Tons of beers 2/13/2003

If British pubs are your thing, then you should definitely check this place out. The menu is one page food and four pages drinks. Very darkly lit, but it adds to the atmosphere. Honey ham sandwich was very good. Pros: Beer selection, Scotch selection, Darts Cons: Smoking, Parking more

Better than Horsebrass 1/17/2003

Having eaten at Horsebrass many times, I loved their pot pies. But, those have really gone downhill, so it was WONDERFUL to find Moon and Sixpence. They have the best pot pie in town! Great beer selection as well. I would definately go over and over again! Pros: great food, wonderful beers, nice staff Cons: a little slow, couldn't hear music more

REAL British pub 12/30/2002

The first true British pub in Portland. Un-pretentious, really excellent food and amazing choice of beers. Great music on occasion and yes, you can feel free to dance. AMAZING! 9/16/2002

It's like they uprooted a random pub from england and planted it on 42nd street!!!! after reading the reviews here, i decided to try it out. I really miss pubbing w/ my friends in bristol, but when i went there, it was just like i was back in the UK!!! STELLAR (and authentic) FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, AND AMAZING ATMOSPHERE! exceeded expectations 9/12/2002

I was needlessly apprehensive about the service after reading several CitySearch reviews - our service was great, really friendly and prompt. The food was amazing, as close to the real thing as you can get this side of the Atlantic. SO many great imported beers on tap. The atmosphere was truly authentic (except maybe for the carpet). It might have a little less character and ""flair"" than other local so-called British pubs, but that's the point - it's more realistic. I would definitely recommend the Moon and Sixpence to anyone wanting a real British pub experience. Pros: good authentic food, extensive beer list, true British feel more

I Wanted to Like this Place, but ..... 7/14/2002

Atmosphere is closest to English pub I have seen in the States. Food is good and authentic. Good selection of English ales (Tetley's Fullers ESB, Tennant, etc.) and NW microsbrews on tap. English imports are a good value. BUT, service is mediocre and inattentive unless you are a regular. When the check came, I was charged for one more beer than I had. Bartender apologized and said she wasn't sure, but if it was wrong, she knew I would tell her. I'm guessing she was hoping the poor Yank wouldn't notice. And if you aren't a regular, you feel like an outsider. more
