Hiii-yah! Martial Arts Machine... 2/2/2007

My son just started at miller's Martial Arts Academy in Kirkland...and I can't say enough great things about them! Korbett Miller & his team really know how to keep the kids engaged as well as enriching them as human beings. Every month they have a life theme that they must learn about, and fill out a Q&A form explaining what they've taken away from the lesson. January's lesson was on Empathy & February's lesson is on Impulse Control (which every pre-teen REALLY needs to brush up on in my opinion...) If you decide to join, let them know that you heard about them from SHANNON BJORNSSON on Judy's Book... more

Super Martial Arts Academy 9/9/2005

This school trains all ages, but is especially good with kids as young as 4 years old. The owner & head instructor is Charles Korbett Miller. He teaches a form of gung fu with sport jujitsu mixed in, which involves standing forms and sparring and grappling. His bully-proofing program is wonderful and teaches kids how to stand up for themselves and others without getting into fights. The students learn how to carry themselves with confidence, using their voice and words to project strength. My older son has been training there for almost 7 years and is a black belt now, working towards his 2nd degree black belt. The lessons he's learned about self-discipline, focus, goal-setting, perseverance, and respecting others are invaluable. more

Excellent choice for body, mind, and spirit 5/4/2005

My daughter attends the Little Ninjas class (ages 4-6). We have truly fallen in love with this program and can't say enough good things about it. While doing an excellent job of teaching the little ones the physical martial arts skills, it also builds character and teaches important life lessons at the same time. The instructors are careful to stress the rules about when and where it is okay to use martial arts so you don't have to worry about siblings or playmates. They incorporate several different strategies like stickers, sewn-on stars, and belt colors to keep students motivated and progressing. The kids really do learn things like self-control, discipline, focus, persistance, and confidence. I feel it has made a huge positive impact both in my daughter's behavior and in her self-esteem and happiness. I'm pleased to recommend it. more
