I had a similar (negative) experience to other people. A guy came knocking at my door, asking if we wanted a quote for double-pane windows. He wouldn't/couldn't give a quote - we had to schedule an appointment with an estimator. We agreed to do that.
The estimator came the next day and started asking a lot personal questions of my wife and me - totally unrelated to quoting for windows. I told him I had a busy day, and I would prefer to talk about the quote for the windows. He measured all the windows, then came back into the house and opened a notebook with what looked like a 30-40 page presentation - with nothing about windows. It took 2 or 3 minutes for the first page of the presentation. I reminded him that I had a busy day, and I just wanted to get a quote for installing double-pane windows.
As soon as I said that, he put his notebooks away, said that I'm wasting his time and got up and left. He refused to give a quote without me sitting through what appeared to be a one-hour session of brainwashing. His attitude upon leaving was very rude.
This is not right. He should respect the customer's time. If the company refuses to give a quote without a one-hour brainwashing session, something is wrong with the company.
