The good....my daughter learned something about dance. \r \r The bad .... my daughter learned a lot about "it's who you know" in order to be given a fair chance, and once you've shown some individualism (vs. "Nancyism") you will be forever ignored, and as some in the past were, exiled from the studio. Some were discharged with letters and no explainations, no personal words to girls who'd danced over ten years. Way to influence young ladies... when they were never the problem. \r \r The good... there are other dance schools in town. The more schools you try/experience, the more you learn how much Nancy's was lacking in basic ballet technique, an area they "excel" in - whatever. more

A little girl turned into a grown ballerina 4/12/2011

This dance studio has a "homey" feel to it. You learn there, you grow up there, and you have family there. Speaking as a dancer who grew up in this studio if it weren't for Nancy and this dance studio I wouldn't be who I am today. Not only has Nancy taught me the joy and art of dancing but she also taught me how to be a lady, how to be considerate and mannered in competitions and in life. The way dance is taught and danced wont be there same anywhere else because no other studio treats each and every member like they are family the way Nancy and her staff do. Nancy encourages everyone to try their best and reach for the stars and thats what I love about this studio. If you are looking for a place where your child can grow in more ways than one then this is the studio for you. Thanks for all you do Nancy! <3 more

Okay if your dancer is young...but... 11/27/2010

Nancy is a good teacher to younger dancers..but has trouble once the girls become teenagers.... As a younger dancer I learnat lot and felt she really cared for me. But once the dnacers get older, she takes our normal developmental stages personally and "black lists" anyone she thinks doesn't think her way. She says she teaches sportsmanship, and good role models, but really doesn't act this way towards the dancers as they get older. She's even gossiped to me about my mom about other dancers. more

I am a current dancer walking into my senior year at Nancy Doize's School of Dance. I have been apart of the studio for about 11 years now, and have never thought about changing studios. Nancy is one of the most respectable people that i've ever met. She really pushes and encourages all of her students to grow each and every year. I am apart of the competition team and I am so blessed to have such amazing team members. I know that I will miss the team after I graduate, but I know that there will always be a place for me. Nancy is amazing at being friendly to all the family members as well as the dancers. There is not a better place than the Nancy Doize School of Dance! more

Best Ever 8/17/2010

Best experience for all children interested in dancing. I have to say that even though we have only had four years of dancing at Nancy's studio, these were the best experiences in my child's life outside of school/home. Nancy teaches always with a smile, and twinkle in her eyes grace, tenacity, team work, empathy, being supportive, caring, hard work, high standards, accountability, professionalism, making and reaching your goals. And with all that, they all have fun, and she really emphasizes enjoying what you do and having fun but being able to achieve all the above. What more can you ask for in a mentor. It is success plan for life. She is very caring and always there for you. She always makes time for you and your child; makes you feel that you are most important. I can think of no better place for my child to grow, dream, be supported in her efforts always with that smile and twinke in her eyes. Thank you, Nancy. more

A Dance Studio to Remember 8/17/2010

Nancy Doize and her School of Dance was a blessing for my daughter. She was 3 years old when she started dancing with Nancy's studio. She is now 15. Nancy has played a huge part in helping to teaching my daughter life lessons as she & the other teachers taught and encouraged her to dance her heart out. Nancy has had many teenage heart-to-hearts with my daughter where she helped to teach her about teamwork, responsibility and dedication. Nancy not only teaches dance, but she gets to know all her dancers and parents personally. She has one of the biggest giving hearts I have ever encountered. During competitions, Nancy's studio almost always walks away with top awards for Best Spirit and Best Sportsmanship. That's because they believe in their dancers and foster that as they teach their many ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, zumba & pilates classes. Best Studio Ever! 8/17/2010

The Nancy Doize School of Dance is the most welcoming, positive,and fun studio to dance at! I have danced there for four years and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The girls and the staff are great and are like family. They are always there to help you improve in any way you need to. Miss Nancy is one of the best people I know and consider her family. She takes such good care of the her girls and the studio to make sure everyone is happy and having a good time.The staff is so talented at what they do, so professional , and is truly an honor to work with. The Nancy Doize School of Dance has been such a big part of my life and have loved every moment being there. My daughter has danced at the Nancy Doize School of Dance for 11 years. She loves the classes, the teachers and the other girls. It is her second home! The school offers a wide variety of dance for children up through adults so she will be there for years to come. I have told many people about this school. more

My two daughters have been dancing at the Nancy Doize School of dance for over 15 years. This is a well established, respected, and family-oriented studio where students can learn the art of dance and in a caring and structured environment. They offer a variety of dance classes and also have a cometition team. Nancy and her staff not only teach the art of dance but nurture and mentor our children into becoming nice young adults. They also develop long term friendships along the way. Nancy and her staff truly care about each and every one of their students. You get the best of everything under one roof! They have certainly exceeded all of our expectations over the past 15 years. You can't go wrong with 30 years of excellence!! more

More Than Just Dance 8/16/2010

I have two daughters who grew up dancing at Nancy?s studio. We are currently at thirteen years and counting. Although they have now both graduated, they still take occasional classes at the studio when their college schedule allows. This is true of many of the families we know from the studio. The retention rate of Nancy?s students speaks to the admiration we have for her, and to the family atmosphere that she creates there. My girls learned so much; not only about dance but about getting along with others, teamwork, responsibility, work ethic, and friendship. They have nothing but fond memories, and a foundation that they will take with them throughout life. All of which are equally important to me as the ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary dance that they learned. more

Sharing her love of Dance 8/16/2010

My daughter danced at the Doize School of Dance for many years and she as well as our family loved every minute of it. Besides being an excellent school in dance training it is more importantly an excellent place for young woman (and men) to learn to be good, loving and well rounded citizens. Nancy and her staff always treat everyone with respect and love and by their example her students learn those qualities as well. Over the years I have recommend Nancy to many parents who are looking for a positive fun place for all children to attend and learn. My daughter graduated and left three years ago and we will continue to support Nancy and her students always. My daughter started dancing with Nancy since she was 5 years old. She is 16 years old now and I am so grateful to Nancy and her teachers. Nancy is a person of great integrity. She is caring, loving, generous, and most of all she looks out for the girl's best interest at heart. \r \r My daughter has over the years not just learned how to dance, but she also learned about committment, hard work, accountability, caring for each other, team work, honor, grace, and ability to get along with others. Nancy teachs them all that. \r \r My daughter turned out to be a beautiful young lady with great passion for dance and for life. I am truly dismayed by this persons negative comments! My daughters had danced with Nancy Doize for over 12 years and my daughter never once complained that Nancy was mean to her. I would also sit in and watch, Nancy has always been a patient teacher even when some of the girls were not on their best behavior. I did then and still now would highly recommend The Nancy Doize School of Dance! more

Peace Of Mind for the Parents 2/22/2010

I have two daughters that have been at the Nancy Doize School Of Dance for many years and will continue to be there for many more. As a father I appreciate the level of standards that are kept by Nancy and her staff for age appropriate costumes and dance choreography as well as the attitudes and behavior of the dancers. I have seen in my daughters a continual growth and love for dance and for the people that mentor them, and I know that this will be a part of who they are for the rest of their lives. I have watched some of the older students mature into leaders and wonderful teachers, not to mention extraordinary dancers, and that tells me what I can expect in the future as my children get older. If you want a place where your children can grow to their potential in dance and as a person, then Nancy Doize School Of Dance is a great place for them to be. more

A Neighborhood Studio with Flair 2/2/2010

The Nancy Doize School of Dance is a gem of a school in San Jose. About 15 years ago, this school was recommended to us from a director of a major state dance competition as a school that teaches young dancers in a fun, enjoyable atmosphere while fostering an appreciation for dance if they so choose so. It also allowed those who wanted to progress to do so at multiple levels. Luckily for my daughter, it was exactly as billed. She truly had fun dancing and developed an appreciation for dance as an art and sport on her own. In addition, the friendliness and family-like atmosphere of the studio makes everyone of all abilities and ages welcome. The school has excellent teachers in jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical and contemporary. They also have a competition team that builds character, teamwork and good sportsmanship in a competitive environment. Best learning experience for anyone. 1/31/2010

I have personally danced at Nancy's school from when I was 2 1/2 until I was eighteen. I moved to Long Beach for college, but still tried to ake it out to perform at the yearly recitals or teach classes during the summer. Being apart of the competititon team and performing for Nancy Doize School of Dance was an experience that shaped my life. Without the discipline and dance family in my life I would not be where I am at now. I have made it far in very tough competitions and auditions. I currently have been selected for a lead role out here at LBCC, with there accrediated dance program. Without the past technique that was taught to me throughout my life at Nancy'sI would not have made it as a lead. If you do not make the competition team, it is just meant to make you push harder for your goals. Highly recommended 1/30/2010

Both my girls took dance with Nancy they started when they were 2 1/2 and 3 1 /2 they danced for Nancy for 15 years. My Youngest still dances today thanks to Nancy. She just got Dance parts at a school in LA. I would highly recommend Nancy Doize School of Dance for any child boy or girl looking for good dance lessons for all types of dance. more

Good if you want your child to compete in dance 9/27/2009

The program at Nancy Doize is good. Their competition team does well, but any dancer over the age of ten that is not on the team is not held to the same standards, and aren't aloud to be in some of the high level classes. The ballet program is not that great, but all classes are taught with competence. more

After 35 years, we have moved to 2982 Union Avenue in San Jose, CA, The new dance school is a short one mile from the previous location at the corner of Foxworthy and Union Avenue. We invite you to come tour the new location and try a dance class! The Nancy Doiz?? School of Dance has been serving the community with a first rate dance program for over 35 years. We offer dance classes in ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, tap and modern, as well as fitness classes in pilates and Zumba. The studio has three separate classrooms, and teachers who are passionate about all disciplines of dance. We offer an amazing recreational dance program for ages three to adult, as well as a cutting edge performance and competitive dance program for the dancer ready to take it to the next level.
