Most Relaxing Day Out 1/28/2009

I am a busy mom of 2 and I really look forward to my day at Nirvana Salon. The staff always make me feel welcome and relaxed...from the special hot tea to the aromatherapy scalp massage. Raymond cuts and styles my hair and always does an expert job. I get many compliments on my trendy hairstyle and color, and I like that it is easy to take care of at home--just dry and go! The prices are competitive and the products are great. The philosophy of the company--earth friendly and eco-conscience--is also a plus. Pros: Friendly Staff, Parking Close and Convenient, Skill of Hair Stylist. more

Very good stylist, ask for Shawna, she's the best 1/28/2009

My hair stylist, Shawna, is an artist when it comes to cutting hair. I don't always have time to dry and style my hair, and I am not good about coming in as often as I should. Some how, my hair looks good for months after Shawna's cuts. She is also a master of making my face look good with the right shape cut to frame it. (I think I look younger when I leave the salon.) The cut is on the expensive side, but I am willing to pay a little more for a consistently good cut. The only room for improvement: Aveda products have a lot of perfumy scents. When you end up with more than one product in your hair, the smell can be overwhelming, especially if you go for a night of rigorous dancing right after having your hair done! You know you're in NIRVANA when you come here!\r I live in Redwood City and make the trip to Nirvana because it's worth it! From the warm welcome, to the scalp massage to the artistry of Victoria...there's no other place I would rather go! I have been to hair salons before where I walk out and can't wait to go home and re-style my hair the way I want it. When I leave Nirvana, I can't wait to go out after to show off my cut and style! more

Amazing Staff and Salon! 1/28/2009

A wonderful salon tucked into downtown Los Gatos with great ambiance. The staff is always super friendly (not snobby like some places) and they do a wonderful job. I have really curly hair and Raymond works his MAGIC on it and it always looks fantastic. The best part is I can manage to do it myself (never as wonderful as Raymond of course, but that is because I am terrible at styling hair!) They have really unique spa treatments and you always get a complimentary aroma therapy with your hair wash! Truly a unique Green Salon that you should try. I get my hair done by Eileen - she is awesome - she will tell you HONESTLY if you don't need to do something such as a color quite yet just to save you some cash - she is really sweet and personable - as well as the rest of the staff as well - and does a great job - I got my hair colored about 2.5 months ago and it still looks great! Pros: Great color, lasts a long time, great staff, etc. more

You Owe it to Your Hair to Visit Nirvana 1/28/2009

I have been going to Nirvana for at least three years. They have the best aromatherapy selection, and even offer online booking now which is so convenient. My stylist's name is Raymond and he is amazing! I have long, thick, and frizzy hair that can be so difficult to manage. He has it looking fabulous everytime I walk out of his styling chair. I would never think of letting anyone else touch my hair! Pros: For a Los Gatos salon, Raymond's rates are very reasonable Cons: None that I can think of more

I've been searching for many years for a salon after my last hairstylist moved away. I read the reviews for Nirvana on Yelp and decided to try it out. I go to Christina and I love the color she came up with for my hair. I finally have the color I've been looking for. She asked lots of questions and gave her advice too and I loved what she did. Because i have wasted lot of money on Professional Salons, I havent been to any Professional Salons lately. Coz i know you wont get anything worth of the money you pay. So once i happen to see Nirvana's website online, and thought lets give it a try coz their prices are reasonable. I have got Botanical Strength Infusion treatment, and it is really amazing that it works so well. My hair started feeling so great, there is lot of change in texture. I can really feel the difference.\r I am sure no one regrets once they visit Nirvana. Friends give it a try. Coz you are worth it.. more

Come for the stylist; Stay for the relaxing scalp massage. 1/27/2009

Nirvana is always a great, relaxing, and friendly experience. The scalp massage is wonderful. The staff is wonderful and professional. I have been going there for several years now and it is always nice to see the staff over the years; younger staff works up the ranks. It is nice to have a place that keeps up to date on current styles as well as edgier ones.\r \r Laure' is the only one who can consistently cut my hair in the style I like but can also quickly assess whether a requested style will work with your current lifestyle and make changes accordingly. \r \r Booking can be difficult with some stylists but with the new online reservation system makes it easy. After going to the same hairdresser for over 9 years, I needed a change. My long, thick and layerd hair always felt heavy. Reading through the hairdresser bios on Nirvana's website, I chose Christine. I was impressed: Christine is sweet, attentive and detail-oriented; she knew exactly how to give my long layers lift and pizzazz. She takes her time to dry and meticulously style my hair-and I have A LOT of hair; I have never felt rushed through an appointment with her. I finally got the hair color I wanted!! 7/1/2008

I have been really confused with my hair for the past couple years so I was really nervous about coming into the salon for another change. Going to NIRVANA was the best decision I have made when it comes to my hair, I was greeted right away and offered something to drink (I got the iced tea which i recommend) My stylist Janis brought me over to her station and started to help me brain storm some ideas for what to do with my hair, she recommended doing something called a ""Combo Color"" which is a all over color and hilites, and I am soooooooooooooooooo happy with the outcome of of my hair, I have never felt 100% happy with my color, but Janis has really made me LOVE my hair. The bonus with my service was the hand massage and scalp massage! I will be visiting NIRVANA again very soon! Superb Haircut & Great Salon 6/20/2008

I was very impressed with the Nirvana Salon in Los Gatos. I selected senior stylist Kayla and won't be going back to the other stylist in Los Gatos who I have been going to for the last 8+ years. I was looking for a new style that would work well for my hair type and lifestyle (both a mom and a professional). Kayla did a fantanstic job describing the styling process so I could duplicate it at home and gently recommended Aveda products without being pushy. The salon was quite small but comfortable. I will be going back again and highly recommending both the salon and Kayla to my friends and family. Thank you for a great haircut! Amazing Experience!!!! 6/20/2008

I have been going to Nirvana for almost a year now. I must say, I cannot get enough. I have many years working in the salon industry and I even worked for Aveda for several years. I know the product and I know the philosophy. Many salons say they are Aveda but they don't do the Aveda services the way they are supposed to. Nirvana does! When you go expect a fully pampered experience. \r \r I would like to add that Raymond is beyond exceptional. I have very thick curly hair and he fully gets it. His scalp treatments are decadent. His cuts are creative and up to date. He always takes the extra time to make sure each hair is in perfectly in place. His color is the best I have ever had! His styling has always brought me a wealth of compliments. The icing on the cake though is that he has an amazing spirit and is so much fun to hang out with. If you can't get into him because I am hogging all of his appointments the whole staff is excellent as well. Doesn't do what they say 6/11/2008

I had a bad experience at this salon. I didn't get the service I requested and they charged me a lot more than I expected. The explanation as to why I was being charged extra for the service did not make sense. I will not go back to this salon. Off the cycle of normal hair salons! 5/20/2008

From the moment you walk in the door, you can see that this salon is different from others. In a small, intimate atmosphere, the owner and her staff beautify the denizens of Silicon Valley. After a long day at tthe office, the treatment and pampering which begins with a shampoo and scalp massage helps to work out the stress of the day. The wine and tea offered don't hurt either. With difficult hair such as mine, it has been difficult to find a stylist who is able to work with it as the owner, Laure', has done. I can't recommend enough Nirvana for taking care of your coiffure. Pros: Great haircut Cons: Laure gets booked up 6 months in advance more

DISAPOINTED 4/22/2008

The atmosphere is good HOWEVER they do not style when you just get color. They only style when you get a haircut. Come on! That is the most lamest thing. They way overcharge for a haricut so I go elsewhere for that. I walk out with wet/damp hair and can't even tell what the color looks like until later when my hair has dried all frizzy. They do charge extra if you want it styled. LAME! Just wanted to forwarn anyone that might be thinking of going there. Also, what are these messages and oils everyone is talking about?? Is that with a haircut only again?? With the price you pay, they should be styling everyone's hair. No one should walk out of a salon with a wet head. Come on! I go to Rage now. That is a great salon and my hair dresser takes her time making sure my hair is perfect. I mean it is like their art so you would think they would want advertise on their customers.
