Best

The food here is insanely tasty each and every time...I've gotten the seafood platter a couple times this month and each time it is to die for...The fish is always fresh and cooke...

Worst

We found the food to be average at best. The price of the meals was reasonable, but certainly not worth what we received. The pork was dry and tasteless, side veggies were soggy a...

A Delight 7/26/2005

Excellent restaurant for a special occasion. Gourmet delight. Every course of the meal was superb. I look forward to going back. Pros: Gourmet Food, Decent Service, Decent Atmosphere Cons: A little Pricey, Reservations Needed more

A disappointing experience 7/24/2005

After hearing all of the praise for this restaurant my wife and I found the experience to be very underwhelming. The service was good; however little else lived up to the praise this place has received. The entrees were average at best with small portions especially given the high prices for each. Deserts were nothing special. Ambience and setting were ok, but we were seated in a corner no farther than 3 feet away from a four-person party whose loud conversation made it very hard for us to carry on our own. Overall disappointing and not worth the high prices. Pros: good service Cons: expensive, mediocre food, poor seating more

don't worry, it's not like your Nana! 2/6/2005

It's tough to find anything negative to say about Nana's. You wouldn't know it from the outside, but it's quite the classy, trendy place! I particularly like the diverse selection of real artwork displayed throughout the restaurant. The bar area is also quite nice and trendy. I've only been to Nana's once, but I'm looking forward to returning. The service was absolutely superb and the food was top-notch. I loved the salmon! I haven't been back only because I wanted to try some of the other fine dining establishments in the Triangle area...from what I've seen so far, Nana's ranks among the best! Pros: the food!, atmosphere/decor, service Cons: parking, location more

Great Food. 10/31/2004

I took my husband there for his birthday. We ordered this sample menu, which comes in 5 different courses and the dessert. Although they are very different, all of them are very tasty. We are very pleased. Pros: Great food more

Delicious and Diverse 10/31/2004

This restaurant is greatly improved, compared to my last visit there. The chef offers a wide array of creative cuisine. Unsual flavors come together very well. The ""sampler"" is strongly recommended, to experience a wide array of treats. A small downside is that some dishes were a little salty for my tastes. Pros: Delicious, Creative, Diverse more

Fabulous Food 10/21/2004

Wow, this place surprised us. Its location, in a tiny shopping strip on University Boulevard, does not convey the dining experience. Great ambiance, fabulous food, delectable dessert and great, personal service. It's a bit pricey, so we can't go too often, but for that special occasion or to take your visiting in-laws, this is the place. Great artwork on display is for sale, too! Pros: Food, Ambience, Service Cons: , not for kids more

Pretty Good 9/1/2004

Nice decor, average ""upscale"" environment. Food was definitely creatively unique, although the lamb was a little bland. The desserts were fabulous though, and the service was excellent in the restaurant (the bartenders seemed a little lackadaisical). Great wine list, but tight on convenient parking. I would encourage reservations. Pros: Good food, Inspiring decor, excellent svc Cons: , very busy more

Best Meal in Triangle 7/11/2004

This was the best meal we have had in the area in a number of years. We ate at Nana's for our aniversary and the service was excellent. Food was outstanding. I had duck, my wife had venison. I travel a lot, and it's nice to know that one of the best restaurants on the east coast is so close to home. Without question this is our favorite place in the area. Pros: Service, Food, Art more

Deserving of High Praise 9/11/2002

Nana's is definitely one of the top 5 restaurants in the Triangle. With its corner lot location on University Dr. and 15/501 it serves as the true intermediary between downtown Durham professionalism and neighborhood chic. Academics, professionals, and culinarians alike can enjoy excellent offerings at each stage of a full course meal-- starters to desserts... nothing misses a beat. Chef Scott Howell keeps a keen eye on all stages of preparation and balances a menu with traditional Nana's favorites with newer creations. The only complaint I've heard in the past has been in regard to seating being too cramped... with not enough space being left between tables. Despite this shortcoming, the ambiance is tasteful and calming. Don't have a reservation? Try the bar seating, but get there early.... Pros: Food quality, Ambiance, Bar Cons: Tables too close more

My wife and I love to visit with the folks at Nana's. The food is superb, the wine list excellent, along with the service. We enjoy each visit and look forward to our next. Don't miss this experience. Pros: Food, Service, Dessert Cons: Noise more
