We planned a surprise party at Mill Road Tavern for my parents to celebrate some really special milestones. Despite booking the party more than 3 months in advance, only one server was scheduled to tend to 33 people. The deck where we had the party was freezing (even though the party coordinator PROMISED it would be warm and cozy.) We had a set menu with 3 options. Instead of serving one entire table at a time so that they could eat their food warm, all of the chicken was served, then all of the fish, and then all of the beef. By the time everyone at any given table had been served, the food was cold (and not very tasty to begin with.) I was running around refilling glasses of wine and soda, as the server couldn't effectively tend to our guests. The coffee wasn't brewed when the dessert was ready to be served -- and it took forever for the decaf to make it out to the tables. The only way any of our guests were able to have hot tea, was when I went into the kitchen area myself to get the hot water and tea bags. Despite the disaster, the party coordinator at Mill Road Tavern refused to make it up to us by reducing our bill. It was a very disappointing experience. I highly recommend that you think twice before planning ANY special event at Mill Road Tavern.
