Brenda McLain is a native of Thomasville, N.C. After graduation from high school, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she graduated with honors in psychology and highest honors in sociology. She attended law school at UNC-Chapel Hill and received her J.D. degree in 1979. She began practicing law in Shelby in 1982 and opened her solo firm in 1984. For the past 25 years, Brenda has dedicated her professional career to providing quality legal services for the people of Cleveland County.
