I got poor cust service at this library and said more about it but as I did so on a "library computer" it would not "publish it" the employees need to communicate with each other....

Best available library resources per capita 7/24/2006

The MCPL is one of the finest libraries I've ever been to. I began my first date here in one of the movie booths. It's so enormous, the staff are friendly and helpful. If you consider the population it's meant to serve and compare that to a lot of libraries across the US that serve much larger populations, you might just be amazed. more

Vast resources 10/28/2005

Monroe County Public Library is much bigger and has many more resources that I ever expected. As with many libraries I have been to, they have wonderful programs for children. Some of these programs include story-time, and a room designated specifically for babies/toddlers/children. They have meeting rooms to use that are free of charge. Everytime that I go, the library is always clean and quiet, as well as beautiful!! more

great place 10/15/2005

I have to say that i have not spent much time in a library since college (many moons ago), but now that I have a child I am aware of what a good one we have here. I love to take my daughter to the children's department. They have a great section for babies with board books in shelves that are low to the ground. They also have an activity room for kids that is great. It has tables and puzzles and a play kitchen and some huge blocks to build forts with. It reall is a blast there. more

Our library is so great. 9/11/2005

Our public library is so unbelievable. I am so grateful to have such an incredible resource. I have lived in much bigger cities whose libraries didn't even come close to being in the same league. Their audio visual department is so big and up to date. I always reserve dvds online and pick them up at the drive-through window. I think it's great that they have access to the internet. The children's department is wonderful also. I take my daughter there regularly. She loves it and I love that there are still some of the same faces working there as when I was a kid. I can't say enough about our library! more

The best public library of its size I've ever been in 9/9/2005

It may seem strange to promote the Public Library ... I mean, it's not like it has competition from other public libraries ... but the MCPL is amazing. Once you've got a library card, you can go to their website, search their catalog, request items, and even pick up requested items at a DRIVE-THROUGH WINDOW! I mean ... come ON! Are these not the most fabulous amenities for, for instance, moms who never get the chance to go the library without kids in tow, and thus never get the chance to check out the stacks of grown-up books? Now you can search at home, send in your requests, and in most cases, pick up the books at the drive through (leaving the munchkins strapped into their carseats!) within a couple of days. Their collections of books, DVDs, and even computer games are really quite good, and they're also very receptive to ordering materials that you can request ... you can even request purchases online! I brag all the time on our library. And if you're new in town and haven't been there, definitely check it out. more
