How a boardwalkd should be 11/30/2005

Out-of-towners and locals alike should visit Navy Pier if they haven't yet! There is so much to do, you can't experience it all in 2 or even 3 visits. In warmer weather, there is a lot of free entertainment. Jugglers, magicians, musicians, children's theater and more. The children's museum is a great place for kids from toddler to grade school, and there are biker rentals, boat tours, a fun house, IMAX theatre, great restaurants, a food court, gift shops, a bookstore...No one will walk away bored. It can get pricey.. There are also some rides, including the magnificent ferris wheel that overlooks the lake and can be seen lit up from Lake Shore Drive year-round. more

Fun! 11/10/2005

If you are coming to Chicago you HAVE to make a stop at the Navy Pier! It is fun for the whole family! You can take a boat tour, visit the Children's Museum or ride the giant ferris wheel! You can take a cruise on one of the yachts, visit the Shakepeare theater or take the kids to Build-A-Bear. If you get hungry there is plenty to eat at the Bubba Gump Shrimp company, Mcdonalds & more. We even saw Forrest Gump there and got a great picture with the kids. We had a great time at the Navy Pier and can't wait to go back! more

Great place to visit 11/10/2005

The Navy Pier is a great place to visit in Chicago. There is tons of stuff for the whole family to do including IMAX and shops and restaurants. Also, be sure to check out the Ferris Wheel, which provides a great view of all of Chicago. Also, every year the Taste of Chicago Festival is held at Navy Pier which hosts a variety of restaurants and live performances by musicians. more

Good times 11/8/2005

Navy Pier is a great destination for a host of different activities. Check out the IMAX theater, or head on out on a cruise on Lake Michigan. Bring your children to the The Children's Museum or have them ride the merry-go-round or the huge ferris wheel. Lots of restaurants and shops. It's a great destination to spend the day. more

Very Relaxing 11/7/2005

I head over to navy pier a couple of time each summer with my boyfriend. Whether its the ferris wheel, boat tour, or just a nice stroll on the pier, this place is beautiful especially at night. We also go during the 4th of July to watch the fireworks. Parking might be hard to find but you can always take a cab. They also have a mini theatre for plays and plenty of food. There is also have several places for kids to have fun. more

Tourist Trap 11/6/2005

Navy pier is the ultimate tourist trap. Somehow, it has become a must-see for all tourists, while there really isn't anything interesting there. The only thing worth visiting for is the view of the city. The rest is made up of small stores, fast food and a couple of bad amusement rides. If you plan on going, don't plan on staying long because there are much more interesting, historical, or fun things to do in Chicago. more

Something for everyone 10/26/2005

In the summer, walking to the end of the pier and just looking out at the lake and the Chicago skyline is one of my favorite things to do. Sure, the whole scene can be a little touristy, but it's still fun. Take a cheap boat ride out on the lake or get great views from the ferris wheel. There are tons of cute shops inside. The Crystal Gardens are cool (and free) and the Shakespeare Theatre is amazing. Even in the winter, Navy Pier has a lot going on, like ice skating and the Winter Fest. Navy Pier is easy to walk to from most of downtown. more

Have Some Fun! 10/16/2005

Navy Pier is an excellent place to visit in the summer. They have a ferris wheel, miniture golf, all types of boat tours, IMax Theater, and several other exhibits and shops. You can also just walk by the pier that looks over miles and miles of Lake Michigan. They also have different events throughout the year from fireworks night to several expo and boat exhibit. It is also very children friendly as they have a swing ride to childrens museum to build your own teddy bear workshop. A must see if you are visiting Chicago although Parking maybe more difficult to find. more

Great for the Young and the Young at Heart 10/12/2005

This is a great place for a family with children to spend a day together and a definite must see for tourists. Ive been several times with different groups of people and it seems like those who have the most fun are the under 40 crowd. There is a Ferris Wheel, Carousel, a maze, a theater, a museum billions of shops and a great variety of food places. They also have special holiday themed attractions, theres a fear fest during Halloween and the most extraordinary Winter Wonderfest during the Christmas holidays. more

Fun place to visit once or twice 10/5/2005

Beautiful views, great walk around the pier. Amusement park rides. Fun fireworks displays. Shops and stuff...thats all great. Maybe once or twice, then it all feels old. If it is your first time in Chicago, go for it, you'll love it. Chicagoland natives don't have too many good reasons to go there again and again. Be careful of the overpriced shirts and stuff, unless you REALLY had a great time. more

Enjoyment for Everyone 8/10/2005

This is the place to go with a group - Your bound to find something that will please everyone. From the Ferris Wheel to the mini golf - there's loads to do here. You can shop, eat, or play for hours and then end your day with fireworks (most Wed. and Sat). What can be better than that? more

Good Tourist place 7/31/2005

Expensive restaurants and nick nack shops are the staple of any tourist attraction. This is no different. However, once you swallow that pill, you are left with some graet views of the lake and the city amidst some decent dining options. Check it out during the holidays and on fireworks nights. Its lots of fun. more

Navy Pier 7/26/2005

We have been here several times and are never disappointed. One of our favorite things is the boat ride out on Lake Michigan. Gives you a wonderful view of the skyline of downtown Chicago. Lots of things to do here with beautiful fountains, stores, restaurants, ferris wheel rides, boat rides, museum, etc. more

A very special place to go 7/25/2005

Yes, it is filled with more tourists than you would ever want to see in your life! (At least for me). But I LOVE Navy Pier. This is one place you have to see. But if you're like me and hate crowds, do not go in the summertime except on a week day or late night. I love the carousel, garden, boat rides and the beautiful ballroom and Imax Theater. If you're smart, you can have a great day and still keep the price down. There is so much to do here, but go at an off time, bring your own goodies, buy a pop or snack, and stoll for hours, taking in the gorgeous surroundings. more

Entertainment in the city 7/11/2005

I personally don't go to Navy Pier but if you have friends visiting out of town it could be a fun place to go to. If they have kids, there is also a children's musem area. It gets a bit expensive consdidering you have to pay for parking as well. They do have great live music playing mostly during the summer. Winters are fun because they set up an ice-skating rink as well. more

Okay for Tourists 6/24/2005

I visit Navy Pier once a year, usually for an event. They do host great events there since there is a large meeting space and it has great views of the city. Otherwise, this place is mostly for tourists and children. There are lots of activities for kids - ferris wheel, carousel, children's theatre. Parking is limited and expensive, so the best option of getting there is public transportation. Too many cheesy souvenir shops too. PROS: View of Chicago, Lakefront walk CONS: Too crowded, Hard to Park more

Spend a fun filled day here 6/20/2005

This a place where you can spend an entire day since there are number of things to do and see. Take the cruise in the boat... which gives you a beautiful view of the magnificent Chicago skyline. There is even a stained glass museum for the art lovers. There are rides and eating places.... or you cab just relax by walking near the lake. more

Great Fireworks in the Summer! 6/6/2005

My family & I LOVE fireworks! We have been very happy with the quality of the fireworks each summer at Navy Pier and generally are down there several times during the summer specifically for the fireworks. In a normal summer week, fireworks are Wednesday at 9:30 p.m and Saturday at 10:15 p.m. Holiday schedules may vary. more

Beautiful Views! 5/25/2005

Navy Pier is a must to visit if you are in Chicago. It is beautiful especially at night. It has tons of restraunts inside of it and there's also a really great IMAX theater. It is always lively and tons of fun. They also have a nice banquet hall on the premises which overlooks Lake Michigan. more
