miyabi kyoto is one of our favorites. the food is more than you can eat, the sushi is remarkable, the chefs are entertaining-i can't master the way they cut the shrimp to resemble free willy, a bunny rabbit..... be prepared to dance to the drums if it is your birthday. the decor is stunning from oriental dress and art to the star painted high ceiling. set on mats on the floor or at your table in chairs but enjoy miyabi's. more

Save some time to enjoy Miyabi's! You will start out with soup and salad, followed by the chef preparing your dinner at the table. Extremely entertaining, and be prepared to carry some home. I just noticed the ceiling on the last visit...it is midnight blue with stars painted on--very pleasing. oriental art and figures, a very pleasant staff to wait on you. more

This is the best Japanese steakhouse in the city. Their chefs cook in front of you and are always entertaining and lively. Every meal comes with Japanese onion soup, salad (definitely try the house dressing - it's ginger based!), shrimp appetizer (which the chefs often form into animal shapes like a bunny), fried rice, onions and zucchini, and your entree. Complete the experience by ordering hot green tea or sake to drink. The proportions are huge - you definitely need to come hungry. I often eat off of the leftovers for two more meals. My brother also loves the sushi menu there. Ask for a sushi menu and the menu describing what each kind of roll is. My brother claims that the Godzilla roll is the best because it takes more than one bite to eat. more
