: No continuity of care, poor communication more

Nystrom Associates New Brighton 1/10/2008

I had a good experience with the psychologist working there. He was very personable and made an attempt to make me feel welcome. He also was very informative and helpful. I was glad that I made the decision to go to this clinic after meeting with him. I did not have a good experience with Mrs. Simonsen whom prescribed my medications. She barely cracked a smile and made me feel uncomfortable. The lack of interest in my concerns with medications and treatment was evident. She never asked me questions regarding my ADD diagnosis which I thought was odd. I was reluctant to ask questions and felt that she was judging my character, especially when I talked about sexual side effects from medications (I am not married). I don't feel she likes her job nor cares too much about me as a patient. I do not recommend seeing her at this clinic. I will try seeing an MD instead. Pros: psychologist Dale Cons: Sara Simonsen more

May not be what you think. 9/11/2007

Presents as a ""Christian"" counseling center, but my experience left me highly doubtful of this. Office staff was warm, friendly and helpful. Appointment was 1/2 hour late, and speaking with others in the waiting room this was the norm. The MD I saw was abrupt, unkind, and seemed annoyed with me for questioning my long wait time, expanding upon the MD's hectic morning including the fact that they had not had time to use the bathroom all day, and that I was just going to have to deal with long wait times, there was nothing that could be done, etc.... Seemed very frustrated with the situation and with me. After a short time of interaction I decided I was not a good match with this MD, and as I Ieft the MD called after me in the hallway that I was making a very bad choice, and that it takes 6+ months to get in with a new provider. I felt bullied, and there was absolutely no respect given to my valuable time. I have schoolchildren and needed to be home by a certain time, and there was not enough time for my scheduled 1hour appt. after my long wait time. It was a waste of my time and money, but there are other psychiatrists there so you may have a different experience than I had. I was taken aback because it was the worst treatment I have ever recieved from any healthcare professional, let alone in a office that claims to be ""Christian"" ...but again the office staff was delightful, and I hope your experience with this office will be better than mine. Pros: Office staff is wonderful! Cons: Was unhappy with the MD I saw. more
