This is a great little family restaurant in the heart of sweetwater. I have been there at lunch time and recently for dinner and the food has been exceptional. The churrasco steak is cooked to eat with the plantains and rice. The service is also very good and a plus. The expresso coffee puts the final touch to an excellent meal. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to eat good food at a reasonable price. more

You don't get what you pay for. The food was decent but the service is very lacking. A 15% tip is automatically added to the check so there is nothing you can do about the poor service. Skip this place and go elsewhere. more

MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT / BEST FOOD EVER!!! 2/23/2010

I have been having lunch at this restaurant for years (Great prices) My fiancee & I used to go every day for lunch, some times for dinner and sometimes for breakfast on the weekends.. we never got bored of their food.. amazing taste... Everything I tried I like it.. I cannot say there was anything ever that could make me feel uncomfortable. The place is always clean, smells good. One thing I don't like when I go to restaurants is having the smell of the food on my clothes.. I hate it and in Madroño that never happened, :-) .. If you ask what would I recommend, definitely the repocheta for appetizer, tacos or nacatamal. After, Tradditional Carne Asada 3/4 :-) if not that hungry, then try the sopa de res or sopa de queso, lastly for dessert the Buñuelos!! This is what I like, but feel free to order just anything, You'll love it :-) I moved to MSP so I cannot go anymore.. just when I go to visit !!! Pros: I just love this place!!! Food, ambient!! Everything!! more

Service: Extraordinary - Food: Exquisite A+ 12/15/2009

This restaurant is a hidden gem in a local shopping center; don’t let the location fool you once you enter this amazing restaurant you will feel like you are in an upscale/modern restaurant. I took my husband for his birthday and the reviews were right, this place is awesome the atmosphere is just perfect family oriented and at the same time romantic and quiet. Tables are perfectly set, the food is superb I had the Shrimp in Garlic sauce which was delicious, my husband had the traditional Carne asada, we also tried the Beef soup which was excellent (medium size is huge) I will say is a whole meal. The repochetas are authentic nicaraguanse style. The price is just right for the amount and quality of food. I am completely satisfied with the service at this restaurant the come by your table often and they are very very well trained waiters. I wasn’t even done with my soup when they brought my entree and the waiter said "" Let me take this back and keep it warm until you are done with your soup so it doesn’t get cold"" I have never had some one done this at a restaurant for me! I truly believe that this restaurant will be successful anywhere they open if they continue to care for their clients the way they do. I will definitely go again and again and I will bring friends and recommend this restaurant to anyone. Pros: Best Service in town like no other one! Cons: None at all. more

Everything you could want in a restaurant 10/24/2009

Really delicious nicaraguan food for a very fair price. what is most surprising is the service. You could sit down, order a 'carne asada' for 9.50, get a salad, complimentary bread, and two sides, and be served with interest and care. Just thinking about the taste of the meat makes my mouth water. more

Authentic Nicaraguan food for Vegetarians? 7/7/2006

My honey and I always have a hard time getting good vegetarian foods at Latin American restaurants because the menus are full of steaks, chicken, and fish dishes. Well, we have found one place that has all that plus caters to us, vegetarians! Enchiladas matagalpas are delicious -- finger-licking blended beans topped with vinegary-soaked fresh veggies served on a hard tostada shell. The gallo pinto, traditional rice&beans, are served as a side order. The appetizer menu is full of options including beans and tostones (plantains) and sourcream, repocheta (cheese oozing grilled tortilla, the Nicaraguan version of grilled cheese sandwich), and all of their condiment trays are complimentary with the purchase of a meal. The condiment tray carries flavorful onions, tomato laden sweet salsas, chimichurri, and if you put this on your rice and beans you will not believe how good rice&beans taste! The price is right at this place for every dish they have. You can dress down and the waiters will still serve you with dignity (unlike at the infamous Los Ranchos). So, get ready for a treat if you decide to stop at this very authentic Nicaraguan neighborhood restaurant. Pros: veggie-friendly, authentic Nicaraguan, easy parking Cons: mall restaurant ambience more
