I was looking at preschools for my son & called to make an appointment to visit. When I arrived, I was told that the director was teaching class, and they didn't want to tell me not to come b/c they had an "open door policy", but that I couldn't really have a tour or more than a 10-minute conversation with anyone! I was handed some information sheets and told to come back at a later time if I was interested. Needless to say, after this welcome, I was no longer interested. Let me repeat - I had called to make an appointment! An appointment assumes that the time is good for both parties!!! Also, the information sheets were mostly rules and regulations, including laundry lists of how parents and children should/should not behave and why a child would be expelled from the school. I did not find this to be very positive or nurturing at all, so that was strike 3. What was strike 2? The place itself smelled like a moldy basement.
