While I thought the food was okay, and the prices reasonable, we had a host of other problems that would stop me from eating there. The biggies? First, they don't honor reservatio...

We found this breakfast gem on our way to the waterfront last weekend. While waiting for our meals they offered us a choice of some very yummy rosemary scones or Danishes, these were on the house no less! I had the Salmon Hash and it was awesome. My friend had the French toast and said it was one of the best she has ever had. I will definitely be back. more

Great find for my wife's birthday lunch. Good waiter, helpful and friendly, and decent food. Helped me with bringing out a surprise gift with the complimentary birthday dessert. Life memories! more

Scrumptious breakfast! Mama Mia's has always been my favorite Italian restaurant now it's going to be my go to for breakfast. I had a bacon Frittata with ricotta and it was so good. My friend brioche bread stuffed French bread was awesome. You even get a complimentary rosemary scone or Danish; my Danish was so buttery it melted in my mouth. more

Amazing restaurant! The staff is great. Always pleasant, helpful and all-around enjoyable. The food is delightful. Very filling and extremely tasty. If you are going for the first time..I recommend trying the Chicken Parm or the NY Steak. Both absolutely phenomenal! Both juicy, tender and cooked to perfection. more

I LOVE Mama Mia. I work in the downtown 6/5/2012

I LOVE Mama Mia. I work in the downtown area and I canâ??t find a better place to eat lunch. Their new Arugala salad is the perfect meal to help me finish out the long work day. Also, their garlic bread is some of the best. I love that they started giving it out a lunch without asking. more

Love the new lunch menu items. The 4/18/2012

Love the new lunch menu items. The Penne Lobster and Cheese was perfect in every sense of the word. Thick chunks of lobster meat, a creamy sauce to add rich flavor to the dish, and of course loaded with cheese. I couldn't rave enough about how much I love Mama Mia. If you haven't tried it yet, then you are missing out!!! more

Authentic as it gets 12/5/2011

Great authentic Italian food. I spent a year abroad in Italy and after coming home, I haven't found anything that compares to the Italian food from Italy, except for Mama Mia. The portions are huge like Italy, and the sauce and pasta, all has an authentic taste to them. Mama Mia does Italian food the way it is supposed to be done. more

Excellent Happy Hour 11/11/2011

I came in for happy hour because I work down the street and I was pleasantly surprised by their happy hour menu and prices. Everything on the Happy Hour menu was $3 with the purchase of a drink. For under $10 (without tip) I was able to get a beer, calamari, and manicotti. The portion of the calamari and manicotti was not at all what I expected for $3. They were very filling portions and I found myself not eating dater till later that night. The bar is a great place to just sit back and relax after work and catch the days game while traffic dies down. Mama Mia is definitely going to be my happy hour spot after work. more

Portland's Best Italian Restaurant 10/28/2011

Simply wonderful. I always have a craving for Italian food and I have tried nearly all of them in the Portland area and none are better then Mama Mia. I don't even bother going to other Italian restaurants because Mama Mia is that good. The food is the most authentic that I have found. Not to mention the staff is AWESOME! They are very friendly and know exactly how to help me decide on what to eat. The prices are very fair and the portions you get will definitely fill you up. more

Great Italian lunch for a great price!!! 10/22/2011

I am so happy that Mama Mia is now open for lunch. I work in the downtown area so it is a real treat to have such great Italian food for lunch. The new lunch menu is very extensive and well priced. It was hard to choose because everything look so great. The service as usual was remarkable and very personable. The new owner came by my table to ensure I was enjoying everything, which showed me the staff cares very much about their customers. I ordered the Prosciutto Caprese Panini and it was absolutely delicious. The ciabatta bread and basil aioli complemented the prosciutto perfectly. I highly recommend Mama Mia for lunch. You certainly will not be disappointed. more

Momma Mia's is our new favorite restaurant! 7/22/2011

We chose Momma Mia's for a birthday dinner. What a great choice! My daughter said it was the best lasagna she has ever eaten, including in Europe, and that the flavors just popped in her mouth. The eggplant parmagiana was equally wonderful. Our waiter, Danny, was absolutely awesome, and the rest of the staff was very attentive too. Can't wait to go back. more

Such a friendly staff! Great food to boot. 8/14/2010

Incredibly friendly and responsive staff. Great food, filling portions. This place does Italian right! more

I love Italian food and this place is very good 8/13/2010

I lived in Italy for years and I can honestly say that this is a good Italian restaurant. Great food very authentic and still new creative flare to the classic dishes. The only downer is the service could be a little better, but it was not bad just a little slow. more

Amazing Food 8/13/2010

My friends has talked this place up for a long time and I finally had the opportunity to visit last month. There were 4 adults and a 2 year old and we received excellent service! We each ordered a different dish and I must say i tried every single one and they were AMAZING! Great prices, delicious food, wonderful service, what more can you ask for? PS I love Mother's for breakfast which is owned by the same people and right next door :) more

Loved the atmosphere! 6/22/2010

I made dinner reservations for 10 people, which included one baby, a toddler and a five year old. When we showed up everything was ready in this little area set aside, it was perfect. Everyone was very friendly and hospitable. We don't live in Portland, but we were in the area for a little family weekend get-away. My in-laws were very impressed and kept complimenting me on my choice (they are more used to the generic Olive Garden feel of things). Everything was absolutely magnificent and the prices were not too bad either...\r \r My husband loved the lasagna special that they were serving that night. I really enjoyed the penne ala vodka, however I usually go for the manicotti. \r \r Even though we are not really from the area it was fairly easy to find and it was in walking distance to many little shops and the market. \r I highly recommend this restaurant and I am really looking forward to our next visit Pros: excellent service Cons: none that I could think of... more

Very good food - within walking distance from many hotels 4/28/2010

We walked from the Hotel Monaco. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. Luckily, we had reservations. There were several prom couples in attendence which was cute. We started out with an antipasto plate which was amazing. So many different choices and all presented and done well. My husband had veal and I had eggplant. Both were delicious. The service was distracted but maybe that's to be expected with such a crowded place. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a quiet dinner unless it was a week night. We did have fun, though. Even if we had to shout a bit! Pros: Superior food - veal stands out Cons: Noisy, tables a bit close, service not the greatest more

Absolutely amazing pasta!! 4/10/2010

I took my husband and the kids (two boys, 11 and 13) here on Friday night and besides slow service, we had a great time. The kids split Ceasar Salad and each of us adults had one house salad. Both salads were very good, the house salad came with thinly sliced red onions and generous portion of pecans. For main dish we ordered Pizza Margarita, Lasagna, Gnocchi and Fettuchini Alfredo with Sausage. Everything was great but the pasta was the best! Unfortunately, it was not my order so I could not eat as much of it as I wanted:) I will have to return and have some pasta all for myself. For the prices being quite low, we all got full fast and brought leftovers home for next day's lunch. The dessert was gellato, however, Mio Gellato makes it better. Pros: handmade pasta, very cute interier, very reasonable prices Cons: service can get slow more

Fantastic 1/18/2010

Having had the previous pleasure of dining at Mother's Bistro, I was really looking forward to a wonderful meal at Mama Mia. I was rewarded with such a great experience. Although I found it somewhat difficult to read the menu due to the very dim lighting, the meal was exquisite. Lisa Schroeder and her lovely daughter Stephanie present a dining experience the way it should be. Lisa (a Culinary Institute of America Alum), has gone out of her way to create a menu resplendent with Italian food prepared the way it ought to be. The idea of presenting excellent food, at a reasonable price while still eye appealing, and perfectly prepared at the right temperatures and served by polished friendly staff makes this place a must do. I highly recommend the Chicken Francaise which had flavor that exploded in my mouth like a sky rocket. Don't forget to leave a little room for canolis prepared the way they should be and filled just before serving so the tubes do not get soggy. As a recently relocated to Oregon from Philadelphia certified exec chef / culinary arts instructor for almost forty years, I would like to say a public thank you for a marvelous dining experience. Pros: Everything Cons: Dim Lighting made it difficult to read the menu more

Totally Over-rated 10/19/2009

This place is one of the most over rated restaurants in Portland. The owner, Lisa Schroder, must have a great public relations person, cause this place sure does get a lot of undeserved attention.\r \r There are sooooo many better Italian restaurants, don't waste your time with this one. Pros: Wish I could think of one Cons: Food, service more

Best Service EVER! 6/9/2009

Our waitress was one of the best I have ever had in Portland. I think her name was Stephanie. She was energetic, fun, had perfect recommendations and made our dining experience memorable and fun! The food was incredible, very flavorful and great proportions! Pros: Service, Food more
