Long Time Customer! I've been taking my car to the Meineke Car Care Center in Maplewood, MN since the mid 1990's. This shop is the only place I like to take our vehicles. They do everything from oil changes to complex auto repairs and they do it very professionally. I have always felt confident with the work they do, and the prices they charge. I would highly recommend you give them a try. more

The guys here are great to work with, we had our car die and we needed an honest answer as to what was wrong. They not only gave us an honest answer but helped to get the vehicle's tires taken off we had just purchased at another repair place and allowed us to store the vehicle there until we could get it picked up. Thanks for the help. more

Absolutely no complaints about these guys. I've been taking my car in to this shop for a couple of years now and recently started taking my wife's in as well. To me the most important thing when it comes to dealing with mechanics is that they are up-front and honest. I can unequivocally say these guys meet those expectations. more

Highly recommended. I take both of our cars to this shop for regular maintenance. The staff is always friendly, greets me by name, and is honest in their service recommendations. I never feel pressured into getting any work done (or made to feel that my car is unsafe to drive because I chose not to get my tires rotated, for example). And when I do have something done (like exhaust system repair, which I've done in both of our cars in the last few months because they sounded like a pair of Harleys cruising down the street), the cost was very reasonable. And the repairs were super quick! more

As a women I have been very pleased with the service and the customer service I have received at Meineke in Maplewood Mn. I have been in multiple times, wheel bearings replaced, brakes, oil changes, my blinkers and wipers did not work and they fixed it, and used car inspection for my daughter. I would highly recommend this shop for service and honestly. As a women not knowing a lot about cars I felt very comfortable and no pressure sales. more

Honest,Good Shop 5/22/2012

I've been using this shop for about three years now. What a pleasure it is doing business with these guys. The work is always top notch and at a fair price. Don is one of the mechanics and this guy knows his stuff. He spends the time making sure I have the information as to what went wrong and the best route to fixing it. I would recommend this shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Lies, Scare Tactics, and Outrageous Prices (oh my!) 8/6/2011

""Pity be the single lady who walketh into the mechanic shop alone."" We've all heard the old adage, but I never truly believed it until today. I mean, this is Minnesota, the land of tater tot hotdish and 10,000 mosquito-infested lakes and honest, hardworking mechanics who would never dare lie to you to turn a profit, right? Eh... not so much. Backstory: my brakes had been screeching for a couple weeks. Not being a complete mouth-breathing moron, and understanding how to perform a basic Google search, I quickly figured out that my brake pads probably needed replacing. Easy fix, right? I scheduled an appointment at this Meineke, simply because I found a ""50% off brake pads"" coupon online. 50% off! Hoo boy! I brought my car in to the shop at 8:30am as requested. The mechanic was friendly enough -- said they'd take a gander at it, and let me know how much it would cost. He then disappeared into the shop, and I busied myself with reading celebrity trash magazines until he reappeared 20 minutes later with some bad news: Not only did I need new brake pads, but the specific style of my car required four hours of labor to put them on. (For the record, I drive a Hyundai Accent, not a DeLorean.) To add insult to injury, he told me that I had copious amounts of brake fluid leaking from my rear cylinders. ""If you let this go unfixed,"" he said with stern eyes, ""your brake lines will seize up, your brake pedal will hit the floor, you won't be able to stop, and you will go careening off a bridge into the Mississippi River at 90 miles per hour, ensuring your certain death."" (That's what I heard, anyway.) From his tone of voice, I might as well have had bloody spinal fluid leaking from my ass. THIS. WAS. SERIOUS. I asked for an estimate, and he printed one out for me -- $600 worth of labor, and over $300 in parts. And that was with the 50% off. And that, quite literally, would have been all the money I had in the world. After bawling my eyes out for approximately 3 minutes, I composed myself and told him I needed to get a second opinion. ""Okay,"" he said, in that displeased tone your mother probably uses when you bring home a guy with neck tattoos and a 4-gauge septum piercing. ""It's your car."" And this, friends, was my moment of salvation. Because when my regular mechanic hoisted my car up on his lift and took off my tires, he showed me: there were no leaks to be found. My brake lines were not minutes away from exploding. My cylinders were perfectly intact, my brake fluid levels were full, and the only thing I needed were two new brake pads in the front. Total cost including labor? $90. Approximately a tenth of what I would have paid at Meineke. And presto, my car runs like a wet dream once more. In summary: Suck it, Meineke. I may wear high heels and red lipstick and not know much about cars, but I'm smart enough to get a second opinion. more

The worst place to get your brakes done. 7/23/2011

Quoted me 150.00 on the phone for just front set of brakes. Brought my car in, asked them to look at the ABS sensor too, and see how bad the rear ones were. They then quoted me 1000.00 for ABS and brakes, and also told me my rear brakes were worn down, and they told me the front needed new rotors in addition to pads. I told them just to do the front, and they said it would be 450.00. I agreed, but when they handed me the bill it was SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS AND CHANGE. I got very angry and they claimed they had shown me the same invoice before they did the job. THEY DID NOT. I'm writing this now 9 months later because THE FRONT ROTORS ARE BAD. Just had them fixed, and the ABS sensor as well. 200.00 for rotors and sensor. And guess what else.. THE REAR BRAKES ARE JUST FINE. SO in addition to them shoehorning you into paying WAY too much for a simple brake job, they also use POOR QUALITY PARTS. Total snakes. I hope Meineke's entire chain goes into total bankruptcy. They deserve it. Worst repair experience I have ever had. STAY AWAY. I'd give the NEGATIVE INFINITY for a rating if I could. more
