When visiting this MCD for about my 12th time, it struck me that this store is always above average in every way: service, promptness, courtesy, cleanliness--above other MCDs and their competition.
Its workers always appear to be motivated, focused, alert--knowing exactly what to do and when to do it. Areas on both sides of the ordering counter are kept clean. It's always easy to find a clean table. Let's be honest here: sometimes you and I will settle for a table that has that spilled gooey icky stuff still on it from the lunch crowd that cleared out 2 hours ago. That stuff isn't allowed to make a home at this restaurant's tables. I may have avoided one sticky table once, but that's about it. The two times I used the men's restroom I found it clean. Even the RedBox movie dispenser outside seems shinier than at other MCD sites. Parking area is always clear of litter and oil drips are cleaned and scrubbed by an outside professional crew. As for the food, it always has met the standard McDonald's corporate formulaic criteria as far as I can tell.
When I met the people in charge of this restaurant today, it was obvious that their crew enjoy working for them. I came away with the idea that the workers are given clear direction and appropriate coaching in order to meet high expectations and that they all work together well to attain them.
Months ago, when I first started working in this part of the metro I tried my usual favorite restaurant, Subway, in the nearby Wal-Mart. Though I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the lone worker at Subway, and though my sandwich met the very good Subway taste standards, it was also the worst put-together Subway sandwich I've ever had. (Weren't Subway workers once called ""sandwich artists?"") It's an art to drive while eating a Subway sandwich but up to that point I could always manage it. I knew I had a challenge when I saw him make it up and should have guessed that I would become the canvas for the art once I tried to eat it in the car. I trust that the worker at Subway has either improved his artistry or moved on. That aside, it's the McDonald's that has won this one: hands down!
Pros: well-trained, focused crew consistently impresses me
Cons: I wish the management would take over the MCD closer to me
