My honey and I always have a hard time getting good vegetarian foods at Latin American restaurants because the menus are full of steaks, chicken, and fish dishes. Well, we have found one place that has all that plus caters to us, vegetarians! Enchiladas matagalpas are delicious -- finger-licking blended beans topped with vinegary-soaked fresh veggies served on a hard tostada shell. The gallo pinto, traditional rice&beans, are served as a side order. The appetizer menu is full of options including beans and tostones (plantains) and sourcream, repocheta (cheese oozing grilled tortilla, the Nicaraguan version of grilled cheese sandwich), and all of their condiment trays are complimentary with the purchase of a meal. The condiment tray carries flavorful onions, tomato laden sweet salsas, chimichurri, and if you put this on your rice and beans you will not believe how good rice&beans taste! The price is right at this place for every dish they have. You can dress down and the waiters will still serve you with dignity (unlike at the infamous Los Ranchos). So, get ready for a treat if you decide to stop at this very authentic Nicaraguan neighborhood restaurant.
Pros: veggie-friendly, authentic Nicaraguan, easy parking
Cons: mall restaurant ambience
