I love The Melting Pot! 4/21/2011

The Melting Pot of Raleigh is the perfect location for special occasions! The fondue is delicious and it was fun to sample different flavors and cook our food to our own specifications. The multiple courses help slow the meal down so you can truly savor your company while savoring your food! more

good fondue, terrible booths 3/10/2009

The fondue is very good and the service is excellent. We had the big night out and there was more food than we could eat. The flaming turtle is a wonderful desert, but I wish there were more strawberries and brownies on the platter, as they are far better than the other items. We went after the remodel and the place looks great, but the booths are terrible. They are very uncomfortable, as they have little back support, having little cushion and being straight up with no arch. For that reason, I would suggest sitting in a chair. Pros: food, service, the flaming turtle Cons: overpriced, terrible booths more

Great fondue place 8/5/2008

Every time I have been there it has been a good experience. It always looked clean to me. The food is delicious, and the staff is really friendly. The big con is the price, it is not the cheapest place in town. Pros: wonderful desserts Cons: expensive more

Something different! 7/30/2008

This restaurant is perfect when you're in the mood for something different! Great service and atmosphere. Even with the remodeling, it's worth a visit! The cheddar fondue was really good and the Yin&Yang dessert was fantastic! Pros: Selection / Styles of cooking more

Fun experience, but sanitary issues 3/7/2008

Almost everyone I talked to about this restaurant gushed about its incredible desserts, the fun of cooking fondue, and its amazing wine selection. All of that is true, but there is still a lot to be desired. Pros: great dessert and drinks, fun change of pace Cons: dirty overall, long wait, expensive more

Once Is Enough 1/18/2007

My husband and I were first time customers and more than likely last time customers. Although the service was very good, the atmosphere left us feeling like we were in a converted convenience store. The first coarse (cheese fondue) was excellent and we finished it. The caesar salad was also very good, however the entree cooked in our chosen coq au vin was less than interesting. Everything tasted the same. We were having trouble distinguishing the shrimp from the steak from the beef, etc. Perhaps because it was cooked in the same broth. The dessert was fabulous and the best part of the meal. It was a nice experience but one I don't care to indulge in again, primary because of the steep price and extraordinary amount of time to prepare and eat (over two hours). Its the only restaurant , however where you can dine and get a facial at the same time. Pros: unique experience, good service Cons: atmosphere, length of time to prepare and eat, overpriced more

great food, great atmosphere, steap price 9/29/2006

This place has wonderful food. It is really fun to cook your own food too. The cheese fondue appetizer and the dessert is the best part of the meal. It is very romantic. Unless you have really good kids, I wouldnt suggest you go here. It can be really fun for them though. It is really easy to spend $100 on dinner here. It is rather expensive but for the experience, the price is almost worth it. The service it incredible too. Make sure you make reservations. If you dont, you may be waiting for hours. Pros: food and atmosphere Cons: price and wait more

Worst Dinning experience ever 8/28/2006

First of all i made a resevation and talked to a manager he was extremely condesending. when we arrived for dinner they made us wait 45 minutes even though we had a reservation and there were clearly open tables. while waiting we overheard the waitstaff talking about, lets just say, very inapproiate things in the restaurant. by the time we got our seat we had to wait another 15 minutes before a waiter came to greet us when we finally got our food the lobster had obviously gone bad and the steak was not filet, as promised on the menu. we also overheard the management degrading the wait staff saying extremely inapproiate things, it was a very horrible experience i would have rather lit the 100 dollars on fire than spend it on spoilled food i had to cook myself Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

I'm in hog heaven 7/4/2006

It's expensive, yes...it's a lot of food, of course...this is one of those places that you treat yourself with maybe once a year. The dark, romantic vibe only complements the elegant interior further. The staff is polite and knowledgable, so helpful if this is your first time eating fondue. The menu can seem a bit confusing, but all you need to know is what dessert you want...whether it's the yin-yang (white chocolate and dark), the turtle, or one of your own creations, this is the course that makes the meal. On my last visit, our waiter recommended his own mix---something along the lines of Jack Daniels and milk chocolate...in the end, it tasted just like a warm brownie. To make the most of your experience, I would advise sharing your main course with a friend, as it is HUGE...and while it is difficult, try not to fill up on the cheese and bread. Pros: lots of great food Cons: pricey more

Calling all date-night couples! 6/5/2005

The Melting Pot is a great place. I do really enjoy eating there. But for some reason it has become the obligatory place in Raleigh for first dates, anniversaries, birthdays, college graduation dinners and the like. If you never get out of Garner/Knightdale and you cannot be bothered to actually think of a special place for your honey...just go to the Melting Pot and get it over with... You will love it and talk about the time you went to that fondue place over and over again, ad nauseum. Oh, and wish her a happy anniversary for me too. Pros: Food, Service, It's Cheese! Cons: You've got to call., Hiding the ring., Under-done chicken. more

Took Such Special Care of Us!!!! 2/22/2005

I made reservations at the Melting Pot for my boyfriend's birthday and we had an exceptional experience. The server and manager were so attentive to our needs and made sure that his birthday dinner would be one to remember! Out server was very knowledgeable about the menu and he had suggested a very nice Champagne to complement the meal. Big Kudos to the Melting Pot...thank you so much! We will definitely be back to visit soon. more

Excellent 1/6/2005

As the first fondue experience for my boyfriend and I, we were nothing short of impressed! The service, the atmosphere, and the food were awesome. We definitely recommend the ""Ultimate"" for its variety and value. For dessert, don't miss out on the Flaming Turtle--it's out of this world! more

Simply Amazing 11/16/2004

My husband and I went to the Melting Pot for a romantic ""just because"" dinner. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. The server was helpful and attentive. She walked us through our first time at a fondue restaraunt, and helped us pick exactly the right things for dinner and gave us tips on cooking it correctly. The food was marvelous, especially the ""flaming turtle"" dessert fondue. It was definately a night to remember. Pros: Helpful service, wonderful food, delightful atmosphere Cons: none!!! more

exceeded expectations 10/14/2004

While the Melting Pot can be a little on the pricey side, it is a once in a while treat. The wine list had wines that I can't get anywhere else in Raleigh. The service for me at least, is unmatched in Raleigh, and the experience was very relaxing and unique. I would recommend this to families with children as well - there were large tables for the kids and the kids I saw were having a great time cooking their own food. They also had a private dining room with what looked like a business meeting at the time. All of this under one roof! Our table was private and the rest of the world seemed to melt away, especially when we got our fondue chocolate! Pros: amazing wine list, great service, great ambiance more

Great Romantic Dinner 1/20/2004

This is the place to celebrate your anniversary. The all-inclusive dinner option includes your cheese fondue, salad, main meal fondue, chocolate fondue, and beverage. It's a little expensive, so most would not go every weekend, but it is worth the treat every now and then. It is not meant for kids (need to be careful with the hot fondue burner). For a few more $$, they'll even provide a vase w/a rose for your special someone. Pros: atmosphere, great food, chocolate fondue! Cons: little pricey more
