Nothing fancy, just fun 12/9/2005

I'd been here on a few dates when I was single and now we take our kids. 2-for-1 coupons can be found in the BYU paper, the valpak mailer, and lots of other places. When games aren't 25 cents or even fifty cents, you can play a lot longer. We like being able to get tickets too so our kids can trade them for little prizes. This is also where I was able to perfect my Dance Dance Revolution skills! more

Fun and cheap way to relive the 80s 12/2/2005

The Nickelcade in Orem is a popular hangout for high schoolers and college students looking for a fun cheap time. You'll have to pay to get in, usually about $1.25, but after that, all of the games are nickel based. Now, some games do take 2 or three nickels but really, at 10 cents a game, can you complain? It is easy to go through a lot of nickels fast here but you wont find arcades any cheaper. On the down side, a lot of the games are dysfunctional and broken, but... you get what you pay for! more

Don't Waste Your Time Here! 9/8/2005

This ended up being a really disappointing date night for me and group of friends. Once we paid a nominal fee to get in and started walking around to see what games we could play for five cents we discovered a lot of the popular games we wanted to play we could not play. A ton of the games were either broken, out-of-service, etc. We were disappointed to keep trying games and the would end up not working – a lot of them didn’t even have signs indicating they needed repair. Take your family/dates somewhere else. more

Cheap Video Arcade 8/17/2005

The Nickelcade offers dozens of arcade games from the very old original Pac Man to the latest in racing and dancing games. Each game costs a few nickels and your good to go for the whole night. The most you need to spend is about five dollars for the whole night. Some of the games give you tickets like skee ball and you can exchange your tickets for prizes. Great for the whole family! They offer discounts for families. more

From pinball, skeeball, hoops, and airhockey, redeem your tickets for candy, trinkets and more! more

Cheap night out! 8/7/2005

This is a fun night out where you can reminisce about "the good old days." There are tons of video games from the 80s including Pac-man and Super Mario Brothers. Admission is about $2, but you can usually find a buy one get one free coupon either in the coupons that come in the mail, the calendars you get in August, or on the Starving Student Card. Each video game is only a nickel and a roll of nickels will last you and your date the entire night (depending on how good you are at the games, I guess!). It's not a super nice, super clean place and the games aren't always in the best of shape, but what do you expect for the price you're paying?? If you want to do something inexpensive, but different, this is a fun night out for a couple or even a group of friends. more
