In Traverse City there are 2 post offices, one of which is the more accessible and far too popular as indicted by long lines and waits with little or no parking. I was one of the many who frequented this branch post office.
Not far from me is a small town called Mayfield with a tiny old post office. Here you'll find a lone post mistress, still using the old fashioned postal scale, stamps instead of a meter machine, all the while indulging you in some friendly chit chat with a smile.
I love going to Mayfield's post office knowing I will always be first *in line* (there's none). The hours are similar to other post offices but with earlier Sat. hours, which I like.
I feel lucky that I have such a place to send my mail quickly with a touch of old fashioned charm.
