Dr. Maddison and her nurse Joan are a solid team. While I've seen every physician in the practice as of 2004, in both the old office and the new, after having my first emergency c-section, Dr. Maddison has been my primary caregiver. While other support staff did not believe I was already in labor at 37 1/2 weeks in '04, Dr. Maddison took it all seriously - and good thing, too - my baby had turned around (again) and was breech! With my second child, she didn't hesitate to schedule my c-section (which I medically had to have) before 38 weeks knowing I naturally show signs of labor a little early. With my third, and tighter hospital regulations making a c-section before 39 weeks difficult, she is still willing to do what is needed to ensure I have my baby safely before I go into labor - even though I've relocated out of state! I plan to come back to Raleigh to have my baby with Dr. Maddison. Excellent doctor. Excellent surgeon.\r

When considering a practice, keep in mind the front office and ancillary staff are working in their own world sometimes. Mid-Carolina is a very busy practice, but your doctor will listen to you and do what is best for you at all times. The hospital L&D staff have nothing to do with the OB practice. I have had mixed experiences with Rex L&D/Postpartum staff. It is NOT a reflection on Dr. Maddison! She is fantastic.
Pros: Personable, professional, knowledgeable
Cons: Busy practice with sometimes frazzled front office staff
