Three Children and Still Happy! 2/16/2010

Dr. Maddison and her nurse Joan are a solid team. While I've seen every physician in the practice as of 2004, in both the old office and the new, after having my first emergency c-section, Dr. Maddison has been my primary caregiver. While other support staff did not believe I was already in labor at 37 1/2 weeks in '04, Dr. Maddison took it all seriously - and good thing, too - my baby had turned around (again) and was breech! With my second child, she didn't hesitate to schedule my c-section (which I medically had to have) before 38 weeks knowing I naturally show signs of labor a little early. With my third, and tighter hospital regulations making a c-section before 39 weeks difficult, she is still willing to do what is needed to ensure I have my baby safely before I go into labor - even though I've relocated out of state! I plan to come back to Raleigh to have my baby with Dr. Maddison. Excellent doctor. Excellent surgeon.\r \r When considering a practice, keep in mind the front office and ancillary staff are working in their own world sometimes. Mid-Carolina is a very busy practice, but your doctor will listen to you and do what is best for you at all times. The hospital L&D staff have nothing to do with the OB practice. I have had mixed experiences with Rex L&D/Postpartum staff. It is NOT a reflection on Dr. Maddison! She is fantastic. Pros: Personable, professional, knowledgeable Cons: Busy practice with sometimes frazzled front office staff more

Happy Patient of Dr. Maddison's 8/7/2009

Dr. Maddison and her nurse Joan are both great. They have made my visits and the delivery of a child fantastic. Sometimes there is a wait, but this seems to be due to the fact that they actually take the time to answer ALL questions and listen to the patients rather than just zipping through. I do not know the other dr.s in the practice as well, but am very glad to be a patient of Dr. Maddison's. Pros: Professional, Knowledgable, Personable more

Dr Madison is wonderful! 12/3/2008

I began coming to Mid Carolina when I found out I was pregnant with my son 4 yrs ago. They now have a newer, more efficient, more spacious office next to Rex hospital. \r They have always been very nice to me and worked with me when we didn't have insurance. Dr Maddison is my doctor. She is fantastic! She always remembers me even though I only go in once a year now. She remembers my son's name and always asks about him. She makes plenty of time to talk with me, even if it's not always medical stuff.\r Dr Maddison delivered my son via emergency c-section. She was a great delivery doctor. The nurses at Rex were very rude with me and upsetting (long story) and she was all over it and made one nurse in particular come back and apologize for her behavior.\r I have been very happy with Mid Carolina and highly reccomend them. Pros: courteous, timely, efficient, knowledgable, worked with me Re: no insurance more

Bad Experience 4/29/2008

A birth factory. My bad experience was very similar to the other 1-star review. Prenatal exams were rushed through, the dr. was awful and verbally abusive at the birth. Glad my baby was born healthy, just wish it had been with another doc at another hospital. Pros: not much Cons: verbally abusive more

Horrible and regretful experience 4/25/2008

Do yourself a big favor and stear clear of this practice. I should have listened to my instincts and found another provider before I delivered. Throughout my prenatal care it became more and more obvious to me that I was nothing but an opportunity for profit to this group of physicians. \r \r The place is run like a factory. They may as well have a sign that says ""take a number, take a seat"" as you enter the office. Everyone from the receptionist, to the lab personnel and appt desk are routinely rude. The phsycians are hurried and uncaring. \r \r I had an absolutely horrible experience during my delivery. It is 6 months later and I still think back with regret. I wanted the doctor to wait and break my water until after my sister had arrived from Durham in 20m. But, the doctor told me he was in a hurry so it would be more convenient for him if he went ahead and did it. That was after I was almost sent home after presenting to the hospital with contractions b/c the contractions weren't showing up on the monitor ( I delivered 4h later). Pros: convenient to Rex Hospital Cons: Avoid Rex Hospital and this practice more
