Best

Had my first meal there this week at lunch time, ordered a sweet & sour chicken dish. I was surprised by how good the food was. Also, their presentation of the food, friendliness ...

Worst

just another restaurant in a strip mall! The Vietnamese food it just bad and taste like Chinese restaurant. Pho taste alot of MSG\r The service was poor.

Big Time Overated 1/23/2007

As the result from City Search, we came to your restaurant for the second time since you opened. Well, the food was horrible, I get better quality from Chinese buffet. The vinyl decoration is as cheap as it get, not to mention the cleanliness. Sorry, you might have an off night. I rather take my money to Pho Cali as least that what I am expected. more

The best Vietnamise restaurant in the area 1/19/2007

My husband and I went to dine there last Saturday night and the experience was wonderful! I had the Shrimp and my husband had the Beef . It was to die for! This is an excellent place for a Friday and Saturday night dining for 2 or for a group of friends. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Pros: food, ervice, value more

awsome!!! 1/19/2007

awsome every thing. try them out, you wont be disapointed. everything was priced fair and with great portions. the service staff was great, at least as great as you can get in this area. Pros: great food, service, and price Cons: ? more

Eggplant dish that's excellent, cust serv is great, owner checks on you periodically! 12/10/2006

Have been several times. Always good. Get spring rolls to start with. Then Grilled Aubergines (Asian Eggplant) with Shrimp and Crab is best. Filet was great. Avoid the Crispy Noodles Stir-Fry. We skipped desert but had sake. You can't miss with this restaurant if you like Asian/Vietnamese food. Pros: Service, food, ambiance more

Was Just Alright 10/15/2006

The food at the Lotus Leaf is alright. I found the food plain and ordinary. The location is horrible and the restaurant is so small it's hard to dine with a group of friends. I'm vietnamese and truthfully we make the same dishes at home and it's much better. I say this restaurant for a first time diner is okay, but you won't fully grasp what vietnamese cuisine is. Try it if you'd like but I say it isn't worth it. Cons: Small location, Food not what I expected more

GREAT, GREAT 10/14/2006

Great everything. We eat at that new restaurant up the road the other day, an cuisines, and everything was ok, not worth the money. tonight, we eat at the lotus leaf, on a friends recomendations, and I got to say ""EXCELLENT""\r The people from the new restaurant can learn a few things. for less than half the money, we got twise as much, quality of food and service.\r THANK YOU Pros: every thing was great Cons: the place was too small, but could be a good thing more

Excellent food! 6/8/2006

The food at the Lotus Leaf is probably the best I've had in the Raleigh area. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated, without being over the top. The serving sizes are large too, both my date and I brought home a doggy bag. Our waitress, I cannot remember her name but she was wonderful. Attentive, but not pushy. We'll be back for sure. Pros: Good food, great service, nice decor more

not your strip mall restaurant...maybe... 3/14/2006

you wouldn't go to a strip mall that houses a food lion, new china and a pizza place called what else - 'Original Michelangelo's Pizza' to try out vietnamese cuisine, BUT you should. the food is a welcome change from regular pan-asian cuisine that include conventional thai and chinese restaurants. however, the ambience gives away the fact you are still dining in a strip mall, and the service makes you feel you were at a take out. we were hoping to try out this place and grab a quick dinner, but despite our best efforts the staff took the better part of 2 hours to bring us a main course and dessert. we have not tried the friday and saturday night live music, but that might be the saving grace to visit this place again. more

Our new favorite place to dine! 2/27/2006

My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary here and Kai (the owner) and his staff made it a memorable experience for sure. We have now been there three times in the last six weeks and we've fallen for the food, the service, the music and the atmosphere. Everything we've had has been exceptional and the two servers we've had have been as well. This is a real find and a place worth visiting. Be sure to try the Weasel Coffee and get them to explain it to you afterwards!! Pros: Food, Winelist, Music Cons: None, None, None more

horrible service-ruined experience 2/3/2006

I was there on a date and the server was constantly checking on us. She kept asking if we wanted more wine (our glasses were half full) but she didn't notice our waters were completely empty. She never took the menus from our table. She kept upselling. When delivering our entrees, she didn't know which sauce went with which meal. While we were eating our entrees, she brought by the special of the night so we could see it, but she never even told us about it. The servers were all standing around talking, yet there were 4 tables surrounding us waiting to be bussed. She wrang up the bill wrong. Decent food, horrible experience. Pros: music Cons: service more

NOT for a romantic evening! 1/23/2006

I arranged to meet a friend from out of state and I was coming in from Charlotte, based on this restaurants nearly 10 rating. I got there first and it is just a little take out kind of place, VERY casual, plastic sheeting to the outdoor patio. I am sure the food is good, but DO NOT arrange to meet anyone here expecting ambiance. Had to scramble on phone at last minute to go somewhere else in a totally new city. Would have helped if someone had mentioned this in the ads. Good for college students and those with jeans on. more

Good food but terrible service 11/10/2005

The food at Lotus leaf was pretty good. But the meal was ruined for us because of the slow service. The appetizers and the main course were served really fast. However, after we were served the main course, our waiter just disappeared. He came by after a half hour and we asked him for the dessert menu. He disappeared for another half hour and by then we were so frustrated that we decided not to have any dessert. Maybe it was just our waiter because I could see that the table next to ours was being served really well by another waiter. All in all it became a bad experience because of the horribly slow service. Pros: Seafood, Wines Cons: Slow service more

The great ones are always in strip malls... 10/18/2005

I ate at the Lotus Leaf Cafe last night for the first time, and I was truly impressed! The service was exceptional. My waiter took time to explain a bit about the history, food, and methods of the chef. He also told me about a wine tasting/jazz event they host on Fridays. The food was fabulous. I had spring rolls, which were obviously made fresh with a tangy sauce. Then I tried their Shanghai Crepe. It was delicious! It had just enough coconut in the shell to flavor, but not overpower, and tender pork and shrimp in the filling. The dipping sauce provided was a perfect complement. I tried a new wine off their reasonably priced list (Lotus Chardonnay for only $5/glass), and it was quite good as well. I will definitely be back soon. Pros: Outdoor seating, Excellent Wait Staff, Great Food more

Cool setting and decorations. Menu and food are excellent. Service is better than average but if you could talk to the owner, he will tell you lots of interesting stuff about the menu and decorations. more

Charmer of a place 5/31/2005

Best kept secret in Cary (but not for long)! Will rival Hot Point, Cao and Tasca Brava as Cary's best! Worth coming TO Cary to eat. more

good vegetarian choices 5/20/2005

i had some superb vegetarian spring rolls, a little salty, but the best ive had in a while. i had the textured tofu & tomatoes... its not typical tofu (which is a nice change from the norm), but more like mock-chicken strips, some type of textured soy protein (reminded me of a type of gardenburger brand chicken i have tried). very tasty. my boyfriend tried the steak textured tofu & peppers i believe... again, this was more like TVP, his was excellent. I would definitely return, but would have to wait until payday, luckily when we went we had a coupon ;) i must say as i read in another user's review, the value was good because you are served a large portion, but i would prefer smaller portions and smaller prices. the waiter was excellent as well Pros: vegetarian choices Cons: its in cary =/ more

Great Food 5/13/2005

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Lotus Leaf Cafe and very much enjoyed both the food and the service. We were disappointed that the Lotus Leaf special was no longer served, though still listed on the menu, but the Beef Pho and the Eggplant with Crab and Shrimp were excellent. The Creme Brule was also very tasty. Our dinner, including a bottle of wine, an appetizer, two entrees, and dessert was about $65 with tip, which seemed very reasonable. We shall return. more

A Rare Find 4/20/2005

i checked out this asian bistro with high recommendation from a friend who missed this type of cuisine since moving here from Seattle. i am definitely not disappointed. it is a indeed a rare find in the Cary/Raleigh area. great Asian food with a French twang. their creme brulee is the best i've had in this area. will come back to try out their appetizer & wine hours soon. -LTD Pros: good parking, cool patio setup more

Delicious Addition 8/29/2004

I really like Vietnamese food but it's difficult to find in the Raleigh area. Lotus Leaf's varied menu accomodates everyone - including vegetarians. I had the vegetarian summer rolls - they were standard fare with a delicious and unique peanut sauce. For an entree I had the tofu with noodles - it was delicious and spiced just right. I will definitely go back to try their other vegetarian items! One note, though : their prices are slightly high but not far off from other restaurants considering the portion size - I would rather have less food at a cheaper price! Pros: Food more
