Maple Avenue Pub

When first entering this neghborhood pub, I got the impression that it was dingy. Kind of dimly lit and not well decorated, (It could use the Home Makeover), the first impression may not be great. After about twenty minutes though, I completely forgot those minor details. My first time I had the Pub Burger and fries. Figured that was probably safest. DELISH!!! The burger was massive! Now to admit, I am rather small but even my guy friend said it was big. The burger was cooked to my specifications, and WOW tasty! The bartenders were not only quick, but also very entertaining. The DJ played both of my off the wall requests, and the music was a nice mixture. Not all Club or Hip-Hop but a little of everything. But the topper, was getting the bill. Three of us ate and drank for four hours, and our tab was $80. Awesome food and drink specials. Thanks Maple!! You will see alot of us. more

they really need better bartenders & servers, these people dont know what they are doing! i'll give the guys some credit, but the girls are clueless, & they aren't even pretty!! way too many "kids" in there, it's like a 21 yr old haven! I swear there was like a fight every 30 min. I got some of the worst service and they constantly got my order wrong & even when I made a complaint, this girl, "Beth" just rolled her eyes in her head & walked away, but she sure expected a tip!... here's a tip, learn to bartend! WORST BAR EVER!!!!! Pros: if you are young and want to fight, this is your place! Cons: horrible drinks, atmosphere, employees! more

Ok whomever said you have to tip well is right! But I am a firm believer in tipping well. After all the person who you are tipping is doing one of the following: taking your order, cooking your food or transferring your food. When will tipping like garbage ever give you any insurance that your food is on the way. If you can't tip well, eat at home! The people who are behind the bar are people, just like you have a thirst for liquor or are hungry, they have the same desire for tips, to feed their family or selves., I have never been a waiter but i have been friends with many if you don't tip well you have dug your own grave. Try tipping well everywhere you go even if the waitress or waiter has a bad day still tip well and magically all of your dining experiences will magically get better. Not a Hard concept to figure out :) The time i have spent here over the past months has had it's moments mostly able to get my drinks when i want them or within a couple of minutes. Compared to the down-town Naperville meat-market scene this is a beacon in the night. Also right down the road is the worst bar of all time the lodge, where tipping well means nothing. And one of the best bars for myself is also right down the road, the squirrel cage, tipping moderately means the world :) Pros: Great place to meet people without being a meat market Cons: Parking situation, suggestion park in back :) more

bad service, poor entertainment, low quality food, alot of fruit flies ! they "marry" their alcohol bottles, which means they keep the old bottles and top them off every night to look like they are new! their bartenders only wait on their " favorites", you'll be stuck waiting! better tip huge or you will be ignored! i agree, the girls they got behind the bar do NOT know what they are doing & the waitresses constantly forget about you & what you ordered! the people who work there party too much & it's a very rowdy crowd! alot of fights & youngins'. parking lot is accident prone, watch your car!!! i have witnessed many fights at maple, one of the reasons i stopped going there! i have seen drunk bouncers & waitresses & bar tenders! i also see the manager, "carter" drink alot as well & from what i understand he suffered a heart attack at maple! i think the bartenders allow people to drink way too much & then watch them get into their cars & potentially hurt someone! it's all about the $$$! to me, this "dive-bar" which i feel is the appropiate term to use, is filled with young drunks & druggies who party in the bathroom stalls & then the fights & bad music speaks for itself! i did, however, have the pizza, it wasn't bad, but nothing more then that! not worth risking anything over! i have witnessed very pretty bartenders in the past who were actually great, but the jealously & competition among them got those girls either fired or made them want to quit! ( i don't blame the later!) i think the good reviews this place gets is coming from their current employees & not patrons! to me, this place is bad news! you can keep bashing the lodge all you want, but it is a step up from maple! if you are looking for trouble, then maple is the place for you! i wouldn't recommend it otherwise. you never know what to expect & that's a risk i am no longer willing to take! contact your local police dept. they will tell you how often they get calls from or about this place! better off safe then sorry later. I've read most of the reviews on here and I must say that I agree and disagree. It does have a "dive-bar" feel but I think that is the point. It's a neigborhood bar with cheap drinks. A jagerbomb is 6 bucks yea, but drive 8mins to downtown Naperville and there are 8-12 bucks and poured light. The Lodge doesn't even have Jager, they have some knockoff brand AND they chage more for them. A well drink was like 4 or 5 bucks and the bartender poured it pretty good. I don't expect any bartender to jepordize thier job for us patrons by over-pouring and I can say I got a good pour and good service. I also noticed that the economy is struggling and the smoking-ban has effected the bar industry by over 30% since the new year so that needs to be taken into consideratin when complaining about prices and small crowds. I was actually at the bar this past Saturday night to catch a tribute band and it was pretty damn good. I looked at thier calender and noticed they have booked KASMIR in the past, along with ANIEMA, BLACK PEARL, ONE NIGHT IN GOTHAM, MOST ABOUT NOTHING, etc. These are all exceptional bands covers, tributes and originals. As far as, "garage bands," go I have seen a few there and I also know from once being in the industry, summer is the hardest time to book bands with all the fairs. When I was there I spent a lot of money and was comped a round or two by a bartender who was a nice guy. I'm in my 30's and divorced so I do enjoy looking at attractive female bartenders but I also know that the bulk of them are terrible. I would rather tip my 30% on a guy who gets my drinks, has my food order righ and is quick than a hot 22yr old who is too busy texting or fixing her make-up. I've also been to the Lodge and I wasn't allowed in because I had a hat on and it was, "club night." I watched MTV and saw people in New York clubs wearing hats and it humored me. When I was at the Lodge a fight brokeout that was horrible. Never seen that at Maple. I would prefer Maple anyday! Pros: Great service, nice crowd, excellent food and good drinks Cons: Parking more

If you want a casual place to eat and drinik this is the place for you. Friendly bartenders that really know how to mix a drink. Great prices, probably the cheapest prices in the area. Waitress Lisa is probably the friendliest person that you could ever meet. Summer and fall nights are hopping with plenty of softball teams crying in their beer or celebrating. They have a diverse menu with the best thin crust pizza in the area. My favorite is free pool on Sundays where I can usually be found. I love Maple Pub. There are some things I would change, like the parking situation and maybe the amount of alcohol poured...people want to taste it! Sometimes it seems too watered down. On the up-side, the thing that keeps me coming back is the awesome customer service. It's not often that the owner and the managers of a bar come out and interact with the customers. Carter(manager) seems to be hands on when it comes to customers and always make sure that customers are being taken care of and more importantly, always having fun. He, along with the others who run the place deserve a lot of credit for making the bar atmosphere enjoyable. Props to the bartenders and servers as well. Some could be a little faster at getting drinks, but over all, they know how to keep us drinking and have a good time. The food is awesome! Especially the pizza! thank god for miracles! "debbie is gone!" well, that is about the only good thing here! the drinks are still poor and only the male bartenders seem to know what they are doing & i would prefer a good looking female to pour my drinks, no such luck here! maybe matt could wear a wig? LOL! anyways, they need to get some "real" bartenders who actually know what they are doing who are female & soft on the eyes (if you know what i mean), i agree that their bands are some of the worst, poor, garage bands that i have ever seen & when i really want to hear some good music, i must admit, the lodge is the place to go! this place is more like a joke resembling a bad college bar. if you have just turned 21 and have not had much experience in a bar, then this is a place for you, otherwise this is a very sud-standard "dive-like" place & you will be very disappointed here. too many young drunk fights occur here, which really makes this a lower class place. sorry, but it's the truth. I've seen the past review about Debbie and to our readers relief Debbie is GONE!!!!!!!! no longer works at the MAP. I'll be honest. I work at Maple Ave so I guess I am biased, however I do love my job, my regulars, my coworkers, and most of all, the food and drink served at my place of employment. We have a fantastic time every day that we are open probably because everyone who is working there now has worked there for years minus Debbie's replacement ;) and we all feel like one big happy family and to be honest we will do almost anything to oblige to a customers needs so come on in and enjoy some of the best pizza and best drink specials in the 630!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-------Jen Pros: friendly servers, quality food, quality pours :):):) Cons: parking isnt real great on a very busy night, a few bad seeds gave us a bad rep in the past more

debbie needs to leave! there used to be nice and pretty bartenders, but not anymore! their drinks are just thrown together, not very well i must say! their service is very bad and their atmosphere is more like a dive bar, not a night club! their bands are very much like gargage bands, no real talent to be seen there. they lose alot of business due to debbie!
