Designer Haven & Horrible Sales Girls 8/3/2009

Good: I loved how you can get a pair of Ed Hardy or True Religion jeans for about $20. There are plenty of vintage things there if that's your niche. I personally love Seven jeans and they had an enormous amount to browse through. I saw a large cute teal handbag for only $12 and a pair of Ed Hardy jeans for $20.. Bad: The sales girls were extremely snooty and stuck up. I brought in 25 items to sell to them. My items included: about 15 pairs of Hollister jeans (all washed and previously only worn only once), Victoria Secret sweat pants and matching jackets, Bebe track pants, Abercrombie and Fitch jeans, and a few other things. They only took one of the sweat shirts (from American Eagle) and one pair of Hollister jeans (out of 15 other pairs I brought) AND I only got $9.50 for both things!. Improvements: They need to be less of stuck up snobs; come on now, you first of all work as a sales clerk (no offense to any sales women out there), but nevertheless, they were so rude! Be more friendly and take more items from sellers.. more

unpleasant male "Clothing Examiner" 5/27/2009

Good: That they buy clothes outright. Immediate cash! And I have found some decent el cheapo tanks for the gym.. Bad: Did not care for their unnecessary additional comments on my item. He told me: "outdated"(I bought it last summer), "faded" and even "I don't like it".. Improvements: Change their snooty rude attitude. All that is required when rejecting an item is, "We can't use this but thank you for bringing it to us. A bit more professional---- and I might have left not feeling insulted... Other: I wouldn't shop or sell to them again after Counter Man's general unpleasantness.. more

Don't trust them 10/23/2008

Don't consign here. They lie about how much they pay, and they are rude, insulting, sneaky, and disorganized. It was a total scam. more

I liked it up until I got accused for stealing a stankin ass tank top 3/14/2008

Ok, who steals second hand shit. I went to the Mustard Seed today like I Always do every Friday, and I tried on 3 items. I went to the dressing room to try them on, and there were 2 other people in the area, including a set of high school bitches. The high school chicks made a bee-line to the exit, then I exited the dressing room with my 3 items, I left one article of clothing with the bitch who checked my stuff before I even tried it on...okay. While I am standing at the register, the whole staff swarms towards my black ass asking me if I have a "Blue Floral Tank" No I don't, then another bitch came to me and asked me again, without interrogating anyone else in that little ass store. What I wanna know is why do you have the bitch standing in the back if she's not gonna monitor what the hell is going on, or does she only monitor black people who look like they may have an interest in blue floral tanks. It was the high school white kids that did it. Thievery has no age limit or color. I spend and have spent alot of my money in that funky ass store, and I am so offended by the way those whores ran up on me over a tank top, I wanna take a shit on the floor if I ever come in there again. I have referred many but I have also heard of other racist stories about the "Seed" You might as well bring the "whites only" sign back. then see if you still keep your merchandise. The Mustard Seed can suck my dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

I looooove mustardseed! 11/23/2006

Ive been shopping at mustardseed since i was in 4th grade. I am now a junior in college. Basically half of my wardrobe is from this wonderful thrift store. It used to be in a different location just down the street and only had used clothing, but now they sell new and used clothing. I just love it. not only can you buy, but whatever you are sick of from your own closet, you can bring to them and they will buy it from you 1/2 of what they sell it for. so I love mustardseed! more

Look on the top shelves at Mustard Seed... 10/23/2006

Because the owners of this upscale, hip consignment hop in Bethesda are so picky, you will always find a great steal of a deal on a wonderful name brand and trendy purse. I have purchased a Coach purse here for around $20 and it was in excellent shape. Don’t forget to look on the higher up displays. Many purses are up there and great deals are to be found! more

ok to consign, some good finds 7/12/2006

This is a pretty good used clothing store if you are in your teens or twenties. You also have to be a size 0 to 12 because they don't offer anything bigger. It is fun to consign here because you get money right back. They are extremely picky about what they take and base it on trends more than anything. You may bring in three bags and they will take 3 items. It depends on the day also. I have found a black Coach purse here for $20, a white vintage shawl and a workout top. Things aren't dirt cheap but pretty reasonable. more

General consignment store 12/28/2005

A good general second hand store for all sorts of random clothing. They have your typical items, jackets, jeans, etc. from trendy modern designers like banana republic, Benetton, BCBG etc. Once in a while you will find some really interesting and unusual items, but much of it is pretty standard fare. Not one of my favored consignment stores. more

High fashion at low thrift store prices 12/14/2005

Mustard Seed is the sort of place you maybe don't realize exists, because it is too good to be true. Designer second hand, for next to nothing? They generally, on a good day (which is mid-week, mid-day if you are over a size three, or size 6 shoes) have designers ranging from J.Crew, Calvin Klein, BSBG, you name it--for under twenty dollars. Often a sweater is ten dollars or less. Avoid the clothes in the front, they are brand new retail priced, and go straight to the middle where all the good second hand designer finds are. Also to avoid: they now have a "vintage" section, which while some of the clothes are lovely, is just a way of bilking the public out of money by jacking up the price and claiming its from the 70s, etc. Its not worth the added price. But otherwise, Mustard Seed is a dream. Low prices, good finds. Highly recommended. They also will buy your clothes if they feel they are "in" at the moment (and weather appropriate). You won't get much but it is a good way to clean out the closets. more

Thrift shop for the Trend-setting 11/8/2005

Mustard Seed is a fabulous place to stop by and stop by often if you are intent on finding clothes that no one else will be able to find in the local mall. They have a good assortment of used and new clothing that manages, unlike some other thrift store, to keep up with the changing styles. They sell men and women's clothing as well as shoes and accessories like jewelery and bags. They also buy your clothes, which is good for someone looking to clean out her closet and make a little something in the process. But they don't buy just anything; you can bring in a huge bag worth of stuff and they might only take a few choice pieces. It is easy to get to if you take the metro, but parking is a little more tricky if you drive, seeing how the store is right on Wisconsin. There is a public lot around the corner, though. more

Cute Shop 10/26/2005

Mustard Seed is a cute shop, but honestly I never seem to find anything appropriate for me to buy. The windows are always adorned with trendy outfits, but I have a hard time finding things I would actually wear. The small boutique shop is definitely worth a visit though and is right off of the Bethesda metro. Staff is friendly and helpful. more

Great Used Clothes 9/23/2005

Mustard Seed is a trendy little store that sells both new and gently used clothes. Most of their inventory is clearly designed for the very young (lots of halter tops and short skirts) but there are lots of great finds for a slightly older (mid-twenties) gal like myself. They sell both men's and women's clothing, shoes and accessories, with a focus on vintage duds. The prices are slightly higher than at a typical thrift store but the merchandise quality is so much higher (they are very picky) that it is well worth it. I have found lots of bargains here. more

mustard seed for used clothes 8/23/2005

I love the Mustard Seed Shop for buying trendy used clothes, they are picky about what they buy from you if you want to sell, but they give you 50% if you do sell. I highly recommend checking often to find good clothes that ppl bring in. they take mostly clothes that have to be in style, and although it helps if its brand name, just becuase its brand name doesnt mean they will buy it Rachel more
