So i got a DUI for being .08? Anywayz went here best meal I ever had. Its across the street from the court LOL... really dark inside kind of like a cave.

Do not, under any circumstances, order the "red enchiladas". Pros: Good lighting, Nice bartender, Cable TV Cons: Nasty Food

Mexicali Rose is the real deal if you want excellent mexican food. The pink building should be some sort of a West Oakland landmark. more

Mexicali Rose has been around for many years and I know why because their food and drinks are good! Prices have not changed much at all! I always have a good time there with who ever I go with. I recommend anything on the menu to be great! more

Mexicali Rose Restaurant is a great Mexican place in downtown Oakland! 7/28/2009

This has got to be one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants I've had in a while! I didn't know that Oakland had this great secret, but it's been around for many years and is family owned! The building itself is very cute and colorful, can't miss it. The parking lot is kind of difficult to find a spot at, but there's plenty of street parking (metered). The portions are generous and the chips and salsa are absolutely delicious (as is everything else). It can get busy, so keep that in mind, but the service is good overall. more

The Best 7/27/2008

I've had my share of Mexican food and taquerias in my day, but nothing compares to Mexicali Rose. There are two sizes choose from: half plate for those who know where to stop eating, and the full order for those who like to be uncomfortably full. I love their green enchilada's. more

The Crab Enchiladas rock! 9/17/2002

There's nothing better than coming down on a Friday evening and getting a plate of their Crab Enchiladas. Their pork chops are also amazing - tender and juicy. The refried beans and rice are good staples that are consistently dlicious. Pros: crab enchiladas!, great Mexican food, affordable Cons: can get crowded more

After 10 years of world travel - nothing on EARTH beats the Fried Chicken & Margaritas at the Rose. Don't look at the menu -> just say Pollo Frito e Margaritas (large pitcher, rocks w/ salt). You'll be back....guaranteed more
