Rude Man, Horrible Experience 2/17/2012

My experience was horrible. Not only did I have to wait for what seemed like forever, when he was able to get to me he was rude and judgemental all while insinuating I was imagining my problem. First and last visit, my dollars are better spent elsewhere. more

Dr. Neiman is a GREAT doctor. 9/13/2010

Dr. Neiman is a wonderful physician. He has been my doctor for 16 years. If you have a chronic inflammatory disease I advise you to see your doctor regularly and build a relationship with him. Dr. Neiman has seen me on good days and in flareups on the verge of tears. He is sympathic and kind in a low key manner. He is extremely knowledgeable. He cares about his patients. He also will tell you the truth. He returns my calls and was very supportive when I had a breast needle bioposy even though this was NOT his speciality or responsibility. You are fortunate if Dr. Neiman is your Rheumatologist. more

Very Thorough 6/18/2010

Dr. Neiman is one of the most thorough and knowledgable rheumatologists I have ever been to, and I have been to many over the past 40 years. I also work in the medical field and know of many other doctors who refer their patients to Dr. Neiman for care. I am retiring soon to another state and will be lost without him. I plan on returning to see him at least twice a year. more

Best Doctor!!! 1/26/2010

I have been going to see Dr. Neiman for about 15 years. He has always been kind and has always taken the time to find out what my current condition is. I have RA and if it hadn't been for him fighting the insurance company to get me on Enbrel when it was in an experimental stage I would have been disabled. more

#1 in my book 12/23/2009

I first met Dr. Neiman in October 2003 when my then 16 year old son became seriously ill. Referred by our PCP, Dr. Neiman saw him at 7:30am the next day, getting him in as there were not any new patient appointments available for over a month. My son was diagnosed with SLE & Lupus Nephritis and Dr. Neiman has managed his care through numerous rounds of Chemo, and now that he is in remission he is monitored on a regular basis. Last year I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, becoming Dr. Neiman's patient myself. Dr. Neiman is the most caring, thoughtful and thorough physician ever. My son and I are very happy with Dr. Neiman and highly recommends him. His staff should be mentioned as well as they are all wonderful and caring. Go team Neiman! more

One of the top Rheumy doctors out there 7/20/2009

Things like waiting to get in to see the doctor (what doctor doesn't have this?) or dealing with often moody office staff/assistants (they can be very up and down here) don't make or break a doctor for me. I've spent 18 years going back and forth between specialists, even with a diagnosis there are often times symptoms that don't fit in with the dx. Dr. Neiman is one of the few that "gets it", especially regarding pain, whether it be Fibro or RA or nerve pain. If you need something, and you're willing to be patient and firm about getting the help, Dr. Neiman will be there. He can come across as extremely ... scattered, but after 6 years of going to see Dr. Neiman it's more than obvious it has more to do with how much he has on his plate and the intelligence that so many doctors subvert. Dr. Neiman will help you find whatever support you need, whatever doctors or tests you could possibly want/need, you just have to be patient during your visits. Be ready to sit and wait, in the waiting area or in the room. If it's painful to do that, speak up. Intelligent & Intellectual doesn't = cold or uncaring. Impatient or Rushed doesn't = incompetent. As with any doctor, be prepared to be your own best advocate. more

Knowledgeable - but not a good experience 3/24/2009

I went to Dr. Neiman on the recommendation of my primary care doc. Dr. Neiman was okay, but he did seem distracted (even leaving the room in the middle of our conversation to take a call without explanation or apology)and he didn't bother to connect with me. He seemed very knowledgeable but failed to explain to me what he was going to test for and what his theory or conclusions were. I had to ask and guess a lot. His staff is brusque to the point of almost being rude - not friendly or even courteous. I will have them send my charts back to my primary care doc, and if I need a rheumotologist, I will consult a different one. more

Rhuematology God is better than your God 1/12/2009

I will preface this by saying that I only saw Dr. Neiman a few times. But that is mainly because I was really offended by him. The first time we met he asked me my religion! He told me his as well. I would have been fine with that but he proceeded to degrade me and make fun of me for my beliefs. He pretty much told me at our first meeting that he didn't think there was a thing wrong with me. After blood results came back he had to eat his words. I was impressed he was willing to do that but I was offended enough by our first meeting that I never saw him again. more

bad experience 12/17/2008

I waited for nearly 45 minutes before I could meet with Dr. Neiman. Although it didn't matter - once I did meet with him he wasn't really there. My needs were not addressed. I waited nearly two weeks for blood test results. Once I received the results I learn I was tested for something completely unrelated to anything pertaining to my health issues. What a waste of time and money. more

Very Good Doctor (can't say the same about the staff). 6/8/2008

Dr. Neiman is a doctor I would definitely recommend - I found him to be a sincere listener (rare these days); open to use of complementary/alternative medicine; plus he told me about some possible side effects of a medication I'd been prescribed by two other previous doctors, which side effects those doctors had never bothered to mention to me. He has also taken the time to personally call me back on a couple occasions over the past few years when I've had acute/unusual symptoms. The drawback, unfortunately, is his staff, who have ranged from cold to downright unkind - I've never been treated this way at any other doctor's office before. Don't count on getting a call back, even if they say they will, and also, be cautious about having the staff draw your blood - I've walked away with signifcant bruising. After 20+ years of having blood drawn, I'm well aware that it isn't necessary to walk away with bruises like that. I've gone to local blood draw labs, many, many times, and not once have I walked away bruised. more

okay, but not that great 9/30/2007

I have been to see Dr. Neiman 4 times. Every single time I have had to wait a minimum of 20 minutes and one time I waited 40 minutes before I saw him. Maybe he is too good a listener and not so respectful of patient's time. I got immediate help with a drug he prescribed, but he didn't listen when I asked for a specific lab test and instead saddled me with a large lab bill of unnecessary tests that had just been performed 4 months ago. Overall, I must say that the service I received was mediocre at best. more

Great Rheumatologist, friendly doctor 3/1/2006

I first went to see Dr. Neiman AFTER having gotten knee surgery that ended up being not all together necessary. Had an earlier rheumatologist actually diagnosed me properly, that might not have happened. However, Dr. Neiman, after getting the results of my first blood test, correctly identified what was causing all my joint problems, started a treatment regimen within a few weeks, and now, two years later, I have pretty much full mobility, and only rare occasional twinges from my joint problems. FAR better than I ever expected to feel again. I'd recommend him highly to anyone in seriously need of help with joint or muscular pain. more
