Marz Salon

I just got home from getting my haircut and colored at Marz Salon. Ray did a fabulous job cutting my hair. I have very fine hair and have til now, not found anyone that could please me. I have the best ever cut and color. I am so happy I'm almost speechless. Never have I left a solon and been so PLEASED!!!! Priscilla did my color and WOW!!!! I love the color and love the highlights. Down to earth friendly salon.....I'm now a regular. I would reccomend MARZ SALON to even the pickiest people. You'll love it. Prior to my appointment today at Marz Salon I researched many salons in the Modesto area by reading reviews online. Since recently relocating to this area I knew that I couldn't fly back to my hair stylist in Newport Beach (who was 2 hours from where I lived previously) and that I had to find someone in the Modesto area. I am very particular about my haircut and color. I was so nervous prior to my appointment, but based on the reviews that I found online I felt confident making my appointment at Marz Salon. I called and left a message for Ray regarding my need to have my hair cut and colored. Priscilla from Marz Salon called me back and scheduled my appointment to have my hair cut by Ray and colored by herself. I really appreciated that Priscilla told me upfront that she would be the person coloring my hair and that Ray would be cutting it. At the previous salon that I was going to I had a different person color and cut my hair so I told Priscilla that this would not be a problem. So, today was my big day to get my hair cut and colored....and am I so happy that I went to Marz Salon! I was really pleased with how personable Ray is and how he listened to my needs. I did not at all feel as if Ray was talking me into a haircut that I did not want, but Ray did offer me options if I wanted change up my current style. Ray was very precise in how he cut my hair and I could tell that he takes great pride in making sure his clients are happy. After my haircut, Priscilla discussed my color options with me. Priscilla is really nice and she wanted to make sure I picked the right color that I wanted. I really enjoyed Priscilla's advice on what color to choose. I am so happy with the color option Priscilla decided to go with and the color is exactly what she told me I would have. Lastly, the parking is not difficult at all. I found these favorable reviews about Marz Salon, and decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did! I walked in with frumpy, shapeless, tired hair. I wanted a good, low-maintenance cut and nice highlights, and that's what I got. For once, I wasn't forced into a trendy cut that didn't match my lifestyle or hair type. \r \r Priscilla highlighted my hair. I couldn't explain exactly what I wanted, so she chose some colors and explained what she was doing as she went. She did a wonderful job! She told me that if I didn't like anything about it, that she would fix it. Ray cut my hair next. My main requirement was that my hair be left long. Clearly, he pays attention to detail. We didn't talk extensively about the style I wanted because I wasn't sure about that either. He gave me a low-maintenance, beautiful cut. And it's still long! I think my hair looks great, and so does my husband, so the trip was worth it.\r \r Marz Salon is small, unpretentious and urban, with colorful, airbrushed murals and Craftsman tool chests at each station. Parking was easy; I had an appointment at noon on a weekday, and found a spot on the lowest level of the 12th street parking garage nearby. I thought the prices at Marz were reasonable. more

FINALLY, I got a great haircut in Modesto! MARZ is the place I got it. Ray gave me a terrific precision haircut. He told me before he cut my hair what he thought would work best and he was right. I've had many bad haircuts in the past three years and had almost given up. It's a haircutting salon without pretension. Ray is so down-to-earth and wants you to look good in his cut. He says that's his best advertisement. When I needed a quick touch up he got me in right away. I had no trouble finding parking close by. But I'd walk a mile to get a haircut from Ray. Hey all, I love this place. But most of all I love Loretta.... She is my Girl. She been doing my hair color and cut for 4 or 5 years.. She always tells me she loooves my hair, cuz it does what ever she wants it to do. ""Thanks Girl, to Bad your hair is not like mine."" LOL... I've been going to a great hair studio for years in San Jose and they've always done a great job....until the last haircut....where the lady butchered my hair. Dissappointed, I decided to try another place. I know a lot of people around the valley and the bay, and a friend recommended a lovely lady named Loretta at Marz salon in modesto. She did an amazing job, one of the best haircuts I've had almost ever. She gave me details into how she was cutting my hair and why she was doing it certain ways..and instead of just styling it, she explained how i could do the same at home! It was a great experience, the atmosphere is great and since I do go great lengths to get the finest treatment, it was definitley worth the trip from the bay! more

Loretta did a darling hair-do for my 6 year old, a flower girl in her uncle's wedding. She had come to the church to help with all of the bridesmaid's hair. She even found time to help with our little girl, even when I know it didn't suit the best for her. Thank you, thank you! You did a beautiful job and made a little girl's dream come true. She is still talking about her curls and how much fund she had being all done up. We will definitely be back, Loretta. more

After reading the reviews for this Salon , I decided to call... I am sooo glad that i did!!!! \r I have been in the area for 4 years and still had not found someone i thought was great ... I had pretty much given up and decided to cut and color my own hair, because I was tired of being disapointed, and with long hair, the results of a bad salon trip can be pretty devastating! We all know that !\r I asked to speak to Ray and told him, I was looking for the"" best haircut had ever had"" (the title on one of the reviews! ) he immediatley took the challenge and said ""well great why don't you let me give it a try"" and I was offered an appointment the next day! Which as we all know when you finally decide to take the chance is important so you don't loose your nerve !\r The salon is easy to find .. but parking can be a little tough .. as the others said .. give your self a few extra minutes to park. \r \r The salon is quaint and trendy ,not fancy, but very homey .. \r Ray is very easy going and great to talk to ... \r \r He spent and and hour and 20 minutes cutting and styling my hair .... He styled it beautifully and then asked if i used a flat iron ( which i do sometimes ) and asked if i wanted him to show me how do it with a flat iron said it would only take a minute !!\r \r He listened to what i wanted and DID NOT want .. and made suggestions on what he thought would look good and what my hair needed. \r \r I expressed interest in ""color"" and he introduced me to Marcie .. the colorist .. and i got to question her client ... who looked gorgeous and also had come in with ""Hair In Trouble""\r She gave me a card and said call when i wanted to come in ... I've been getting my hair cut by the owner, Ray, for a while now. He is great fun to talk to. Very charming. But my haircuts are the best. They always grow out so good. I never seem to have that ""in between"" hair. The best part is I don't have to go as often to have it cut because it stays looking good for so long. It's clean. Everyone is freindly. The atmosphere is fun and really cool. Parking can be a little difficult but much easier if you go after regular business hours or on the weekend, and they have parking passes so you can park on the street for up to 4 hours! This place has to be one of the best salons in Modesto; service is very good, attitude of stylists and owner is always excellent, and the decor is very cooool. Been going to this place ever since I moved out here from the bay area, had tried a couple of other places till I was recommended by a few friends to try Marz. Called and made an appointment with Loretta who came highly recommended. When I arrived she took the time to answer all my questions as well as offer some suggestions, this made me feel very comfortable about her expertise since I am very picky when it comes to my hair. We then decided to try a little different cut and color and let me tell you my hair has never looked better, I constantly get compliments and asked ""Who does your hair""!..... and even though I hate to share her (jk) I always recommend her to my cohorts and friends who all say the same, this place is a great find in Motown. My hairdresser of many years was unable to cut and color my hair one weekend and I really needed to get it done. I called around and was able to book an appointment with AnnMarie at Marz. Not only was going to her like sitting with a dear friend for a couple of hours, but she is knowledgeable and made me feel at home. The icing on the cake was having my hair look the best it's ever looked! I will definitely be coming back. Oh, and the owner took the time to talk to me and make me feel welcome. An added plus! more
