Mapleview Animal Hospital

I thought this vet was very knowledgible and caring. At church, I asked for a recommendation and many of the members said to go to him. I'm very glad our Harley and Charley have great people to care for them. The pricing is good too. more

We are very picky about where to take our pets and when we moved into town, they were the 3rd place we went to check out--We have been with Mapleview ever since because we found them to be most knowledgible and caring to our pet. From the time we set the appointment, our consultation, and the help they gave us with our puppy's worm problems---we have been extremely lucky to have found them. Our dog is now running around and healthy as ever. Also: thanks for all the extra literature on how to train our dog--your help has made him much more enjoyable! more

I have had nothing but good experiences going to Mapleview. We had switched vets from Mapleview to Ottawa Animal hospital on the recommendation of our trainer. When our pet became ill Ottawa Animal hospital dropped the ball quite literally! It took them almost two weeks of my pet going through excrutiating pain for them to diagnose her (and tons of money on our part with no results). Once we did receive a diagnosis it was all about the money and we were not given any options...Luckily, Mapleview was wiling to step in and take care of our pet without taking us to the cleaners to do it, and when it came time to put our pet down was nothing but compassionate and caring through the whole process. Jill Veldhof is a wonderful vet and has always answered all of our questions! We now bring our new puppy to see her...I would recommend her and Mapleview to anyone! more

Our dog died because of the negligence from Dr. Bader and his staff. We took her there because she was vomiting. Bader's staff told us that she was allergic to her food and to change it to another brand. It made her worse. They told me that I must be causing our dog to be sick because I was under a lot of stress from family tragedy. Dr Bader minimized everything she was going through, and even laughed at how concerned I was and prescribed Rimadyl, which made her worse. She was vomiting brown gunk in big pools all over the place. After 3 weeks we begged him to refer us to Michigan State. After much delaying (3 hours) and with a big chip on their shoulders we got the referral. We took her Michigan State's Small Animal Clinic immediately and found out, in two days, that she had stomach cancer. She had lost over 30 lbs in Dr. Bader's care in just 3 weeks and she couldn't stand up because she was so weak. Michigan State vets performed surgery on her and the cancer had spread to 2 lymph node more

I wish I could say good things about Mapleview Animal Hospital in Holland, MI but I really can't. Dr. Jim Bader examined my cat. He seemed knowledgeable about his work, however he seemed extremely rushed. It could be his style, but I felt like he did not take the time to explain my cat's condition or my options. He essentially gave my cat a shot of antibiotic and sent us off on our way. I had to ask him myself what the antibiotic shot would do for my cat. I like to know what's going on with my cat so an explanation would have been appreciated. I also would have liked to have known the cost of the antibiotic shot before they administered it and billed me for it. Luckily I had my credit card to cover the costs. I did not have a good experience at Mapleview. I investigated other vets in the area and found the Ottawa Animal Hospital (620 Butternut) and had a completely opposite experience. I was given a cost estimate each step of the way to know how much debt I was getting into and the staff was very patient with me. I would never return to Mapleview. Consider Ottawa Animal Hospital before bringing your pet to Mapleview. Pros: New building, clean atmosphere Cons: Uncaring staff, rushed, not patient. more
