Extremely Satisfied with the moving crew 8/17/2010

I was looking for a company for a local move of my one bedroom apartment. Several friends had referred me to NorthStar and when I called them for an estimate, they sent out a person the next day to do an inventory and give me an estimate. They said their quote would not exceed the estimate of 7.5 hours of work. I was told the men would arrive between 8-10am AND they showed up exactly at 8am. For the next 6 hours they worked non-stop (not even taking a bathroom break) and because they finished under the 7.5 hour estimate, the final price was several hundred dollars lower. Nothing was broken or damaged even though I had a lot of glass furniture and large paintings. I would gladly use them again. more

Moving from San Francisco to Los Angeles 8/5/2010

Northstar was great from start to finish. Everyone was professional and helpful. The movers showed up early and moved everything quickly. Every item of furniture was wrapped in padded blankets and plastic, totally protected. Fragile pieces such as a large mirror were put into a carton. All the items were listed and numbered on an inventory list which made it very easy to know where each item went when unloading. The movers arrived at our LA apartment on a hot afternoon. The foreman had a smile on his face and was so helpful figuring out out to get large pieces of furniture into a small bedroom...and he made it work. Best of all was the price. I was shocked how inexpensive the move was. I highly recommend them. more

5 Star Moving Day 7/26/2010

If you’re looking for the best, look no further, we found them! NorthStar Moving made our moving day so stress free and easy. We moved locally within Tarzana on July 4th, we were nervous because our date is like the busiest moving weekend of the summer. Although I am sure they were very busy that day, NorthStar made us feel like we were a priority. They were on time both at pickup and delivery. The movers worked hard the entire move, even though it was so hot! They were courteous, helpful, and very efficient. The office team that coordinated the move and called on to follow up before and after also made the entire moving process pleasant. The price is reasonable and worth it! I highly recommend them to everyone. \r more

Smoothest move ever! 6/11/2010

From start of inquiry to end of move - fast, clean, professional. NorthStar was the first of four companies I emailed requesting quotes to contact me - within 45 minutes of my request. I was quoted a not to exceed price the next morning by Barak - a fair price for four movers + a shuttle van for my steep driveway. Move leader Roberto and his team arrived early and went to work immediately - these guys knew what to do and did it. I felt the typical anxiety disappear instantly. They did not disappoint, moving me in half the quoted time - HALF THE TIME. Can't imagine that this is always the case, but I tipped large and waved goodbye. North Star Moving 4/17/2010

I just recently moved with NorthStar Moving and it was amazing!\r \r I have used NorthStar Moving two times in the past, and as a loyal client and big fan I knew that I could trust them with something as valuable as my family’s move. We recently had a baby, and with an expanding family, moving became both necessary and more challenging. However, from the first call to the last few boxes, their service was exceptional! The movers worked hard, the office team followed up throughout the move, we felt like the move was just as important to them as it was to us. We moved locally within the same neighborhood, but I don’t think I could have done it without NorthStar Moving. This was definitely the best moving experience ever! In these tough economic times you have to make sure you get value for what you are paying for, and I am happy to say that my move with NorthStar Moving is definitely worth it. Not only did they get the hard work taken care of, but they gave my family and me peace of mind, which in a move is priceless. Above and beyond 4/4/2010

I had a small move within the city, and after reading a lot of online reviews I chose Northstar. I'm very glad I did. Wendy was very helpful, professional, & answered all my questions. The 3 man crew turned up right on time & had my boxes & furniture, including a huge teak sideboard with glass doors, in the truck in under an hour & a half. My new place was less than 10 minutes away & they got straight to unpacking, just as efficient as earlier. However my huge sideboard would not fit up the elevator, the main stairs or the fire stairs to my 2nd floor apartment. I was devastated as it is my favorite piece of furniture. But after I saw how impossible this would be I suggested they take it back to my old apartment & I would just try to sell it or give it away. But those fantastic guys, Oscar, Elizeo & Angel, worked for another hour to get that huge sideboard over a 2nd floor balcony railing from the pool deck! I was sure it would end up in pieces on the pool deck but those guys went above & beyond what was expected & that sideboard is now in my living room. I was absolutely amazed! Also, everything else arrived in great shape, the cost was very reasonable & this crew were absolutely amazing. I would recommend Northstar to everyone. Greatest Ever 3/25/2010

After reading bunch of great reviews on Northstar Moving, I decided to hire them despite getting a few other recommendations for other moving companies from friends. It was one of those do I trust numerous reviews on Internet or go with single instances of good experiences by friends. I decided to trust the internet and went with Northstar and I don't have any regrets. Spoke with Wendy 5 days before the move and she quoted me an hourly rate based on how many guys she though I would need. She told me the guys would be at my apartment between 8am and 10am. 4 guys lead by Joel showed up at 8am on the dot the day of. Had my old apartment packed into the truck in 3 hours. It was amazing how quickly yet carefully they took all my staff away. And it only took them 1 hour to put all my staff in my new place. They performed well beyond my expectation. Five stars! Great Moving Company 3/21/2010

I just finished my second move with Northstar. The first was a move from Westlake Village to San Francisco 3 years ago. Nick and his crew were great on the pack and load. They went out of their way to really be careful not only with my furniture and belongings but also the house I was moving out of. They even figured out a way to move a refrigerator that wouldn't fit through the doorway. They were equally professional and careful on the unload in San Francisco. I didn't even think of calling another company on the move back down to Pasadena.\r \r By luck of the draw, Nick again was the crew boss on the unload here in Pasadena. Again, he and his crew were great - professional, careful with everything and fast. \r \r I like that when I called the office that I always got a live person who was usually able to help me on the spot or had someone call me back within minutes. Very responsive and I really do think they try to make the stressful moving process easier for the customer.\r \r Last but not least, the prices were very competitive and their services were well worth the cost. Best Movers Ever 3/20/2010

My room mate and I were moving from one apartment to two different locations. We identified who's boxes and furniture were who's with different colored artist's tape. (The tape used to mark the floor and stuff on TV sets) The guys were awesome, fast, professional and knew exactly what they were doing. You could tell they had this down to a science. Our kitchen was too small for the refrigerator to fit through the door and they had to lift it over the counters to get it out. That didn't even slow them down! It took about 30 seconds for the fridge to get out of our kitchen it was amazing. I have a huge 4 foot by 6 foot painting that arrived in perfect condition also! Nothing arrived at the wrong destination even though we were moving from one place to two separate places. They were very gentle with all the boxes going up and down stairs. Speaking of stairs, we had 3 flights up and 3 flights down on our move. That is a lot of stairs! These guys still just whipped through moving all our stuff and barely looked winded. Amazing. Damaged many items, dishonest 2/25/2010

We used NorthStar to move from CA to NC after seeing their A+ BBB rating. They damaged almost all our furniture and taped some of it together to try to hide it. The driver told us he was noting damage we noticed on the bill of lading and it turned out he hadn't. He tried to rush the whole process and get out of there ASAP. BE AWARE: DO NOT SIGN THE BILL OF LADING OR LET THE DRIVERS LEAVE UNTIL YOU HAVE EXAMINED EVERY ITEM THEY MOVED! If you don't note damage on the bill of lading both the movers and any insurance company you used will refuse to pay for it. (NorthStar recommended movnginsurance dot com, which we used and who were horrible and refused to pay for anything.) How is it possible to inspect everything when you have an entire houseful of stuff that you are moving and the driver is saying he has to leave because he has five other deliveries to make? That's not their problem. It's your problem if anything turns out to be damaged. These people are horrible and they cost us a fortune. Pros: Hit target arrival date Cons: Everything else more

Great Moving Company! 1/13/2010

Thanks to everyone who recommended NorthStar on this site, I picked them to help with my move yesterday. I've moved houses 3 times in the past 10 years and by far, NorthStar is THE BEST MOVING COMPANY I've ever dealt with! They are incredibly prompt, fast, courteous, neat, professional and CAREFUL. Everything you could ask from a moving company. The foreman they sent to my house is named ""Nick"" and he was amazing. They also sent 4 other guys and they finished everything so quickly (I moved into a 3,000 sf house and I have 3 kids!) that the price came in UNDER BUDGET! It's hard to find any company, let alone a moving company, that's this good and honest! Another word of advice ... DO NOT go with the cheapest company ... you will be sorry. They always tack on lots of fees to bring their price back up. NorthStar was very upfront about any additional charges (gas charge, etc.) so I knew exactly what I was paying ahead of time. Northstar Moving 10/15/2009

When my mother decided to move from Northern California to Southern California, I decided to use Northstar Movers. I had moved earlier from San Francisco and had great service from them. As with my previous move, Northstar sent a great team of workers. Jesus and his crew carefully wrapped my mothers furniture and possessions. When they arrived with her items, I was happy to see that Jesus and his crew were going to unload her things. It had just rained very hard and they took extra measures to insure that not only were her items moved in carefully but also that her floors were protected as they walked through her new home. Anyone who is looking for good people who care about your belongings should definitely consider Northstar Movers. My mother and I truly appreciate their extra efforts and professional know how! Easy, relaxing moving experience with this company. 10/7/2009

My husband and I recently moved from an apartment to a house. Over the time we had gradually moved lots of stuff over ourselves. Then we were looking at the rest of furniture and realized that we had to hire a moving company. After reading the good reviews on Citysearch, we called Northstar. The service people on the phone told us that since we didn't have lots of stuff, we can do it by hour and gave us a very good weekday hour rate for a three-man moving crew. We then booked a moving time and evaluation appointment with them. I got confirmation email on the same day. Then the evaluation guy showed up the next day. He looked around, made notes, and told us it won't be more than $500. I soon got another detailed email to confirm this evaluation. On the moving day, three guys came on time. They were very polite, quick, quiet, and totally gentle with our furniture. They were not taking their time because we were charged by hours. To my surprise, they finished everything in half of the time that we expected. We ended up paying only a bit more than $300. We paid in credit card and got clearly print-out official invoice and receipts from the guy. A couple of days after moving, I got a follow-up call from Northstar asking whether the guys were doing a good job, etc. I must say, the whole experience with this company is fantastic. Moving is such a stressful thing, but hiring Northstar made it basically painless for me this time. I'd highly recommend their service to anyone. more
